Hi Christy, I just love your channel and everything you do with old pieces of furniture and boxes etc. I originally saw your projects on Pinterest, and I've been hooked ever since! I signed up to receive your '30 DIY Projects' and they've been really helpful, especially your instructions on how to paint even stripes onto a box because I'm making a jewellery box for a friend of mine and I decided to paint the outside in grey and white stripes, and then line the inside with padded velvet in black. Well, the first lot of stripes were all wonky so I painted over them and started again! And this time, with your help, they were fine and the jewellery box turned out really well, especially considering how it looked before!😅 So thank you for all your help. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
@@ChristyJamesThank you so much for replying to my comment Christy. My friend Marie did indeed love the jewellery box, so that was great. I make jewellery myself at home but I like to do different projects as well so I don't get stuck in a rut. I did the jewellery box because I was having a mental block with my jewellery making, and if I do something different it really helps to get rid of the block, if you know what I mean.
Wonderful idea to distress! Did you add a layer of sandpaper to the bottom of your block? You didn't specify that, you only said you added a knob to the block. You are so helpful. Thank you very much.
Thank you! I did not use sandpaper at all here. It is just a wooden block that I dipped in paint to simulate the look of sanding. This method is great for those lighter pieces or already painted pieces that you to look distressed, but you don’t want the color beneath to show through. :)
This is such a cool way to distress! I get too much black sometimes and it just wipes off! So much easier than repainting if I sand too much off the piece. Thanks for the tip!
Welcome back Christy. So nice seeing you back. The camera didn’t really pick up the edging technique while you were demonstrating. However, the before and after at the end is truly beautiful and I was able to see the coffee bean paint accent. Always enjoy your videos . Thanks 😊

Thank you, Genna! It was difficult to see the detail from far away, but I'm glad you could see the close up at the end. Have a great day! 💕
