I attended this show in person. Sat about ten rows back from ringside. Overall i enjoyed it. After the show we got free Chicago pizza. It was handed out in trucks outside of the arena. It was good and not lousy, cheap pizza. We also received free can of c4 energy drink. The laser light show was more impressive live than on tv. I didn't care for the street fight match but otherwise I had fun and enjoyed the show

The reason they had Guila vs Perez to start is that match was the only match that had JUST NXT people. So when people looked for the new channel and saw NXT stars they had the right channel. Every other match had OUTSIDE talent involved. At least that’s my theory on why the women lead off.
If it would have closed the show it would have been death with that booking. Having the babyface win at the end of the show is how you do it. Hbk almost fumbled giulia after one week but last night was much better for wwes new stars

The CW ratings died bc they were the house Supernatural built. No DC comic shows anymore either. No interesting shows anymore, so they are rebuilding from scratch.
It's also an issue where a lot of CW affiliates aren't carried by their local cable, satellite, or streaming TV options. In my area you have to either watch via antenna or pay for expensive tiers of cable or satellite to watch. None of the streamers carry it. Nexstar is trying to fix that, but since they bought the majority share they've changed the affiliate channel in about 20 markets and got rid of all the programming as their long term plan is to finally try to be the 5th major network instead of just a network for teens/young adults. That's why NXT, LIV Golf, Nascar Xfinity Series, ACC football/basketball, etc. have been added to give them some sports options and they're licensing a lot of Canadian shows at the moment. They've even gone back to old school programming and will be airing a Sunday night movie each week. Their "new" shows this fall are NXT, a reality show about working and dating on a ranch, two game shows (Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit), and a British miniseries. It will be interesting to see what they come up with now that they've had a year or so to settle into their new ownership and end all the holdover shows.

Jim is well known for holding grudges. Once he makes up his mind, it's pretty resolute. He also is completely unafraid of giving an unpopular opinion on things. He has bashed wrestlers that I think are great, but even then I can laugh at it because his rants are legendary entertainment. I mean, the guy is hilarious, regardless of his "take".
It’ll be interesting to see where NXT goes after these first two weeks. Personally, I like it a lot better than AEW. With NXT you see a lot of up-and-comers learning, working stuff out, characters that would be a bit “too much” for the main roster, etc. I loved watching an arena of people cheer on and boo these wrestlers that a week or two before were wrestling in front of 300 people at the Performance Center. NXT is nowhere nearly as bad as Jim made it out to be. He’s jumping in on something that legit had proper storyline build ups, etc. Unlike AEW where stuff just… happens. And, where PROs botch as much or even more than the NXT wrestlers.

The reason the old NXT work was because of Dusty Rhodes, not Triple H, the wrestlers that Dusty train most of them have become some of the biggest stars in wrestling and the ones that came up under Triple H are either on AEW not drawing or doing anything or back in the indies very few of them made it big in wrestling

The CW = UPN + The WB. CBS took over ownership of UPN when CBS and Paramount merged, thus, the name of the combined network was The CW (CBS + WB), rather than The PW or The WP.
It sucks that the CW premiere was a little underwhelming and Jim and Brian will continue to dislike it and not watch because it has legitimately been a better show than AEW the last 6 months to a year.

I've been hearing about how great NXT is getting for months it seems like, and I feel like I'm living on another planet when I hear it. Full of bad humor, unwatchable segments with bad acting, silly early 90s WWF characters running around, it's in a friggin' gym STILL and for every good match there's 3 other matches that very much remind you it's a developmental show
What happened to the CW? That's easy. They got a couple of good superhero shows in Arrow and Flash several years ago when the hero craze was still popular, spun them off into 10 other shows and milked the ever loving shit of em until eventually they ran their course. Now there's no reason to watch anything on that channel, so anything related to wwe can only be good for them
There was also "Supernatural," but that show had already run its course as well, so you're right in that NXT is just about the only thing the CW network has going for it.
Cw problems were supernatural and vampire diaries were old and became to expensive for cw standards and they put all their eggs in the DC mulitverse supergirl, arrow, the flash etc all decline because of age and over exposure. Every night was a super hero themed show, and insert a random soap opera/ reboot of a 80's/90's show.
I liked Trick Williams and Oba Femi. The commentator that is partnered with Booker T (I don't know his name) to me sounded just like Michael Cole just with tattoos.

NXT is fun to watch every week. I always look forward to it. It’s been a very long time since I watched an episode and went my god that sucked. I can’t remember the last time I ever did that to be quite honest with you. WWE is so good that they make developmental stuff look like a good main show. NXT is on par with raw and smack down like it or not. AeW wishes they had the success that NXT has and has had
Ironically, if it was around today and not owned by Disney, X-Men the Animated Series would be on The CW in prime time for a season premiere, and Apocalypse would be in the episode.
The CW was the replacement for The WB and UPN. There was no 3rd broadcast network, Jim. The "C" in CW comes from 'CBS', since originally CW was a joint venture between CBS/Viacom and Warner Bros. (before it became Time Warner then later WBD)

The CW ratings died bc they were the house Supernatural built. No DC comic shows anymore either. No interesting shows anymore, so they are rebuilding from scratch.
Smallville blew CW up before Supernatural. But honestly no DC shows is a blessing after that awful Supergirl show
It's also an issue where a lot of CW affiliates aren't carried by their local cable, satellite, or streaming TV options. In my area you have to either watch via antenna or pay for expensive tiers of cable or satellite to watch. None of the streamers carry it.
Nexstar is trying to fix that, but since they bought the majority share they've changed the affiliate channel in about 20 markets and got rid of all the programming as their long term plan is to finally try to be the 5th major network instead of just a network for teens/young adults. That's why NXT, LIV Golf, Nascar Xfinity Series, ACC football/basketball, etc. have been added to give them some sports options and they're licensing a lot of Canadian shows at the moment. They've even gone back to old school programming and will be airing a Sunday night movie each week. Their "new" shows this fall are NXT, a reality show about working and dating on a ranch, two game shows (Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit), and a British miniseries.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with now that they've had a year or so to settle into their new ownership and end all the holdover shows.
@@DONKEYKONG260 Technically Buffy and Angel blew up WB and then Smallville took them to another level. UPN started strong with Star Trek Voyager , Clueless, and Veronica Mars. Both were struggling when they merged into CW, and then CW really didn't do well until 2014-2016 before it started back downhill.

It’ll be interesting to see where NXT goes after these first two weeks. Personally, I like it a lot better than AEW. With NXT you see a lot of up-and-comers learning, working stuff out, characters that would be a bit “too much” for the main roster, etc. I loved watching an arena of people cheer on and boo these wrestlers that a week or two before were wrestling in front of 300 people at the Performance Center.
NXT is nowhere nearly as bad as Jim made it out to be. He’s jumping in on something that legit had proper storyline build ups, etc. Unlike AEW where stuff just… happens. And, where PROs botch as much or even more than the NXT wrestlers.

The reason the old NXT work was because of Dusty Rhodes, not Triple H, the wrestlers that Dusty train most of them have become some of the biggest stars in wrestling and the ones that came up under Triple H are either on AEW not drawing or doing anything or back in the indies very few of them made it big in wrestling

I've been hearing about how great NXT is getting for months it seems like, and I feel like I'm living on another planet when I hear it. Full of bad humor, unwatchable segments with bad acting, silly early 90s WWF characters running around, it's in a friggin' gym STILL and for every good match there's 3 other matches that very much remind you it's a developmental show
What happened to the CW? That's easy. They got a couple of good superhero shows in Arrow and Flash several years ago when the hero craze was still popular, spun them off into 10 other shows and milked the ever loving shit of em until eventually they ran their course. Now there's no reason to watch anything on that channel, so anything related to wwe can only be good for them
There was also "Supernatural," but that show had already run its course as well, so you're right in that NXT is just about the only thing the CW network has going for it.

Cw problems were supernatural and vampire diaries were old and became to expensive for cw standards and they put all their eggs in the DC mulitverse supergirl, arrow, the flash etc all decline because of age and over exposure. Every night was a super hero themed show, and insert a random soap opera/ reboot of a 80's/90's show.

NXT is fun to watch every week. I always look forward to it. It’s been a very long time since I watched an episode and went my god that sucked. I can’t remember the last time I ever did that to be quite honest with you. WWE is so good that they make developmental stuff look like a good main show. NXT is on par with raw and smack down like it or not. AeW wishes they had the success that NXT has and has had
Ironically, if it was around today and not owned by Disney, X-Men the Animated Series would be on The CW in prime time for a season premiere, and Apocalypse would be in the episode.
