......actually, the more I think about it, I can see what she's describing. 'Softcore romantic tragedy,' I'll call it. Sometimes, relationships just don't work out, and it isn't necessarily the fault of either person involved. It's good to be able to part on friendly terms in a circumstance like that, but...well, there's a certain _something_ to knowing that if the two people had met under just _slightly_ different circumstances, it would have worked. The trope Matsuri is describing is seen somewhat in Homer's Odyssey. Odysseus told his wife she could remarry if he died during the war, but even after he disappeared, she denied any suitors. Once Odysseus returned, he went on a rampage and killed all the potential suitors. Also these stories are very common during wartime. A man goes off to war and goes MIA, and his wife is left with the decision to move on without the validation of his death, or to live the rest of her life out waiting for her love to return. As a male, I would really, really want my significant other to wait out for me, but I also imagine how I would feel if my wife disappeared. I would start to want that romantic bond back, even if I wasn't sure she was dead. It's a bit sexist, and a bit of a double standard, but good lord, I would hate to come home to my wife after being a POW for 20 years, only to find her with her new husband and children. I would absolutely lose the will to live. That desire to be the one and only of someone else would be crushed. I couldn't just accept that. It's not as bad as being cheated on, but it still hurts.
You describe with Odysseus case is actually a wife staying loyal rather than be put in a dilemma of a former love and a new love. Because she knew he didn't die in the war, she never lost love, because the love she had for him wasn't romantic, but closer to an obligation. One she took on willingly.

Well. From an objective point of view the guy who the girl loses touch with but to whom she said she’d be waiting for should just understand if she’s with some other guy because he completely lost touch with her and they weren’t in a relationship to begin with. It’d be a different story if they were though.
Tabako is mega sad and I can see how that stuff can be a therapeutic guilty pleasure for people who have already experienced similar heartbreak. I can only wonder if that's the case for Matsuri...
...wow. That was, uh...somehow a hell of a lot more wholesome than I would expect of Matsuri, but also every bit as weird as I would expect of Matsuri. This isn't NTR. This is...for lack of a better term, 'tragic yet sincere coincidence.'

I'm kidding of course, I'm pretty sure this is just fantasy and she wouldn't actually want real life heartbreaking, just like how people enjoy NTR, or R*pe, but obviously wouldn't want it IRL. Speaking of NTR, this isn't it, this is a whole other fantasy, NTR is non-consensual.
I'm really not sure if matsuri's been in that sort of situation before, but trust me, it's NOT heart wrenching at all. It's more of a minefield than anything else really. Then again this is from my personal experience so I'm not sure what other people have gone through
Well. From an objective point of view the guy who the girl loses touch with but to whom she said she’d be waiting for should just understand if she’s with some other guy because he completely lost touch with her and they weren’t in a relationship to begin with. It’d be a different story if they were though.
I don't see why so many people here are not understanding that. NTR is apparently losing its basic meaning in common usage
Big OOF x9000, RIP my manga guy
why is she so 3d i am shook oh god oh no
Tabako is mega sad and I can see how that stuff can be a therapeutic guilty pleasure for people who have already experienced similar heartbreak. I can only wonder if that's the case for Matsuri...
she be precious to bits
so Matsuri likes NTR
...wow. That was, uh...somehow a hell of a lot more wholesome than I would expect of Matsuri, but also every bit as weird as I would expect of Matsuri. This isn't NTR. This is...for lack of a better term, 'tragic yet sincere coincidence.'
When did she get that new model? It's a bit...off. I think she speaks too quickly for it to keep up with her. That said she is Matsuri which means I don't really have to watch because her voice is enough.
So she needs to read True Beauty.
Im just a bit confused...i get that it is heartbreaking for the readers/listeners of that story, but how is it heartbreaking for the girl in the story?
For a second i thought she would start talking about NTR)
I love heartbreak scenes better than loveydovey
So it’s like “La La Land”.
I think I get that bittersweet melancholic feeling Matsuri wants
Someone just YEETED in the chat.
