This is a really good video because hardly anyone if not anyone has attempted to create a evolution video of third person shooters. But I will say there still was quite a few games you missed not to say you could include them all as of course not, but I still reckon there was a heap that should’ve been included, like Hunter from 1991 and Winback from 1999, but again good list nonetheless hope to see a part 2 🙂👍
Hunter (1991) was probably the first 3D third person shooter I ever played, and back then it blew my mind to even think such concept could be possible!
Really the first true 3rd person shooter was 1987 Xybots, then 1988's Devastator and 1988's Cabal, and the first polygon TPS was 1994's Virtuoso, and 1994's Fade to Black. 1996's Tomb Raider popularized the genre and it went mainstream after that. Concluding the early history of TPS was 1997's Megaman Legends which was the first to do both TPS gameplay with RPG elements.
A lot of people are saying Tomb Raider, but Tomb Raider wasn't a shooter, it's a puzzle platformer. You only shoot occasionally in this game, you mostly climb and jump.
Need help : I dont remember name of the game which was exactly like fortnite it was like team v team game cartoon style graphics and third person shooter style There was sniple rifle shotgons and some more weapons , w some different maps I played it with S4 league
@@lifeinthehands6972 Alone in the Dark is one of the firsts action-adventure in third-person and invented the old-school survival horror formula before Resident Evil; that's what I think about it. Because Third-person shooter (TPS) is a subgenre of 3D shooter games in which the player character is visible on-screen during gaming, and the gameplay consists primarily of shooting.Since in games like contra the character is visible on-screen, hence it is considered as a TPS game
The editing is kinda weird (with few seconds of black screen between each game and all) and the intro is way too long, but this video does have some interesting early games I've never heard of And since this is like the only tps evolution video on youtube, I guess I'll take what I can get (btw, why are we differentiate tps and fps as separate generes anyway?)
Answers: 1. I used a 3d flip motion transition between the clips, but when i exported the video, there was just black screen. So, I had to upload it with the black screen between the clips. 2. I know, the intro is way too long.I'm a beginner so I am trying to learn things up.I will be using short intro's or opener in my upcoming videos. 3. The TPS and FPS are not separate genres. They are sub-divisions of the "Shooter" genre.

Max Payne :)
One of the best games of that time :)
@@FeatureGamer Definetly
What a great game
Needs TR 1-3, Dark Forces 2, Syphon Filter. There's also Vortex, Simulcra, Hunter, Soulstar, Star Fox 2 for some more early-mid '90s examples.
I envy the imagination of gamers before 90s! The games are but bits of cues for sparking your imagination into creating a world in your head!
WHAT? NO RESIDENT EVIL 4? ARE YOU INSANE?!
TOMB RAIDER 1996 was the revelation of TPS ever!
Resident Evil released in same year with Tomb Raider.
And red dead redemption 1 and gears of war 1 and the remastered version and gears of war 2 and gears of war 4 and 5
Hunter (1991)
Alone in the Dark (1992)
Tomb Raider (1996)

Not a single TPS game had released in a year

it’s all from Uncharted 4. Not sure why it wasn’t on the list
