In February 2022, I hiked the Ohlone Wilderness Trail from Del Valle Regional Park to Mission Peak Regional Preserve. The entire journey was 28 miles with more than 7000 ft of elevation. I completed the hike over two days.
I camped at Maggie's Half Acre and stopped at Murietta Falls, Rose Peak and Mission Peak. It was a challenging trail but had some great scenery, lots of animals (hello cows!) and a beautiful sunset.
I hope you enjoy the video! If you have any questions, please read the trip report linked above or send me a message!

Bison are scary, but cows are pretty tame. I think there have been close to zero cow attacks on hikers, and I don't think many bear attacks. I could not bring bear spray in Sequoia Park on a trip there. I was living on the edge.

Cows are generally not predatory. But it is a good idea to avoid being between them and their calves.
There are, however, mountain lions in these hills. They are pretty stealthy and the avoid humans, so you usually won't see them. But they are there.

    Hi Mikaela
This is the first time I've watched any of your videos.
I was at Sunol's little Yosemite on Memorial day .
I was wondering why you dont post videos anymore.
I enjoyed watching this and a couple of other ones.

Hi Gail! Thanks for your comment! I moved to California for a new job and for the first six months I wasn’t that busy and was able to do lots of trips and make RUclips videos about them. But then things started to get busy and its been like that for the past two years. I only do a couple trips each year, and I don’t film them anymore. That said, I do want to get back into it and I’ll be changing jobs this year, so maybe I’ll start uploading again. Comments like these remind me that it’s something I enjoy, and others enjoy it too :)

      @@VoyageurTripper Hi Mikaela,
      Thank you for your reply!
Yes, life can get pretty busy/hectic at times.
      I'm glad you're doing good!
I was wondering if something happened to you and that's why you haven't been posting anymore.
So, I'm glad all is well with you😊
When life slows down some for you, I look forward to new videos from you.
I shared your video with my friend that I went to Sunal Regional park with the other day.
And we both think you have alot of courage and guts for going solo backpacking in the wilderness.
I admire you for your bravery
      💪😉👍
We get nervous and worry about mountain lions or bears when we go hiking😬
      We only do day trips.
      Take care🙋‍♀️

Mikaela, probably mucked up the spelling. Anyway, I watched this a year ago and now RUclips has prompted me to watch it again. I am a metric person so good to have you giving the metres etc and for the old fashioned country you seem to be living in, the translation would be helpful. Regards, Paul from south east Australia 🇦🇺 😅

What a sunset!! Quite unique to walk through a field of cows - can imagine how odd that is. You do a good job of holding the camera high enough! Sometimes we forget and it looks like we are looking down on it
