There’s a limit on how much fuel in an external tank that you can trap with, they couldn’t transfer fuel out of it so ended up needing to drop it to prevent damage.

I managed to get a flag from a bomb that the jet I launched dropped on the range in Greece. It will probably be my favorite memory as a PC, seeing my jet come back without any bombs left on it.

The navy no longer relies on a movie from the 1980’s to recruit the next generation of pilots. RUclips videos like this have that covered.
And thr funny thing is, that movie did nothing to really help the Navy in recruitment. The Air Force was who got most of the recruits from it.
