You can tell Peter loved what he was doing and a great guitar player always uses his mouth to show what he's playing! (Making faces) I can't wait until he starts on the talkbox, if you've not seen this before coupled with a guitar you're going to love it!
@@Imadrummin That's right, because this 1975 appearance on TMS was when Frampton was not particularly well known in America. His big break here came the following year with the monster album, Frampton Comes Alive!

I bought Frampton comes alive on lp when it come out then a few years later i got it on cassette for my car then when the cd come out i bought a player to put in my car and run across the cd and had to buy it too
I wish, for once, someone would react to the Frampton Comes Alive version. Everyone reacts to the Midnight Special version. It is good, but it's not Frampton's audience, it is a studio reserved crowd. It's missing the atmosphere.
@@magneto7930 I agree Magneto but this was for Harri to see Frampton and the band. I still may sponsor the version we all know and love. Don't give up on us Magneto. 😀
Growing up in the 1970's, everybody had a record player, and everybody had Frampton Comes Alive! on display in their vinyl collections. I have countless memories of people wearing out the grooves on that record. Absolutely legendary. To this day, it's a permanent fixture on classic rock radio stations and between the guitar work and infectious groove, still holds up as well as it ever has.
This is why Peter Frampton gets a lot of respect from the monumental guitarists. Love how he can show his feeling through the guitar. In another world....the way it should be. Thank you very much Harri for the great reaction. 👍👍👍
Send there's been a few people to do that with the Voicebox. But I believe he is actually the original first person to use one to the best of my knowledge, he was a real Pioneer.
Interesting that you made the comment about Peter's singing at the beginning of this song emulating David Bowie a little bit. Peter and Bowie went to school together, and Peter's dad Owen was a school teacher (music) and taught Bowie. They were good friends and remained friends. So much so, that when Frampton's popularity waned in the 80's Bowie reached out to him and asked him to play guitar for him on one of his big tours. Frampton credits that for helping him get out of a serious depression. That's what I call a great Friend!!!
Humble pie, rockin the Filmore, great guitar work by Peter. I don't need no doctor will blow your socks off. Love your channel. Keep it up Man. I'm 67 and thoroughly dig it.
One of the greatest high energy concerts I ever went to! I was 16 & glad I grew up in the decade of the BEST music EVER! Even my 25 yo Son agrees (he grew up listening to Mom & Dad music!)
I still have 2 copies of Frampton Comes Alive, on vinyl, I bought around 79. Should be mandatory for music lovers or everyone really to experience it once in their lifetime. Thanks.
In 1977, saw Peter Frampton live at the Fabulous Forum opening for KISS with Cheap Trick!! Amazing show! Frampton was so good that I went out and bought Frampton Comes Alive 2-album set! Please do SHOW ME THE WAY & LINES ON MY FACE. Thank you! 😁🎸
Peter blew the roof off the joint! His music has such a rock tapestry, a signature difference from other rock guitarists. Thank you Ima Drummin & Harri!
"Lines On My Face" off the Frampton Comes Alive! album has some beautiful guitar work on it. The opening track, "Something's Happening" is a lot of fun to listen too. Just a really good straight-ahead rock song. The '70's! What a time to be a teenager!
Thank you for your interesting reply. I'm a music buff and I love history of music. That is something I never knew both that. Peter played on Bowie's album, and bowie was taught by peter's dad. That is extremely interesting to me, so thank you.
One of the highest selling albums back then. Also played Billy Shears in the Beatles inspired movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A 1978 American jukebox musical comedy film directed by Michael Schultz, written by Henry Edwards and starring an ensemble cast led by Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees. He was such a cutie back then too, ha ha...all us girls thought so!
I love that you mention David Bowie. Peter Frampton was childhood friends with Bowie. They were school mates and played together as adults. They were lifelong friends,
To judge if someone is a top 10 or top 20 of the "greatest" guitarists is subjective to say the least. I certainly consider Mr. Frampton to be "one of the best".... whatever that means. I simply like his sound and his style of playing. He did not invent the TALK BOX but he was the first one that I heard use it. Great reaction. Take care.
Peter Frampton often went on tour, and was very successful. But he would also release albums, and people wouldn’t really buy many. After years of this, Frampton finally figured out the obvious. He released a live album! Frampton Comes Alive was instantly one of the best selling albums in the world.
LEGENDARY....I saw Peter do this song at the L.A. Forum in 1977. Frampton played a guitar solo, then a piano solo, then a drum solo in the same song… a 30 minute version of this song….AMAZING
I completely agree with you, Hari. Peter’s playing is very melodic and beautiful. He is one of my very favorite guitarists. Wonderful reaction. Thank you!
61 years old and grew up with Frampton. Darken the room, put the headphones on and crank this song. Any stressors of the day simply disappear. Special place in my soul when I hear this song.

Frampton came alive alright and he kicked the door down in the spring of '76. So much good music came out in the mid seventies and this classic is no different. Sitting here listening to this as I type and it's as good as ever. He played here in an outside concert that spring with Fleetwood Mac and other notable bands that drew a 100,000. Love this selection, Imadrummin and your reaction as well, Harri!
Thank you my brother. Chose this over the Frampton Comes Alive version so Harri could see Frampton playing it live and not sitting and staring at an album cover for the 14 minute version. 😀😀😀
Per your remark about how his singing reminded you of David Bowie- Both Peter Frampton and David Bowie attended the same high school. They were 3 years apart. Peter Frampton's father was Bowie's Art teacher. Frampton would tour with Bowie in the late 80s.

Saw Frampton live at the July 2,1977 Day on the Green show in Oakland. He was the headliner, and The Outlaws, Santana, and Lynyrd Skynyrd played before him. He gave a great performance, but surprisingly, about a 3rd of the huge crowd left after Skynryd. At least that allowed me to move in to a better location to watch Peter. There's footage of Frampton from this show here on YT, besides the well-known video of Skynyrd playing Free Bird that everyone reacts to.

Saw him in Vancouver this tour. He was amazing, Chuck Berry like Duck Walks and all. A real performer. As much as I loved Humble Pie, you could see that they held him back.
One of the few rockers who employed tons of jazz licks into his playing. Hybrid blues, jazz and pure rock licks. Always wished I could play like him. He could play fast stuff but never overwhelming shredding. Always tasteful and appropriate. Considering he was from Humble Pie, his progression to solo artist was a gift of smoothness and melody compared to the raw edginess of Humble Pie. Thankfully, he is still with us.
Peter Frampton is one of a few artists that sounds better live than in studio. Harri, you should listen to his version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", make sure it a live version, you'll love it
It’s a talkbox Harri, not a vocoder. Frampton is one of the three masters of the talkbox that I know. He’s the only one who uses it with a guitar though. The other two are Roger Troutman and Teddy Riley, who use it with a synth. Teddy apparently has Roger’s talkbox by the way.
Hey Harri. Thank you for playing one of the best videos ever made. I have another iconic video that I often play. He doesnt use a voice box, but a vocoder. Its Herbie Hancock and " I thought It Was You". Try to get the live version.
