    I love harvesting, too.I pickled some beets and the stems.I pickled some tomatoes and pickling cucumbers .I had to stop eating the okra and green beans so I could have some to freeze .lol, I'm sure by the end of summer, I will have a lot more.Im just eating my veggies out of the garden FRESH! I also love having my own herbs to dehydrate and use fresh for my pickles. Great harvest !

      It is a great feeling to be able to go into the garden and get your own food and not buy it from the store. Summer gardening is hard because you have so many pests to deal with, and it gets soo hot, but I love it! I love the foods you can grow, and I love harvesting it all, I love preserving it! I can stand in the garden and eat all the okra off the plant!! 😂🤣 I know you are having a great time with your garden! Thanks for your visit!! 😊💕

    Lisa, I am interested in how you are cooking your broccoli leaves. My sister and I have many broccoli plants and would like to use the leaves as well as the heads and stalks.

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes ma'am! We usually will cook the broccoli leaves with Collards and/or Kale. I mix them with other greens to make a big pot of greens! 😉😉 We cook them in a pot for an hour or two. We will use a smoked meat, turkey necks or turkey wings, or so kind of smoked pork. We like that boil or cook for about 15 to 30 minutes. Then we add our greens and let them cook until they are done. And, season to taste. There are other ways to cook them, but that's the way we cook them. All brassicas pretty much you can eat their leaves. The tender ones taste better mixed together, and the thicker ones taste better together. Kohlrabi, broccoli, cauliflower leaves all taste good with collards because their leaves are all thick and takes about the same time to cook. If you try cooking them, let me know how you like them! Thanks for watching!! 😊😊💕💕

      Yeh we do have a few things growing but nothing compared to what we normally do.lts not just me hundreds if not thousands of our gardener's are in the same boat.lts all down to the terrible weather we've had and are still having.lts very cold at night down to 6c which is practically unheard of in this country and the rain just keeps on coming.So its not just me,l feel so sorry for the farmers they are having big problems growing stuff. Big warm hugs to you both ❤

      Hey there! I usually have good success in winter sow, but this year was a flop. That was the only plant that survived. I didn't have my bottle taped up good for 1, and I just made all kinds of mistakes with it! But, I am proud of that one Kohlrabi! That tulle did a great job protecting those plants! All my brassicas are usually eaten up by now in Spring gardening. I will plant a lot more varieties of brassicas in the Fall too! Stay blessed my friend!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

    Hi your garden is beautiful! I winter sowed broccoli and brussel sprouts in January. I have neither head on nothing😂. Perhaps I need to fertilize with fish emulsion as well. Enjoy your lovely harvest.

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  4 месяца назад

      Thank you! I usually try to use fish emulsion every 10 to 14 days, and sometimes it may go out 21 days. My sister makes comfrey tea, which the plants love that too. Most times she will add fish emulsion in her comfrey tea. It's all kinds of teas you can mix up to feed your plants. Most gardeners makes up the compost tea. If you don't have a compost pile, then you can save kitchen scraps and put into rain water and let it sit for 2 or 3 days and add fish emulsion and plants love it!! The fertilizers you use breaks down over time, the water soluble fertilizers like fish emulsion take affect right away! That's why when you saw me planting my tomatoes I put all my fertilizers in the hole where the plant went in, and after everything is planted I watered everything with fish emulsion to give them a boost right away. Thank you for watching! See ya next time!!😊😊🌻🌹🌷

    Hi Lisa!!!! I think this is the first time I’ve not heard the cicadas, since mentioning it a few videos back! Quiet and lovely to sit and enjoy your calm demeanor and beautiful garden and bountiful harvest! ❤ Up here in Seattle, things aren’t quite as far along yet in my garden, except my collards, which are my pride and joy! Do you mind sharing how you built your cover for your brassicas? I’ve got my collards in a bunch of grow bags and need a solution to cover them ❤

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  4 месяца назад +1

      Hello there!! Yes, I think the cicadas are either all dying or they're leaving and I am sooo glad! They were so loud and annoying!! How I covered those grow bags is I stuck some rebar down in the ground to hold the pvc pipes. I criss crossed the pvc pipe so it holds up the material better. The material is tulle. Tulle is thin so air and rain can get to the plants, but pests and insects can't get in if covered good. That is a huge piece of tulle we have over them. It actually doubles. I put clips on to hold the tulle. and that's it! 😉😉 Let me know if you have anymore questions. Thank you for watching! 😊😊

      @@gardeningwithlisa thanks for explaining. I might give that a try - except I’m worried how rocky my ground is here. I was looking at the mosquito netting for beds that ties to the ceiling on Amazon. Only $7.99-$9.99. I could maybe hang it from a tall pole and let it drape over the plants. Just thinking.
