- a young African-American man is persuaded by a gambler to move to Chicago after graduating from a Southern university. Once there, he gets involved in the criminal underworld of Chicago, falls for a dame, and is framed for murder. Written and directed by renowed filmmaker Osacar Micheaux. This film is one example of "alternate versions", a common theme and plot structure in Oscar Micheaux's films. Mr. Micheaux is buried at Great Bend Cemetery in Great Bend, Kansas.
His grave was not marked until 1988. I believe there’s an annual memorial in his honor at his grave in GB.
His epitaph reads “A Man Ahead of His Time. “ He truly is.
Oscar micheaux, was way ahead of his time, if he was white he would have been hail as the greatest of his era. This film somewhat show that freedom from slavery only made some black people mimic the old slave masters over their fellow blacks, so one have to ask, was freedom worthwhile for some black folks?.

In spite of those times you mean. Don’t get it twisted. No protection under the law, at the mercy of outlaws and American terrorists like the Klan was no picnic. It speaks to their strength, faith and intelligence to have survived those times
