Is the cost of building materials in Enugu different from other areas? No. The cause of high cost of accommodation Enugu is greed. How come accommodation is cheaper in Onitsha than Enugu? Why should an agent charge a whooping N100 000 just for helping a prospective tenant find an accommodation. Why should a lawyer charge N100 000 lawyer fee even when no agreement has been drafted in most cases. While that of the lawyer may be justified, there is no basis for the justification of the agency fee. It is a complete rip off and unfortunately we do not have a responsible government that could address the ugly trend.

If the newly constructed structures aren't affordable I don't see how the housing problem is solved, tackle it with from the root; make building materials cheap.

I think DANGOTE and OTHER CEMENT manufacturers should consider Nigerians and bring down the price of the commodity. It is a shame that imported cement is half the price of Nigeria made cement and the Federal Government bans importation of cement. Thus making building of houses very expensive.
