      To be honest I don’t know. One year they assessed exactly the same things on both papers. Which was crazy. There hasn’t been crashing yet. The Leslie matrix question was very easy. There wasn’t much challenge in the Finance questions. So I imagine you would be more likely to see these things in Paper 2. I also think they need to make Paper 2 a little harder.

    For Q39-40 (Network Flow), I'd be interested in seeing an attempt at Q40 with the original diagram you had for Q39. Adjusting the flow to conveniently align with Q40 depends on hindsight, which feels somewhat unrealistic (especially in an exam situation). Any thoughts on troubleshooting or alternative approaches here? Ty

    • @MaffsGuru
      @MaffsGuru  10 дней назад +1

      Hi. Thanks for taking the time in making a comment. To be honest I don't have any other way to do Q40 other than using the information from Q39. In previous years, trying to find the maximum flow by making a serious of random cuts seemed stupid and I was forever asking if there was an algorithm. Now I know there is one, I can't think of any other way of doing it other than drawing the network 5 times, making each change and then trying to find the maximum flow. Which seems to be somewhat time consuming.

    Thanks for this great work! With qu 22 , just for the process (as the answer is correct- to add $2.47 to $2611.65) don't you need to add the interest on? If the amount was larger it might have made a difference to your answer. But because it was a tiny amount, the 3.9% interest only added altered it from 2.465 to 2.473 so they both round to 2.47. As it was, both the pre and post interest answers were the same when rounded. But the process should include adding the interest to the final payment as just adding it won't usually work. So you set n=1 and include FV as 0, I as 3.9 and find the Pmt?

    • @MaffsGuru
      @MaffsGuru  Год назад

      I will certainly take a look. I’m fairly sure the approach I used was correct. As the 300th payment still has something left to pay and hence I need to add this to my final payment.

    • @MaffsGuru

      I don’t really agree and all the teachers and students I have checked with agree with my answer to question 33. a cycle is basically a loop but which passes through more than one point. There is not a way to pass through the points and return to one without repeating.

      When you reverse the flow you add a new route for 10 more people. If we look at the paths which go through the new route, we see can can squeeze another 7 people through. As this was more than any other by providing more people it was the correct answer. I hope this helps.

      Some of the questions were a little more challenging. The examiners found new and different ways to ask questions about regular content. For example the correcting for seasonality question and the perpetuity question where you needed to have some idea of algebra. I think many of the other questions were fair. Doesn’t make it any better. Fingers crossed you have a really successful day on Monday.

    What do you reckon is the best way to revise for part 2?

    • @MaffsGuru
      @MaffsGuru  Год назад +3

      Exactly the same way you did for Paper 1. The chances are there will be repeated content. But as there wasn't crashing, I imagine that will be on there. The Leslie Matrix question on Paper 1 wasn't too challenging and there was no matrix algebra. So perhaps make sure you know how to do this. And consolidate anything you feel you didn't get right on Paper 1. Wishing you the very best of luck though.

      @@MaffsGuru I left revision quite late for part 1 as I had to study for PE as well. But I can say your 2022 exam walkthrough helped get around an additional 5 more marks which is huge. I'm gonna do the same for part 2.

    You think I can still get a 50 if I full mark Exam 2?

      I really don’t know to be honest. We can’t tell with this crazy VCE system. Just smash Paper 2 and see what happens.
