I just literally said the same thing! Love it 💜💜💜. U know the band had to always be ready sounds as if he might have just sprung it on them.. love Prince
This recording is awesome. If the original version is anything like this it was surely an undiscovered hit. Great rhythmic feel and use of space. It has pauses which are cool. It breathes and doesn't get too repetitive. Great move on his part.
I never heard this live version. It's like a new song . Definitely was one of my favorite on that LP. I had to replay it. Man oh man what a musical genius
2023 first time I heard this song, first time listening to the album. This is my favorite on it, and it's just over 2 mins. I actually liked the LP version over the live, but the album version could have been expanded. *note: I'm an 80s baby
Wow!! Amazing!! Thought I’d never hear a live version of this great song. Definite fave off that first album. Thanks for sharing. Once a genius always a genius
Can't tell you how much I adore this song. Takes me right back to the beginning. Is there a video of this performance anywhere? I hope they release his early shows they're so raw, unpolished and supersexy 😍💜
I don't think this is the live recording from Sam's in March of 1981. There's another recording that was circulating (audience) of that entire show. This is entirely different live performance.
Prince should have put this song on one of his albums, Controversy or 1999 album. I think this might of turned into a single; it has a good mid-tempo groove. But it reminds me of some of the songs/music from the “I Wanna Be Your Lover” “Sexy Dancer” album.
@@saylormcvernon226 I didn’t know that… I never heard all the songs from his very 1st album. Only Soft & Wet; 1978/79, I was still kinda too young before I get into music. I hadn’t heard of Prince yet during that time.
It was recorded on "for you" album, but studio version surely. It is absolutely masterpiece. Nobody can compare to Prince. He is genius. O(+> I miss him so much as well as harf of the world..
Sounds like Quincy Jones was in the audience during this performance, that riff sounds way too much like MJ “PYT” which happened to come out in “82 a year later after this show 🤔🤔
Some say it was about vanity because he didn't understand her mood swings before finding out about the cocaine use. Not sure if it's true since they met in 1979-80.

Quest Love played a live version of this a few yrs ago during his week of spinning Prince songs
Me too, I'm shocked

Does anybody have the original video of his gig? i believe this is a real masterpiece by Prince🎉
I love how prince live is a completely different experience than the original recordings. This is amazing
What an interesting 1981 arrangement, post Dirty Mind. Such a different feel from the original sweet baby Prince version of ‘78. Genius.
The journey of his music was amazing, from when he was Champagne. Grand Central.
That funky guitar 🎸 work is BEYOND AMAZING and 2nd 2 NONE! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Right! The guitar is everything!!!🎉

Wow it’s like a funkier reggae versions. I love it.. amazing
Damn this one almost has a Jamaican/reggae feel to it!

The fact he could rearrange any piece of music and make a new groove out of it, beat on this def a whole vibe
I'm blessed 🙌 2 have seen Prince perform 9 times live. last 3 shows I sat front row. Gone 2 soon. ❤
Me too. followed his concerts all around the globe! What a treat. I won’t tell my story of meeting him in RIO!! Rock n Rio 91!

Can someone help me pick my jaw up off the floor please? 😮
I’m eternally grateful for what I got witness from this man. 💜
Did you see him live during the very early days?
@@hotrodder5034 No:-(. I was in middle school the first time I saw him live…1988 LoveSexy Tour.
Saw Prince perform this song live just before he hooked up with Rick James. It was a cool concert.

you're right. I bet on New York at the ritz 22 march 1981 where he played that song too.
Sign 7 Times lV the best in continuity. Album Complete.
That song is so sexy. The guitar rhythm is kinda anticipatory and then goes back to the hook/chord.
It is not sexy but funky and powerful.
@@stasshustov3443 Whatever dude! I find it sexy. Do you mind! I can hear what I hear. Wtf!
Trying to sound like you know what you're talking about!! Hahahaha

this reminds me of you
Incredible, and in my opinion way better than the OG

This song is on his first album. Different arrangements though.

@@BlaccTony69 Search YT for the original version from his first album, Prince For You.. Enjoy💜

Does anyone know where to find a Video of this concert??
I remeber when they wouldn’t play him on the radio-Prince! or dirty mind.
Have you found this whole show anywhere? I have the show on cd (alledgedly )but it's not as clear as this

i don’t hear it man

This was written in 1977 way before
Wish I could see the actual performance.
