  • Neato Robotics Botvac D7 Connected falls off a cliff, twice.
    I started the vacuum cleaning a section of my house that is not part of its single map that allows virtual walls, so it was relying on its sensors to avoid hazards.. I heard a clunk, and found it had fallen off the edge of a stair. I re-started it, and when it approached the stair, I started filming. It fell off again.
    I looked at the bottom, and found a few spiderwebs across the cliff sensor, I removed those, and now it is avoiding the cliff.

    Came here to say that mine did as well, but took a bigger trip from the second floor to the first floor and is now a dead robot :D

      That gives you an opportunity to buy a different brand. I have not been happy with the neato robotics vacuum. It is limited in the number of maps you are allowed to store, the side brush is too far from the corner of the case to clean corners properly, the side brush is only on one side, so there are some corners it can't clean at all. The algorithm is particularly stupid, and I must re-run the cleaning task multiple times to ensure it cleans the whole map. The lidar motor failed in my unit burning out a ribbon cable. Neato robotics does not sell replacement parts, nor does it give you any information about what parts are used. I was able to find a replacement ribbon cable at digikey, and a replacement motor on Amazon, and got it working again. I dissected the failed motor and found that one of the brushes was worn through, causing a piece to break off and short out the motor, which caused the ribbon cable to burn.
      The damned thing also waits until the scheduled time to clean before it decides that it needs its dust bin emptied, and refuses to clean. Many times when I try to initiate a manual cleaning, it will say "downloading map" for several minutes, then silently fail, pretending it was never asked to clean. I'm also finding it is cleaning 7 minutes before the scheduled time. When this finally fails, I will not be replacing it with another Neato Robotics product.

      @@douglaspeale9727 Agreed, I was happy with it at first but needed to spend a lot of time with no go zones and mapping and then after a while it would get stuck for no reason which is frustrating

    i honestly feel like neato is gonna go out of business soon. i thought about getting a neato, but then i read some insanely bad reviews on best buy's website, and so i never bought one. my roomba i7+ works amazingly well, except for idk...LEAVING PET HAIR ON THE FUCKING RUG INSTEAD OF VACUUMING IT UP SINCE IT SPITS IT OUT BECAUSE THE RUG ISN'T LEVEL. the roomba s9 works amazingly as well! there used to be tons of error 31 issues but now that's pretty much fixed, since that was happening when that robot first came out.

      I don’t think they will. They are owned by Vorwerk and they use neato for Kobold robot vacuums

    ouch ! i dont know why i see this in my suggestion since i own a ecovacs , my god i dodge a bullet not buying a Neato. I woul've thought it would do better than the round robots because of its squared body , but nope other way around !

    So the vacuum has no sensors but did it break?

    • @douglaspeale9727
      @douglaspeale9727  Год назад

      It does have edge sensors, but it can't tell when they are blocked. Note the spiderwebs on botvac. That was only two steps, so it did not break.
