Yeah, thanks I'll be practicing this, because when I shoot casual three-pointers with my friends. They also make fun of me,I have good form, BUT when I shoot threes' I have to jump forward a little bit. I look crazy like that when I'm in the air
Thanks for the tips! I have couple of questions please! I am shooting guard and play position 2 as well! my point of release is inside the 3 points range is above my head because of two reasons' 1st i feel more comfortable more accurate, 2nd the higher set point makes it hard to defend since i am not that tall 6ft. but when shooting a pointer i have a complete different shot mechanics' mostly because of the range'. Do you advice me to just build more muscles to be able to have just one shooting form? i would like to adapt to your shooting form wich is one motion but find it difficult since i aim with my right eye, and once the ball/the palm of my hand blocks my right eye my accuracy drops down from 80/90% to around 50/60%! any advice on how to proceed? would really appreciate it if you find the time to help! Regards
Hey Coach. I don't doubt anything u say I only question to understand better. How exactly does going further back and practicing with that lunge step actually increase your shooting range? P.s LOVE YOUR FORM BY THE WAY. and also do u feel height has any effect on shot form. I'm real short 5'7" but an adult
The lunge step "controls" additional momentum needed. Most people when out of range try other negative means to increase the power and momentum, this effects their technique drastically. This is the best way that keeps form until you don't require that extra momentum. Also it establishes the off shooting foot. The lunge keeps you low and brings you in so you only have to go straight up. Also thanks for the compliment about my shooting form! Hope this video was helpful! - Coach Janzen
Also, everyone's body types will always differ, but the fundamentals of shooting are always similar. Our video on shooting form discusses how to position yourself for proper shooting form, regardless of height.
Can anyone help me, I don't have a basketball team at my school or local area so I'm completely self taught. I've been practicing for a few months now but I have a big problem shooting 3's. I'm 5'10 and I put all my arms power into the shot but I can't reach the damn hoop. I tend to release the ball in the middle of my jump instead of the top since I find I get more power that way. Also I shoot entirely with one hand, my left hand doesn't move at all once I start pushing with my right hand. This might be a problem but I'm more accurate that way. Can anyone give me tips on what I'm doing wrong? I'm 17 btw, I'm just short

@@giaosudeme You are right! Even I've neglected shoot with my lower body and I'm still making threes' I'll probably be beast when I build a powerful jump
Ok look first don't just shoot a 3 pointer right off the bat. You want to progress your way to shoot threes. You start for mid range and working you way to the deeper mid range spot. You must of confidence to shoot a three. Don't jump to high. You whole arm matters the most. It's good if you can jump high tho. But like I said make sure you have enough power by practicing and have a good follow through
Yeah, exactly like Baku_ said. You will need to progress your way back over time. Be honest with yourself when assessing where your current range is. If your shooting form starts getting ugly, you're out of your range. You want to make sure that you are using your legs and that you keep good shooting form. Follow the steps in the video and keep focusing on improving where you are currently at - don't skip steps.
Try out the drills if you're looking to have more power on your shot! Also, how old are you? A lot of young players lack the ability to shoot from further out because of their limitations in terms of physical strength. If that's the case, be patient because as you get older you will get stronger... and you should start working out and lifting some weights.
Thanks so much! It helped a ton I went from struggling to hit to having range with good form making shots. I liked and subscribed 👍!
Thanks man, great to hear it helped! We got a ton more coming 👍

How do i delay my setpoint? I usually bring the ball up too early on my shot and release it early too.
Have you checked out our video on shooting form?
I have good accuracy but bad range
