Great game which l had forgotten. It’s strange how few l remember from Town’s golden years. Any Sunderland fans reading this- it was always a pleasure to visit Roker Park. Friendly fans, even the coppers were decent. At the opposite end of the spectrum from Leeds
Great memories of Alan Durban's first game in charge and of course a certain Mr McCoist!! And the late Mick Buckley netting twice ( Was always a favourite of mine) And as always such wonderful vocal support👏
One of my favourite games. The first time we wore the 'candy' strip. The first game in charge for Alan Durban. Debuts for Pickering and super Ally McCoist. Glorious East Anglia sunshine. Happy days.
This is the team for this game - Alan Durban's first game in charge : Turner, Hinnigan, Munro, Buckley, Clarke, Hindmarch, Chisolm, Ritchie, Brown, Rowell, Pickering. Two and a half years later the team in Durbans last game was : Turner, Venison, Pickering, Atkins, Chisolm, Elliot, Bracewell, Rowell, Chapman, Proctor, James. That's steady progression considering Durban had very little money to spend. 4 of his new players (Venison, Atkins, Bracewell and Chapman) would win First Division league titles after leaving Sunderland. Another missed opportunity.....

That Ipswich shirt has to be one of the greatest shirts any side has ever worn, an utter classic.
Definitely. They’ve brought it back for this season in the PL.

Thanks for this. I watched this a few weeks ago on 'The Big Match Revisited '.
Brazil and McCoist now a great team on Talksport
A fine match. Osman and Brazil not at their best. In the evening it was the premier of the film 'Escape to Victory' which featured ITFC players.
