I filmed a subject for four months from Dec, 2017 - Apr, 2018. I filmed him with an android phone with an app installed (cinema fv). For sound I carried a zoom H1 and a lav mic attached to it. The recorder would fit in my pocket and the lav mic would be mounted on my jacket/shirt. I was the only crew most of the time, and my wife joined in and did sound occasionally to help me out. I filmed my subject the way I did, because I wanted to be least noticed and eye catching in the open. So there was no on cam zooms and the lens was in the widest. I personally moved in space to get close or maintain distance and therefore varied the shot sizes. It is a lot of footage arranged date-wise. This helps me now in editing. I had to give it a rest because it was an intense time filming and I needed detachment to go back to the material. Now that I watch the dailies(if I am permitted to call it that), I think the shots aren't bad after all and there are long takes which used well can draw out story. Hoping to justify the material and do justice to my subject.
I just love the video short explain very good , plus the camera you are using it's my dream but unfortunately it's really big for one person making documentary . of course it's good result high resolution . need spare battery memory card plus good lens
Would love to learn more about those release forms! Are they for everyone that passes through your shots? If so, doesn’t that mean constantly stopping to chase people down to ask them to sign the form? Thanks for any advice!
Ideally you could indeed have another person chasing down people. But I use a combination of shallow depth of field and blurring in post to avoid those issues. Especially when I'm all by myself. I also just pay attention to the background and reposition myself accordingly.

Hi, Is the camera ok for long time recordings ? I mean, any heating issues ?
It´s hard to find a lightweight key light with a good amount of output for talking head shots. What are you using?
When I'm lone wolf I attach either the Aputure Amaran AL-MX or the AL-F7 onto my camera.
Awesome video Boone, great seeing the city as well.
Thanks!

Talks about cinema verite and then really just does OTF interviews. The use of "cinema verite" is so overused
