I had several of the original issues, but not the whole run. I got the original graphic novel they did by P. Craig Russell. I so wanted a complete collection of it. I didn't care for the b/w essentials. So when this came out I snapped it up.
Also, Don McGregor would take some ideas to create his own series Sabre over at Eclipse.

    At least it looks cool.

I don't want to insult you but there is a definite anti-literate faction in comics that wants all dialogue at a Hulk level. I am reminded of AMADEUS when the Emperor complains about "too any notes." DEATH IN THE FAMILY didn't move you? How did you come down on the debate between Killraven and Carmilla over killing the Martian children?

That's not me. I write novels for a living. But there's a happy medium where you can let the art breathe a little.

Don McGregor has some great writing, but 100% agree with you about TOO MUCH DIALOGUE!!!

I am currently reading "Killraven Epic Collecton".
I have read about 20 Marvel Epic Collections so far and this is surely my least favorite.
It is a very uneven book. The early issues are fun adventures, some issues are very depressing while other issues are too "philosophical".
The Art style is all over the place. There was on issue where our heroes end up in a building that seems to bring out their dreams. It was so heavy handed and surreal that I didn't even know what I was reading. An interesting concept that just doesn't "Gel".
Also originally it was issued every other month..... I would have forgotten the storyline in that amount of time.

I picked up Killraven back in the day. I remember the art by P. Craig Russell being so fantastic and other worldly. Don was heavy handed with his script but being a kid I probably glossed over enough to still keep track of the story line. ...don't know if you've reviewed Warlock over at DC Comics but that's a great book if you haven't. ...again, great art in that book.
