I wondered what the Chinese “disaster” had been BC it’s usually foregone conclusion (weirdly like Simone Biles but oh dear look what’s happened in her case). But it was SO CLOSE, and the judging is so subjective (former diver here). They did earn it.... Really happy for them ... and the Chinese synchro team seen on NBC seemed to know it was close on that last dive... and accepted their “loss” (silver feels like a “loss” to so many perfectionists). Eg Greg Loygabis’s first silver felt like a loss to him!
I feel like I'm connected to Team GB because I've followed Tom for so long and know all of the divers. Jack, for sure even watch his on lines, Daniel, always great to see him, and of course Matty, he's Family now. Good luck tomorrow guys.

There is NOTHING sexual or intimate about one man waxing another. Especially for veterans like @tomdaley and @mattydiver. They spend 90% of their time together in speedos when they are practicing for any competition, in locker rooms and showers... and this has been going on for years! And trust me, the long hairs that grow between competitions ( and waxings) are no treat to have removed. That is why Tom underwent laser hair removal, so he didn’t have to go through this all the time. There are still places he has to shave down ( legs, arms, etc) that were not lasered. He understands the pain involved in the waxing, and Matty knows how painful it’s going to be... so nothing intimate Or sexual about it. Period! It is quite painful! (Former diver here!)
Such a funny and friendly chemistry between them, Tom is having so much fun and the other guy is clearly a bit outside his comfort tone but finds the whole thing hilarious. Cool!
that fear/excitement thing is how i passed my driver’s license exam first try 😄 I just kept telling myself internally that I’m as prepared as I can be, confident in my skills and that I’m excited to show it to the examiner and it worked!! my legs didn’t even shake that much 😄😄😄
Talcum powder... A light dusting of talcum powder (or even just starch) prevents the wax from sticking to the skin. Hurts far less and the hair will come off just as easily.
