Could work excellently for a parade ground diorama. The command staff up on a balcony closer to the viewer, and below the smaller scale forces on the grounds in the "distance".
Likely because it was as I was painting 3mm pico armor M1 abrams tanks and 2 thin coats of milky paint was to thick and ubsorced detail... So I had to thin my paints even more to get the details to show though.
@@GreenBlueWalkthrough Whatever floats your boat. But at such a small scale (1/600) wouldn't counters work just as well? I will check it out, though as it seems like easy painting and terrain modeling and overall small footprint of the battlefield could be plusses. -Thanks, I was not aware of this version of the hobby space.
@@FinnMcRiangabra Because you can make realistic fireteams, and tank platoons on a 50mm base and have them on a realistic mass battle map on a coffee or dinner table. And your right that is why I turned to it because it's that much fast and easier to paint to a high standard. And your most welcome!
I know, logistically, this wouldnt make sense, but id love to see a game where it starts at Epic scale, but moves into regular scale once it gets to a close quarters battle. Like if they had an objective in a building you see the interior with regular scale models.
Personally I'd love to see epic go all the way, I feel like you don't really get a feeling for it without seeing an army of tiny dudes amasses before you. If I get in it I plan on doing thousand sons, paint the solar aux as prosperine spireguard and do Legio Xestobiax for the titans so the whole force is coherent
I personally prefer the second's colors. they look so vibrant and pull off [REDACTED] so well! Also I find their focus on [REDACTED] to be really suprising. there aren't many Aircraft for space marines
I'm caught between Death Guard and a metallic looking Alpha Legion. I do Death Guard in big HH, but I'm considering something different. What do you think?
It would be epic to see some epic battle reports. I love all your videos but the battle reports are one of my favourites. You can see how much love you put into them so keep up a good work. I will be waiting for more epic content
I would love to see a full dive into Epic. It's always been the best game GW made and thoroughly cool to build a force and these schemes and minis all looked great until the Ultra Close Up stage, where, wow those stretched parts on the bolters and plasma guns are egregious! I went from "Don't think I'll get it, although maybe some of the mechanised stuff" to "oh shit maybe I will have to get this" and then back to "Nah. Unless I get that pure armoured force..." all in one video. Overall I think the night lords and alpha legion looked the best of the traitors (although the iron warriors continue to get massive points for sheer ease of painting) and as always, the blood angels made for a great showing too
Best treatment of the 2nd and 11th Legions I’ve seen on RUclips yet. I bookmarked it and went back to use as a reference on my HH painting, and couldn’t find them for some reason. Did something happen to them? Too bad since I think a lot of people would be interested in seeing your take on those classic color schemes with a twist.
More Epic Please! Also apprecite the extra love for the iron hands in this vid, as a fan, I feel like they are treated like the Beheaded step child sometimes
I would love to see more of epic scale videos! It is insane how you can just casually paint the eyes. Im like 90% you have to measure them in nanometers.
Alpharius turned out really nice. The Word Bearers Drednought too. A bit sad to see all the stretching up close, I might be tempted to do some corrections with the tip of my hobby knife, but it'd be so many models. Table builds and battle reports on this scale would definitely be cool. There are some really awesome stl terrain ranges in that scale to complement the official GW stuff.
These close ups show immense bridges between certain parts that diminish the overall look massively 😢 I‘d love to see more epic on the channel! Maybe just a little further away..? 😅 Thank you for sharing!
I also use a thinned down orange / yellow mix on my Imperial Fists to help bring out some of the definition. Agrath earthshade(thinned down) works well to help add needed contrast to the little yellow guys. Overall Great Job!
oh god i love that night lord so much! I think this is the first time i've seen a model that actually looked like it marches in "Midnight Clad" thank you for this, i love the night lords so much, and their dad evil batman is epic
Oh man, major nostalgia trip. I remember painting up my Epic set way back when. I definitely didnt do justice to the models like you guys did. You knocked it out of the park, well done. Its amazing to see what you can pull off on such a tiny surface area.
I really liked painting my Imperialis stuff. You can hit them with contrast-like paint *thinned again in contrast medium* in a few coats, and they're basically done. Then you just pick out the fun details and do an *medium-thinned* wash or two. It's especially important to use the mediums at this scale because the surface tension of water is high enough to almost guarantee washes/contrasts find the wrong resting places (ask me how I know haha). Thankfully, because it's so small a blot of error only needs a dot of correction.
Would love to see your take on a board and complete armies at this scale. The Space Wolf contrast surprised me the most, it really came out great at that scale.
Great vid again i allways wait you guys vids every week. But i am dying to see the battle report. Keep up the great content and cant wait next vid. Thanks for the great content and vid and tips.
It's really cool GW has produced new "epic scale" figures for an epic game of Horus Heresy, this is where contrast paints are really helpful if not an absolute must have!
While I plan on going imperial fists, I’ve got to say how you did the II and XI definitely tempted me to change my mind. But I just don’t think I like their lore personally.
I was lucky enough to snag up the last box of Aeronautica from my FLGS in anticipation for this game so I’m with Murray on this one and can’t wait to get my hands on this box set!!! Also I think you guys did a fantastic job with painting each of the Legions 👍
Absolutely awesome ! I 3D printed Epic Scale SM''s and Orc combat units when I started long sessions of Chemotherapy - all fitting together with GW dice sets in a small peppermint tin. Perfect for playing on a hospital bed table. Scaled down cardbord terrain pieces printed and folded and campaigns were underway - much to the amusement of Nurses and other paitents (some who thought I'd escaped from a dementia ward 😜). Can't wait to get my hands on this new set (Santa - or my wife, check your "I've been good mail") - looking forward to more great videos.
I loved the Titan Graveyard series you did for the Mechanicus book. With the new hype for Legions Imperialis, it would be a blast to see you recreate that scene using Adeptus Titanicus models rather than the full scale figures.
I would absolutely love to see more Legions Imperialis stuff. My plan is to paint up the box as a shattered Legions force so I can have a nice variety of Iron Hands, Salamanders, and Raven Guard. I also want to do the Titans as Legio Tempestus fighting the traitors after the fall of Deus Tempestus.
Lets go! I really like the way you did WB, which is what I intend to do my marines as, but I fully intend to do a rather large force of SolAux. That said, lets see some nice SolAux painting videos please!!!
I've got this green primer sitting around that I was planning to use for my orks, but then went with a different method of painting. So I'm thinking Salamanders, use a light wash, a few details, and then done!
Paint job you did on some of those is great. I'm bit unhappy with model quality of some infantry - guns having big blob connecting them to actual models is meh. Flame of War did it better in scale close to it.
I would love to see more epic scale things mostly any tips you guys have for building the board and buildings at that scale plus a battlereport would be pretty epic
Dave, do the 1k sons - it's something different to your 28mm stuff ;) Also I painted the 30k Ahriman way back, relatively shortly after the box came out. I used a 50/50 mix of Vallejo copper and fire red (both the air versions as I used an airbrush to basecoat) - that gives a lovely shiny metallic candy-red - I'd say, try that mixture if you have those two colours at hand!
I was very surprised by how blotchy the look of these were at the end. I'm curious on the white base coats if a thin black wash before putting a thin contrast on would do. I've been doing that with my 15mm metal historical figures recently and am enjoying the finished product. Out of this bunch, the dreadnaughts were phenomenal. But specifically with the infantry, the Night Lords, Death Guard, and Salamanders appear to be the class of the group.
I'd like to use these for a perspective diorama, have normal 40k models up front and a whole bunch of these guys in the background.
That'd be cool, just an endless wave... if you set up a mirror box you could make it look infinite
Space Marines: We Are Legion! ;p
40k sized hq and epic sized chapter behind them
Could work excellently for a parade ground diorama. The command staff up on a balcony closer to the viewer, and below the smaller scale forces on the grounds in the "distance".
@@Hatypusdon’t forget a couple BFG ships doing a flyby even further back. 😉
They used to do that in the (very!) old White Dwarf magazines, after 1st edition Epic was released. Looked very cool!
I think its funny how at this scale everything looks like the paint is put on really thick
Likely because it was as I was painting 3mm pico armor M1 abrams tanks and 2 thin coats of milky paint was to thick and ubsorced detail... So I had to thin my paints even more to get the details to show though.
Look at the models at 1x. These are magnified views.
Things look different under high magnification.

So good!
Redacting any mention of the 2nd and 11th Legions is a gag that will never get old for me, no matter how many times I see somebody do it.
I know, logistically, this wouldnt make sense, but id love to see a game where it starts at Epic scale, but moves into regular scale once it gets to a close quarters battle. Like if they had an objective in a building you see the interior with regular scale models.
Zorpazorp is working on that
The last issue of white dwarf had a mission campaign for full scale HH, this and aeronautica. I think that’s the closest you can get
*_I'd like to see a diorama of 10,000 vs 10,000 EPIC minis._*
i second this
I love how the blast markers are the same scale, so the flamethrower and grenade is big enough to explode or engulf a building.
I'd love to see some legion imperialis here!
Surprised there isn't more excitement for the triumphant return of the whippy sticks
They returned already last year in the AoD box set
Yeah all the excitement for whippy sticks returning has already happened with the HH 2.0 release, so having them in this is less exciting.
Don't worry, I'm always excited for whippy sticks.
There are those of us that still carry the scars of the whippy stick and lament its return!

Honestly, my favourite part about 11 Legion is their [REDACTED]. I also find that their colour scheme is the colour [REDACTED] to be super unique!
IX IX IX, Yes, I need the Inquisition, I've just witnessed some potential heresy
Yea, i always feel that its unfair for them to be lumped in with all the other traitors too. Their lore is so deep and complicated.
I personally prefer the second's colors. they look so vibrant and pull off [REDACTED] so well! Also I find their focus on [REDACTED] to be really suprising. there aren't many Aircraft for space marines
Oh! Finally i got that part about the second legion!
i wondered why they did that! such an eye opener!
I'm caught between Death Guard and a metallic looking Alpha Legion. I do Death Guard in big HH, but I'm considering something different. What do you think?
The metallic alpha legion scheme I showcase in this video was incredibly easy and impactful. Both of them are super easy paint schemes which helps!
Word Bearers looked surprisingly best, definitely wouldn't mind seeing them more. Learning how epic plays out is also interesting
I agree actually, but I think part of that is that the color balance was off in the final reveals. It seemed washed out and too bright. Maybe?
8:15 Collect iron warriors they look cool!!! I have not painted Warhammer but am looking forward to it!
8:40 Ah yes, the Iron Warriors honor their spiritual liege Rogal Dorn by adorning their armor in yellow.

Im so looking forward to the epic scaled gaming board!
But what about the Solar Auxiliary? How big are they? What models did they get?

The bridging is rough on these minis. I don't know if it's even possible to remove at this scale without breaking the model. Kind of a problem.
