Lyrics:
I feel your knife as it goes right in
Cut to my core, but I'm not bleedin'
All that you say tryin' to make me small
Well, the bigger you get, the harder you fall
You use your words as a weapon dear
But your blades don't hurt when you have no fear
You think that you're deep under my skin
You're tryin' to keep me suffering
If you use your words as a weapon
Then as a weapon, I'll shed no tears
You have my heart but I lock it up
This burning flame has been burnt enough
My window's cracked, they can be replaced
But your arm will tire throwing stones my way
You use your words as a weapon dear
But your blades don't hurt when you have no fear
You think that you're deep under my skin
You're tryin' to keep me suffering
If you use your words as a weapon
Then as a weapon, I'll shed no tears
You use your words as a weapon dear
But your blades don't hurt when you have no fear
You think that you're deep under my skin
You're tryin' to keep me suffering
If you use your words as a weapon
Then as a weapon, I'll shed no tears
I'll shed no tears

I think something was lost in translation for some. To me, she is hoping that he is haunted by the pain he caused her with his words. When he is foul to the new girl, her "ghost" appears. I don't think she's supposed to be literally dead. She wants those memories to hurt him as much as they hurt her.
That makes so much more sense, lol
Yes! Rather than simply being a horror story I think it has a deep underlying message reflecting the lyrics of the song
Exactly
amazing comment 👌
This deserves so many more views... Birdy is so talented :)
lhugueny how's the new video going?
Go good Logan
I know, right? i love her music!! it's like so pacific and cute
Amen
Oh she is!!!
This video is so stunningly beautiful and creepy and overall just perfect.
Can't agree with you more~^^
But mostly creepy lol
But mostly creepy lol
The video, the music, the lyrics and its message... It's all wonderful
@@goncalofreitas2094 I'm here from Tiny Boost- words
She would win the horror movie/music award 👏👏
lol shes so good at it haha
+Jenez Chelsea Estraza i know right 🙋
my thought too.that scary girl in the elevator wearing a long white dress
Deeqa. A RIGHT
Deeqa. A yep
Meanwhile, in the UK, there's a girl named Birdy who beautifully portrays a hysterical ghost.
I love Meanwhile jokes..lol
Lol
Luna Lovegood Cool Name!
+Anthony Cain thanks, hope u like harry potter as much as I do, I share a name with a ravenclaw, but I'm a Slytherin!
I was sorted into the Slytherin House as well!
This is about being in a relationship with a narcissistic abuser. They feed off of the emotional reactions of their victims. Once she realizes that her best weapon is not to respond, his need for chaos is starved. and at that point their roles reverse because a narcissist cannot tolerate the lack of the control they have come to depend upon. I love it!
@summerbutterfly7 narcissistic behavior can change. sometimes certain people can turn you narcissistic and some can change your narcissism into something more courteous.
a person becomes narcissistic when nobody else is showing good enough support of them. so the way to tame it is not always to turn off your emotion, the key is supporting them and always being on their side instead of that opposing force that they have become used to.
Brittany.... wow,...hits home
@@thomasgooden That's not entirely true. My grandma is narcissistic and bipolar and she had a lot of love and support growing up. Giving her BS more validation actually makes her worse, and she usually throws support back in our faces.
@@LucyWhiskers oh.
I think this video was about abusive relationships. And Birdy died from her relationship with him. So she came back to haunt him and save his next victim
That makes so much sense. I love your interpretation of this video :)
Taco Magnet well said
great
i know someone who was told by their abusive partner if they tried to leave they'd die. the abuser was terrified of spirits. The way out was to threaten coming back to haunt the eff out of them. The individual got out of the abusive relationship, is free and still alive and thriving. I LOVE this song! and most of her music and lyrics! :)
I think Birdy is the ghost of that house and is just haunting around that problematic couple. Kk
how is this not more popular!??
because there is no nudity and sexual dancing
that is so true sadly :((
Stephen Ha it just isn't. Ok. There's no conspiracy going on here. Marketing. Got tell your friends and so on and so on. It is your responsibility as a fun.
who said said it was a conspiracy, its a brilliant song and i'm surprised it hasn't more views, this isn't the Illuminati here. marketing, you're probably right, but as a FUN i did share on all my social media and bought her album. why so aggressive, who hurt you lanie!!? WHOOO!!
Stephen Ha Ikr
Her looks in this video literally speaks for it and for the song as well. I've known her before she was famous! Proud of you Birdy!
I really like this video and song, not just for the creepy feel, but for the background behind it as well. It talks about a person in an abusive relationship, physically as well as emotionally, and that person helping themselves out of it. As someone who has been in a relationship such as that previously, I feel Birdy takes an excellent voice to it.
Violet Belt And how hard it is to let it go... only one who has been through it knows.
Particularly the emotional abuse, that is the worst.
Birdy taking back control…well as much as she can. Either way she’s a light house for anyone who’s struggling
Yes, run away from the well-lit dining room where you have the company of another person into a darker room upstairs while being chased by an evil entity. So much logic in that.
MEANWHILE Birdy looks like an amazing actress. She looks ready for a movie if I'm honest.
Don't forgot he saw Birdy up there earlier.
Damn idiot he is
Leah Smith exactly! I'd probably have just left straight out the house in broad daylight and ran to my happy place forever
Faith Ike-Elechi ikr! She looks like she's so ready to be on The Conjuring or something xD
***** hahaha yeah, she should audition for something like that :D
oh my god your first name is soo similar to mine.. its like one letter off 😮
Faith Ike-Elechi omg yeah! We should be friends! xD
This will always be one of my favorites from birdy 💜💗🙏👍
her talent carries her fame.
This song is beautiful and the music video quite interesting, but was it a good idea for me to watch it in my dark room before going to bed?
Was it?
* sobs *
i was just about to comment that.
*sobs with u*
Adena Ajike My thoughts exactly!
I am doing that right now and i am scared like a little bitch like birdy can act in some horror movie

I love this version! I wonder why it’s not on Spotify :(
These lyrics are crazy you love the beat and music lyrics are nasty
I think the guy actually killed her and has moved on to someone else to do the same thing, except he wasn't planning on Birdy coming back as a ghost for a little payback :)
She's like a porcelain doll.
Or, maybe his harsh words lead her to kill herself. :(
Wow. NOT what I expected when I saw she had a new video. Incredibly, wonderfully surprised. Below that sweet modest 17 year old exterior lies a very deep persona. Definitely not a bubble gum pop kind'a girl. Can't wait to see her live.
Why isn't this version in Spotify??
I love this song, this song wakes me up every day and makes them better.
really brilliant...birdy is great
Damn... that was really good!
Birdy should really take the lead role in a horror movie. :3 anyway, love her
Yepp that is true ...I love her too

So glad I stumbled across her.
Me too! She's better than Halsey.

+Pastellbunny AJ you shouldn't compare two completely different artists to each other

I cant stop listening this *.*
The beat is kind of an upbeat song but then the actual song isn't- it is so contrary-I love it!
Crystal Walsh What other version?
I'd like to dedicate this song to John Green
I'd like to do that too
Good that
*applause*
Certainly !
YASSSSSSSS
can relate to this song 100%. The ghost in the video is actually a pretty good metaphor if that's how it was intended. Love this video
I think its not a ghost... I think its a memory, or a vision, only he can see her
As her before big break fans. We cam say we knew her before she was soo famous!
Wow, it's like this is a whole new and different song ! The album edition was nice and a little nostalgic, this one is strong and creepy, but they're both really good. They just don't make you feel the same things, and I find it quite interesting to explore a same song with different views.
I’ve always liked this version better 😭😭😭
@@laurenskee88 me too. I wish it was on Spotify.
All I've ever been is surrounded by toxic people from family to friends and it's taken me until now, at 21 years old, to realise I can set boundaries or cut people off because I deserve better. Never let abusive people keep you feeling small and manipulating you.
Me too
This kinda reminds me of a "friendship" with one of my friends...
Not the love part but, I mean, her words are like weapons. I don't think she means it, but damn I feel the end of the knife.
Same problem here :/
MrsKJT WoodMalek That's a toxic friend, though...
at least you don't feel the middle of the knife, Lol.
no, but, in all seriousness, you should probably distance yourself from the relationship.
I had those too 😔

me encanto Birdy como fantasma ♥
Best Birdy song to date.
2024 we still playing this 🔥💪🏾
PERFECT!!!! OMG! I love this vídeo.
Birdy's videos are like dark and i really love that and 'Words As Weapons' is one of my favorites!
Kate Christy what´s the metaphor? thanks. I also love the song and vid.
All her songs are really nostalgic but i have to say that this one is really different. I like that very much. Birdy please, don't change u'r style.
Big love, from Georgia(Not USA) :) !!
Watch out! The Winchesters are going to be there soon!
Baam!! OMG THIS IS STUNNING! Such amazing lyrics and the video is just awesome!!! Damn I got Goosebumps...
Already 2 years.. She's the most beautiful woman on the earth. Her voice is so perfect, it makes me crazy. I love her more than everything!
a dark Birdy. I loved it. She´s growing up fast.
I love seeing this side of birdy..she kind of has a gentle presence on stage and in her videos .. :)
That was.........
*ahem*
Birdy's the next Grudge/Ring Girl
LOL
I thought of the exact same thing!!!!
Birdy should be in a film and she should sing in it, she is my favourite singer in the whole wide world
i wish she could have a solo tour in the US...
Not enough people know her here yet. Her spring tour with Christina Perri will get her more recognition. Bet on it. I'll be seeing her on April 25. Can't wait.
This video actually gave an extra meaning to the song and I loved it, even though it´s a bit creepy it gives off a very strong message
Best music video/song ive ever heard and real haunting too
This version is so much better than the album version
Gonna check that out
You're right
this is the US version🤣
I think it changes the whole tone of the song, this arrangement is angry, with the victim fighting back, the album version is much more sad, I wasn't sure if the words were meant to be taken at face value or to be meant ironically, something the singer wished for, rather than actually had. This version removes the ambiguity.
Chills. That was 100% amazing!
I Love her Style on the Videos
Her voice is soulful opera ..Very talented .......I hope she always maintains her looks simply beautiful (less make- up the better)
She has such a haunting beauty. She would make a good witch in a movie.
britain has such a fine taste of music, you should be proud. instead of singing with their breast hanging out singing about how the paps destroy them, you guys sing with a message.
I must agree. Birdy, Adele, Ed, London Grammar, little Jasmine Thompson, etc. Maybe something in the water? The tea? I don't know. All I can say is thank God for youtube.
Looks scary but really emotional too
One comes with the other.
I've always liked Birdy's hair. She's lovely. 😍😊
Its 2 AM and I can't sleep so I decided to go on RUclips and listen to music. I'm now going through most of Birdy's songs because I love Skinny Love, Not About Angels, Best Shot and Tee Shirt I now have more songs of hers I love
She's crazy good:)
Yes Anthony Nieves she's amazing!
Love love loved this! I especially loved the beginning when she's stomping in time to the beat like she's the one creating it. I don't know why I love it so much, but I can almost picture the song eerily drifting throughout the house. LOVE IT!
Why am I sad and scared at the same time

@@Deryasvoice Marcus Garvey was wrong. RazorBladeKandy was white. Chinweizu synthesized both their ideas but it was Rollo Tomassi who perfected them. His text The Rational Male currently has far more appeal than the myriad of black nationalist literature already in circulation. It so happens that he published it the same year Tommy Curry challenged the fantasy of male privilege, referring to being a black male as a death sentence .
His The Man Not however was not the first text to address the shortcomings of fem-centric pan-africanism. Nor was his recent 'Decolonising the Intersection' despite highlighting his attempts to emphasise the role of misandry in black female thinking. Chinweizu (Anamtomy of female power) and Shahrazad Ali (The Black Mans Guide) also made similar efforts but it was George Subira (1992) who hit the mark .
Unlike Chinweizu, Subira did not draw upon Esther Vilar's 1976 classic, The Manipulated Man. Unlike most disciplined minds, Subira was an original thinker and one of the first to advocate a programme of economic leadership. Most modern black rhetoricians can offer no such programme or agenda because they are largely victims of black female programming. Their minds were long domesticated meaning they are reduced to reproducing aimless echo chambers almost every time they talk.
Neely Fuller (1957) was not hostage to such conditioning but his programme seems to have a key fault. Despite realising the incredible driving motivating force of sexual expression , he still managed to downplay it's role, especially how it compares to the larger logic of antiblackness and global white terror domination. Although Charles Mills (1997) did indirectly develop his ideas, he neglected to integrate the foundation his own work borrowed from, "The Sexual Contract." (1996)
Neil Postman, like Jeff Schmidtt, was one of the few people capable of making sense of these divergent ideas (much like John Gatto and Jan Matthews were two of those rare individuals with the pieces of the puzzle.) Conventional panafrikanism doesn't even realise there is a jigsaw to be solved. It has a distorted conception of itself because it views the world through a damaged lens incapable of accountability and self-reflection.
PanAfrikanism will not produce any quick results either because unlike Chinweizu, Subira and Curry, it still refuses the interrogate and recognise the role of women in sabotaging the afrikan agenda. Texts like Addicted to White work towards this, only, in this age of intersectional confusion and fragmented voices in the wind, it isn't necessary to silence this perspective; it is enough just to drown it out. Jacques Ellul and Guy Debord surely foresaw this tragic arrangement, when few others could.
Men have been fooled, black and white. It is no longer a question of race-first but male first, if not black-male first at the very least. Men are going to have to muster the clarity and courage to challenge the corporate-feminine regime dominating their "emptied" lives. If anything is to be redeemed black thinkers will need to prioritise the black pill and realise that the fundamental question of what it means to be a woman is as urgent as the need to ask what it means to be white.

Addendum:
1. Attention to a woman is like a blowjob to a man
2. When a man's contempt for women surpasses his lust for them, only then shall he become wise
3. Women think all men are the same - that is their strength. Men think all women are different - that is their weakness
4. A man's facade of strength is his biggest weakness; a woman's facade of weakness is her biggest strength
5. Men fake interest, women fake orgasms
A. Women are not to be loved; they are to be handled
B. Women are not complicated; they are complicating
C. A man must value his time the same way women put premiums on their body
D. Men struggle for physical dominance but women opt for social domination
E. Men compete; women conspire

Stay strong, you are enough, there is always light and hope. You're born perfect and you deserve all the true love and kindness in the world.
Yes, you. ❤️

This is a beautiful song, meanwhile, if you're in a situation where someone tries to hurt you with their words, please don't be silent about it trying to pretend you aren't hurt. I've been there, and when I remained silent, "shedding no tears", it didn't work as a weapon and they didn't stop with the hurtful remarks. Of course everyone's situation is different - I'm talking about a situation with verbal bullying. Please speak up. Talk to someone mature and trustworthy about this. Please don't suffer in silence - do everything you can to change the situation when you are repeatedly hurt verbally - if it doesn't stop after you've tried talking and defending yourself in any (non-harmful) way, do change the environment and don't stay with people who hurt you. Please don't think that your ignoring them has power. It may to some extent but it can also hurt you (Like it's hurt me, years ago). No one should suffer silently from words used as weapons - You deserve better. You will have normal, considerate, respectful and kind people around you, friends, people who respect and love you, I promise you. Stay strong and don't stay silent about this bad situation. Change your life to better, your life can and will be filled with kindness and joy. Love you.
