To be fair if they really are dead then the situation is hopeless they didn’t do the ritual meaning the thing can just grab you whenever so even if you escape it can grab you and if it needs someone to do the ritual then it just to give one to someone who will be near you when you do it
Gotta say, that was better than what I expected. And for a demo they sure crammed a lot of endings to it. Here’s hoping that Kat survives in the full game because I kinda grew fond of her slightly snarky attitude. Also, I’m guessing that Kat’s disappearance is what gonna kick start the plot for the full game huh.
I would be really bummed out that Kat got offed because she does so much right being a protagonist. She's expressive, has a backbone, and has initiative which is the opposite of most rpgmaker protags. However I assume the actual protagonist could be just as interesting so Ill wait for that to come out. Really glad a genre that has been just as old as me or older is still going, and people such as yourself are still covering it. Cant wait to buy this when it comes out.
I think the demon’s dialogue was a bit more interesting in the previous version of the prologue. It wasn’t any different, but having Kat ignore it up until the end when she revealed that she could hear it all along was more fun, IMO
ITS NOT DEAD! i wanted so much to see the finished game in so long -- wait its still being developed lmao still, im happy the project is going strong! its a pretty cool looking one!
@@faco1117 Well, if ending 8 is canon, the possibility still exists. Maybe we'll find her half-dead still waiting in that room to be rescued, when we go into the other dimension. Her arc with the dad would be cut short if she was already dead, so this will remain my headcanon until proven otherwise :)
Damnit, I liked Kat.. maybe she doesn't truly die, though, and we'll see her again? Notice how the voice in the true end says "Everybody should try it at least once." To me this implies that people here don't die permanently, or maybe they turn into.. whatever the hell the creepy demon monsters are.
i never found it myself, so i'm glad there's endings (even if they're 'bad') where you leave with the girls and nobody dies. when i played the original demo, i was sad to find out that you and the others die regardless. even if they're bad ends, at least they're nice
I rather liked the original version of Project Kat, and this is just an even better version of it. She'll always be trying to summon Inuyasha in my heart. But really, the motive to find her father is a better reason to be doing these sort of rituals than most horror protagonists have, even if it's still an awful idea. This expanded version has me all the more excited for Paper Lily, though I must say the bar has been set quite high for the blonde protagonist. I don't want to think Kat is going to be canonically dead, she's so fun. Instantly likeable, a part of me just wishes she was the true protagonist.
I actually love a character like Kat. She is ambitious, confident and I like her quick witted banter with the other girls. Most protagonist girls that are simply kindhearted and friendly - which is fine, but I like this change. I'd totally follow Kate as a protagonist and I feel like this ending cuts her story short. I want to see more of her courage when she gets over the fear and panic of being trapped. I really think she'd have what it takes to get out of here.
We don't even know what personality has the other protagonist. I can't say I want her for a protagonist without knowing how the other one will be. We might like the other one way more.
I really want K7 to be the canon ending, but only K1 produces a save file for chapter 1 so..... ...y'know what, no, screw that, forget Lily or whoever. Kat is love, Kat is life, Kat Gang forever.
So when I had played the demo, I was really hoping that the hair had some sort of big role, like, the hair represents who is doing the ritual, maybe who is supposed to have safe passage, which would change the ending obviously depending on whose hair you used.
Maybe if Kat did die, she'll run into the protag and have to kill or harm her to get out. And considering she'd be stuck in that hell world maybe the demon for fun, uses her for fun. And makes a "deal" with her to hunt our protag down in exchange for freedom. (that will obviously never happen.)
Ok but imagine you're in a spooky well made horror game and then the demon is just in a basketball court playing basket ball and just looking at you like nothings weird

Hi Manly! I think you missed a few interactions, i found them during my playthrough -You can return the scissors before completing the ritual -After forming the party, you can take more than one rune They don't actually change anything to the story but they're pretty interesting
We can see that manly is a true man of culture making exactly what we were thinking: making a funny syncro dance! Yeez, my first thought was how catchy the soundtrack is.
It's odd that the demo went to the trouble of giving Kat not just a backstory that ties into the disappearances and occult, but also a personality. Things like her commenting on fire, knowing how to pick locks, having a bad reputation among the students, thinking about how she likes the quiet. That's more than they had to do who they might have killed off so her friend, probably named Lily, has reason to look into this.
I’d guess it’s so the players try to find a way to save Kat, even if it’s for nothing. Kat’s friend is going to look for her, possibly by trying to find another golden envelope and look into where they come from. This prologue is giving the player something to get invested in, and showing the player how bad a wrong move can be (I don’t think the ritual is ever preformed perfectly). In the information we get from the prologue is going to useful as well, the whole “your actions have consequences so be careful” point has been drilled in.
Hey Manly, Paper Lily chapter 1 is now fully out on Steam! Hope to you see you play it! It’s really enjoyable and Chapter 1 has improved so much since the prologue.
And now back to spooky rituals resulting spooky shenanigans I remember this from a while back. This build really seems polished. Really do like the selection of music and the art does look improved. But it always looked good. I love seeing manly get a full party and having them dance to the music. Ive been doing the same since the first time i saw his play through of corpse party. Speaking of which there do be some parallels between the two. School at night and rituals and such. Seeing all the gold envelopes, it seems those (possibly hot) demon guys or whatever is the source of the spooks have been trying to trick others in to being spirited away. Maybe the main game will have dead bodies scattered about everywhere to show previous victims. i do like that normal school slowly gets distorted as soon as most of the rituals done, That 5 minute and 100 second countdown probably just acts as a way to fully get spirited away. If not you can escape. Kats just trying to find her dad. So maybe the dad is a character in the main game. In some of the endings, if Kats resolution to under go the ritual is weakened she seems more unwilling to try it or even forget about it. Furthermore the notes and other stuff disappear. Either someone else gets spirited away or the demons just take it back so they dont track unwanted attention as there is a case of multiple people going missing. I wonder if the main character of project lily will be as charismatic as Kat here. Kat may be dead or she may be alive with her 3 new friends or people who just look at her as a plant killing psychopath. Either way she might not be in the main game much or at all. Cant wait for the full game! meow

Huh. I was wondering if you could protect the other girls by giving them the leftover runes, but I guess not...? Anyway, great stuff! Looking forward to seeing you play the full game once it's released!
I just played through this a few days ago and combed through, looking for all different types of reactions you could get by doing different things. The amount of variety is fantastic. But yeah, looking forward to playing more, and I'm glad you went through both the original version and this one!
I like this game. The rework is actually great, like the group following and the sprites look much more ANIME than before (in the good way). The music is very fettig according to location and 'certain moments of may-or-may-not-deaths'. The most important part is though: the music in the girl-hangout room *slaps mad*
If you ask me, the obviously best--and maybe even cannon--ending is where you and the four girls go home after being told to by the spirit in the hallway. And that's because it takes legit work to reach, rather than the easiest--and worst--endings.
Should've been a canon ending option than "dead end". Especially when it appears that Kat and the girl's lives are inconsequential anyways. Would've been sick.
@@nuibaba280 I personally think it is the canon ending, as there's nothing to suggest that the one ending that was shown in the demo, or the worst endings of the full game, are the canon endings at all.
No? The canon ending is dead end 4 and K1 (since they both lead to the same outcome, Kat eventually going missing) thus leading to the actual main story, Paper Lily.
STRONG feeling that the end where she ran into the ?ghost? that told her to leave may actually be cannon. It feels distant from the rest, and she seems to have importance to the plot - though she may not be protag, and it probably has a lot to do with her occult-hunting father (who was probably the ghost).
Yeah also I dont think the other girls are dead since they didn’t take part in the ritual and those bodies where fake in the main end otherwise their is no way to win since that would mean the entity is not bound by the rules so you automatically lose so if they are dead then yeah no there needs to be an alternate route from the ending your talking about

ITS NOT DEAD!
i wanted so much to see the finished game in so long -- wait its still being developed lmao
still, im happy the project is going strong! its a pretty cool looking one!
It looks to be episodic, so the full version of Project Kat ie This - then Chapter 1 and so on.
As unlikely as it seems at this point I do kind of hope kat makes an appearance somewhat in paper lily, did quite like her as a character
@@faco1117 I liked all the characters in this Project. Upsetting that they all had to die.
just finished the video, the mystery is on point for me tbf
if kat's gone, then im sure curious about the actual protagonist
@@faco1117 Well, if ending 8 is canon, the possibility still exists. Maybe we'll find her half-dead still waiting in that room to be rescued, when we go into the other dimension. Her arc with the dad would be cut short if she was already dead, so this will remain my headcanon until proven otherwise :)
24:04 my fav part in this entire video: the synchronized dancing
i just find it too adorable hahaha
same lol
Lmao same
I would make a 1 hour clip if only Manly made it loopable but he didn't spin 2 times in the same way
That potato: it’s so adorable
Everyone 6 minutes later: gets brutally murdered
Damnit, I liked Kat.. maybe she doesn't truly die, though, and we'll see her again? Notice how the voice in the true end says "Everybody should try it at least once." To me this implies that people here don't die permanently, or maybe they turn into.. whatever the hell the creepy demon monsters are.
Someone else suggested Kat maybe allowed to leave by sacrificing someone else. She might try to sacrifice Blonde protag
@@amelianekomimi1936 That's an interesting thought, almost reminds me of Cat in the Box (And no, it's not just because of the name haha)
i never found it myself, so i'm glad there's endings (even if they're 'bad') where you leave with the girls and nobody dies. when i played the original demo, i was sad to find out that you and the others die regardless. even if they're bad ends, at least they're nice
This remake version did a fantastic job at making all of the girls likable. A god damn shame that they're not given an out.
Personally I can't stand Kat.
Wait, Kat won't be the protagonist!? 😭😭😭
Saki, Kaya, and Juli supremacy tbh.
what's the name of the original game?
@@nuibaba280 YES
same i like kat as protagonist, she is very reasonable and cute i hope in when the full game release we can save her someway
E
*yes.*
So when I had played the demo, I was really hoping that the hair had some sort of big role, like, the hair represents who is doing the ritual, maybe who is supposed to have safe passage, which would change the ending obviously depending on whose hair you used.
*synchronized dance break!* Manly's joy in bopping out to the Clubroom song makes me happy too.
"No running in the hallways"
"Hold shift to run!"
I like how you go straight into the game, instead of rambling for 20 minutes straight like other commentators. :)
I work extremely long shifts and coming home to watch manly is the highlight of my day. Love you dude
I hope you had a good shift and a nice rest
@@renyangze I hope you will have a beautiful night that will make you forget everything bad
Yeah. That could be a story point.
Ok but imagine you're in a spooky well made horror game and then the demon is just in a basketball court playing basket ball and just looking at you like nothings weird
"If this ritual involves the mass genocide of harmless plants, then I would do nothing."
So can I cut the harmful ones then?
barely started the video but i have to say, oh my gosh the art and the ui has improved so much!!! the old art was fine but it's so nice to see the artist improve during the course of its development!!
I BELIEVE PAPER LILY IS OUT NOW! If you're able to play it soon would be awesome!!
_wHy WouLd yOu giVE yOuR pReY aN esCaPe_
Because a cornered animal fights the hardest. It's strategically imperative to always leave your enemy an escape, a perceived way out - even if it's just a trap you set up.
It’s also more fun
While I can't wait for Paper Lily, I still can't help but hope there's a good end for Kat somewhere, as unlikely as it seems to be.
Hi Manly!
I think you missed a few interactions, i found them during my playthrough
-You can return the scissors before completing the ritual
-After forming the party, you can take more than one rune
They don't actually change anything to the story but they're pretty interesting
I Just noticed that chapter 1 of Paper lily is out since January 2024! I Would love to see you continue this series!
I wanted this version for so long, the demo was great.
"Saki's headless body"
You mean *body-less head* ?
Manly: *plays a horror game*
Also Manly on horror games: 24:05
Hey Manly, Paper Lily chapter 1 is now fully out on Steam! Hope to you see you play it! It’s really enjoyable and Chapter 1 has improved so much since the prologue.
YEEEEEAAAAAH! It's finally out! I'm very excited for this one
E: Oh, nevermind, it's just a demo. Still, glad to see this game pop up again!
It is not a demo, it's a stand alone game and part of the Paper Lily "saga". Project Kat is a demo of this.
Doubly nevermind then
@@ManlyBadassHero
As much as I would like it to be free, I would gladly pay to play it.
i imagine a game this detailed is gonna take ages to come out,, just hoping the developers persevere!
The artwork for the four girls and their expressions and body postures are all lively and well done.
"I know more about you them you think"
"Let me show"
Plays: Raid shadow lagend ad
I got a crypto currency app ad instead. Wish I was that lucky😑
My guess is that the mystery demon playing with Kat is some kind of yandere who wants to make Kat their little toy.
"Lemme show you something"
RUclips ad: AH HELL YEAH, THATS MY CHANCE!
And now back to spooky rituals resulting spooky shenanigans
I remember this from a while back. Cant wait for the full game! meow
Wow, really impressed at how manlybadasshero simply decided to take out all flowers and IT WORKED! He's one of a kind.

Manly one of the only youtubers where can multitask with
watch without losing interest
watch for background noise
fall alseep to
basically I luv him loll
the 3 girls has a genuine personality, its really pleasing, adds up more spice to the story,it makes the storyline more memorable and i am currently craving for more
their looks also "interwines" with their persona as well
out of the 3 girls, the one i adore the most is the preety (juli),in my opinion she does not act like the popular girls which is known to be preety
(I know not all preety girls in the world wants to be popular)
,making her look a little unique.she is coolheaded, serious, not overreactive, matured
with the looks of a fine porcelain, the intricacy on her and with such solemn demeanor.i instantly got hooked to her. she is becoming my waifu and its horrifying of how well the designs and the "pure" personality that was placed unto these girls
juli is one heck of a girl, even if she is not actually being appealing or interesting to watch
a new waifu it is
I really like Kat's and Saki's interaction with each other
The game has an update. An new chapter. I really want to see you play it!
Considering mbh didnt reached 1million subs yet although he is one of youtube's og creators is unbelievable to me. However, your commentary will never disappoints me mbh. Keep up the good work!!
right?!
I really love the interactions you can have with the girls ! So much work done by the devs
Yooo manly! Chapter 1 of paper lily is out! Can't wait for you to play it!
Huh. I was wondering if you could protect the other girls by giving them the leftover runes, but I guess not...?
Anyway, great stuff! Looking forward to seeing you play the full game once it's released!
"Let me show you something" *Plays an skippable ad* oh well the i guess this is now apart of the game then
Paper Lily Chapter 1 was released!
Ponytail girl: “I never took you as the occult type”
Kat: “That’s because I’m not”
Also Kat: Does a ritual involving murder and demons
Ritual Rules: Must be done solo.
Girls to Kat: Can't we tag along?
Kat: Okay I guess.
Me: OH NO NO NO NO NO! Rituals are very strict with the rules!
Please play Paper Lily, its honestly such a good game, reminded me of the Purgatory series with some parts.
"Let me show you something"
The perfectly timed ad I got: *"TWISTED TEA IS THE BEST ICED TEA-"*
"Kat, I know more about you than you think. Let me show you something."
-> Google Nest ad
I just played through this a few days ago and combed through, looking for all different types of reactions you could get by doing different things. The amount of variety is fantastic. The one I'm sad that didn't get shown here is that if you're quick, you can talk to the dad in the flashback scene. It's... really creepy. ._. But yeah, looking forward to playing more, and I'm glad you went through both the original version and this one!
"Get trapped in school and hopefully survive!"
Students: he gets it!
It is very clear to me that manlybadasshero is a man who thoroughly enjoys synchronized dancing.
He's manly chill and also he has a calming voice so that I don't get scared even though the jump scares
Manly, we need to see you play the next part please 🙏 I’m hooked with this story.
I'm so looking forward to seeing chapter 1 video. The game is so good and the music is absolutely magical
No wonder why you're a badass, because you find underrated games.
This is giving me some strong Corpse party Vibes. Wonder how the full game will play out.
We got the same thought bruh 🤣😂
nah g that feels even worse
I like this game. The rework is actually great, like the group following and the sprites look much more ANIME than before (in the good way). The music is very fettig according to location and 'certain moments of may-or-may-not-deaths'. The most important part is though: the music in the girl-hangout room *slaps mad*
i can’t believe they updated this, can’t wait to watch the video

There's a Project Kat Demo and a Project Kat Prologue.
This one is considered to be a Prologue, while the rest of the Chapters is upcoming.
No?
The canon ending is dead end 4 and K1
(since they both lead to the same outcome, Kat eventually going missing)
thus leading to the actual main story, Paper Lily.
I feel like Kat might still be alive due to the protective rune
So the very beginning of this game they just... left a girl sleeping at her desk until 11 PM
Hey Manly, Chapter 1 of Paper Lily has released and is even better than this one. It would be lovely to see a video someday.
Thanks to your first run through the demo last year I really got into this game and will be purchasing it as soon as it's out! 😊
Nothing better than synchronized dancing with the girls.
Bout time they released the game! Lets goooo!
Edit: well an updated version of the game anyways...
“No running in the hallways”
*Press shift to run*
STRONG feeling that the end where she ran into the ?ghost? that told her to leave may actually be cannon. It feels distant from the rest, and she seems to have importance to the plot - though she may not be protag, and it probably has a lot to do with her occult-hunting father (who was probably the ghost).
Yeah also I dont think the other girls are dead since they didn’t take part in the ritual and those bodies where fake in the main end otherwise their is no way to win since that would mean the entity is not bound by the rules so you automatically lose so if they are dead then yeah no there needs to be an alternate route from the ending your talking about
Right as I said "Don't worry It's probably just a corpse party situation" Manly said they are perfect for a corpse party situation. That timing was perfect.
These dead ends are really what should be a cannon end for the prologue, lol
gotta make you understand that i love your videos and never gonna unsubscribe never gonna let you down and hurt you
I would really love to see a horror occult story where the mc does occult stuff but the first two occult finds nothing happens and the third deaths and such happens
It really will be scary
Man, I'm so glad I've come across your videos again, you're just a gem. The attitude you take to these games, whether deciphering the meaning and intention behind the stories, to just jamming out and moving your posse in beat to the bgm, it all feels authentic.
Keep on Manly, and take care
