F-Zero fans are going through what us Paper Mario fans went through when Color Splash was announced. Hopefully they’ll have their moment someday like we’re having now.
The let-down, IMO, was unwarranted, not only is F-Zero 99 true to the elements that make a good F-Zero game, I think it's actually one of the best F-Zero games in general. Sure, it doesn't have a single-player mode, but it's fun to play, and it's recognizably F-Zero. Not to mention it's been, what, 20 or so years since the last game, so I consider this an absolute win.
I was so letdown at first just because of the premise but oh my god they knocked it out of the park. F-Zero 99 feels like a dream despite everything. Definitely up there with X and GX in my eyes. Lovely game but not gonna keep my nso for it. Hope they have another solid release that I can own some point down the line. A great shot in the arm the series needed for sure!
I remember straight-up going "FUUUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" at the Mini-Mario-announcement - before it showed to be Mario VS DK actually. Felt like an interesting sign for things to come, now that I look back. What a triple-whammy for me with Another Code, MK8DX's Final Trio and TTYD, really. So overjoyed by this Direct - even if well, it's mostly remakes, NGL.
idk which has gotten a bigger reaction Super Mario RPG or TTYD it's really starting to lean on TTYD I envy everyone who's been so happy these past couple months
That's the fourth consecutive time I've had a TTYD reaction where I'm laughing with the reactor. First was Chuggaconroy, second was Arlo, third was WiiBros08, final one was you. I'm right there with y'all. I'm still pinching myself. The fact that we're getting SMRPG AND this?! US MARIO FANS ARE BEING OVERSTUFFED WITH GOURMET FOOD RIGHT NOW.
I think I'll save what I thought of these highlights for the disucssion video, though I WILL say my initial reaction to F-Zero 99 wasn't disappointment; at worst I thought "it's better than nothing", though having played it I think even saying that is a disservice. Again, I'll get more into it in other videos. For now, in terms of what you left out of these highlights (which by the way, I get why you left these out if you didn't have much to say about them): Another Code: Recollection is actually really cool, I never played the original Another Code games (or "Trace Memory" as it was called in North America), but it reminds me of the Famicom Detective Club remakes, obscure Nintendo games getting remade for modern consoles AND release games that were never released in certain countries (the second Another Code game never came out in North American). Like Famicom Detective Club, I totally intend to get this game, if only to encourage Nintendo to keep doing this kind of thing. I've seen people dismissive of Trombone Champ, and... look, I get it if you're not down with the kind of dumb humor that I clearly love about games like this, but man, I freaking love Trombone Champ. The trombone is one of, if not the silliest instrument you can play for the kinds of songs they have on this game. And if you're thinking it looks like a Wii Music knock-off, well rest assured the developers are well-aware of that comparison and rather than awkwardly trying to look like you're having fun pretending to play an instrument, they lean into the absurdity of the game's very concept with the different ways you can play this game. The fact that they remember the Joy-Cons have an IR sensor and you can use THAT to play is in and of itself insane, to the point where you really have to wonder why they even bothered to include that, given that it looks like it makes the game even harder to play... but like I said, the absurdity is half the appeal for a game like this, and I really hope people give it a try. Unicorn Overlord actually looks pretty cool, at the very least I love its visuals. I can see people lumping this in with the other RPGs in the Direct, but frankly, the more I look at it, the more fascinated I become, so yeah, consider me intrigued. The Nintendo Museum reminded me of that one time Shigeru Miyamoto infamously said he doesn't consider games "art" but rather "products" that you should make to satisfy your customers, or something to that effect. I wonder if he's changed his mind of this particular stance... at the very least, Nintendo thinks its legacy is great enough to warrant having a museum displaying all of it, and I think that's cool. If I ever actually visit Japan, I'll try to check it out. WarioWare: Movie It! looks cool and all, but... *sigh* It's really going to take some time to get used to Wario's new voice.
10:54 With what came after, I don't think I need to worry about hearing your dogs. Anyway, as an M&L guy, it's still sad to see that my Mario RPG is still in limbo but then again I haven't played the other 2 and considering how much everyone and their mother rates TTYD, I feel somewhat compelled to see what the hype's about. Also I love the BCP section where you only talk Diddy Funky and Pauline. Peachette is so irrelevant that the second she's off the screen she doesn't exist.
At best, I expected a Paper Mario 64 remake But a TTYD remake???? WHAT?!?!?! Also, it seems not a SINGLE change has been made to the unique NPCs. I think everyone in the fanbase can now agree the Mario mandates were never real (or at least, heavily toned down).
Biggest highlight: Peach Showtime. I'm in love with that game. Greatest highlight: SupermarioT's gussing over Paper Mario: TTYD. Disappointing highlight: F-Zero 99. (Gotta say it; Phyuck you Nintendo for doing it that. That's on the level of Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival. Games of a franchise people love but in a style no one asked for. This game; like Pac-Man 99 and Super Mario 35 will get shutdown in a few years. That was seriously dirty Nintendo.)
6:26 Me three! Well, somewhat, because I'm kinda on a diet. But yeah, we all grown-ass people sittin' on our asses havin' ourselves 'dem milk 'n cookies! Luigi is truly an example to us all.
Nothing I'm interested in getting (beyond Booster Course, but I was already going to get that), but I'm still incredibly excited! After all, SMRPG getting a remake was _a_ ray of hope that the Sticker-legacy might finally end, but _TTYD? In addition?!?!_ It's clear, somehow they must have _finally_ heard our cries, meaning I can actually look forward to a _real_ new Paper Mario someday! Oh, and MvDK is nice too. Always enjoyed that style more than the Lemmings one, and said Lemmings style had been getting stale anyway.
1:21 As someone who's played the original yep, definitely the best Mario vs. Donkey Kong for many me included as it plays like the stellar remake of Donkey Kong on the Game Boy. 6:36 Just like for Super Mario RPG they want this game to have the same title across all regions this time and obviously they're going for the original Japanese ones. 9:03 Unless we're not getting Wii Rainbow Road which I seriously doubt Daisy Circuit is replacing a track, I'd say a GameCube one... and that wasn't even the biggest surprise, we're getting four characters instead of just two (they must be putting a couple of these and/or moving already existing ones as costumes to make them fit)!
While I'm very excited for TTYD HD this puts Paper Mario in a crossroad, will the next game actually be a return to form or will they just go "LOL JK! heere's TOK2 or something else, Stay Mad!". Again I was convinced they'd never touch classic paper Mario, but now... I don't know. I really hope this game sells, make it sell more than TOK to show games like TTYD are what people want.
Dude, i remember when the vita had borderlands and was like, wow kinda a portable ps3, but now switch is literally a ps1 and ps3 with all these ports its awesome. Mario fans are eating mega good, and that fzero games looks SUPER fun wow. P good direct honestly
@@SuperMarioT There were more Mario games in both main directs separately than Kirby games on the Switch I stopped liking Mario thanks to leetl1 and livelovelaugh22
A. Why are you letting 2 randos dictate how much you should like/dislike a piece of media? B. Didn’t Return to Dreamland Deluxe drop after like 3 different Kirby announcements in directs & games throughout the prior year? We get Mario games all the time, that’s kind of a regular thing most directs & years.
Okay, but unironically, stop letting others dictate how you should feel for any media when that's your job yourself. Their reaction, input, behavior, etc. and the quality of said media aren't correlated

*one second later*
“AAAAAAAAA-“😂
One of them must’ve suddenly came right to his microphone 🎤 😉
I was like "idk man your chimpanzee is louder than those dogs" lmao
The Mario series is TRULY in a brand new era Not held by ANY restrictions
Best era since Gamecube
Even Origami King which was the most “held back” felt extremely loose and free
He apologized about the dog barks only for him to make louder barking sounds seconds later 😂
I love how the moment after you started screaming the dogs in the background were so taken aback that they immediately stopped making noise
that scream is so going to be a solid gold meme.
Reminds me of Photonblaze's reaction from Mewtwo's return to Smash Bros 4.
Comparable to that kid 360 headshot MLG scream 😂
On that day, SuperMarioT became the Thousand Year Door
And he the Thousand Year Door’d all over the place
F-Zero fans are going through what us Paper Mario fans went through when Color Splash was announced. Hopefully they’ll have their moment someday like we’re having now.
At least people seem to enjoy fzeo 99

We may not have gotten Metroid Prime 4 or Xenoblade X Definitive Edition. But I’m not complaining PRINCESS PEACH SHOWTIME, F-ZERO AND TTYD HYPE.
TYOD saved the entire direct
Nah BCP Wave 6 already saved it for me
Pffht, I was eating good already by Another Code-remakes alone. But Wave 6 + TTYD really took it from good to FUCKING GREAT
