Largo, yes, Largo, don't be so hard on your mom! Let her have her moment or moments. It's vulnerable, it's memorable, it's special, it's monumental! This is been a long-ass journey and this is her home state. Okay, rant over. Love you sunshine, love you captain, Nan

Welcome to Maine, yeahhh. Congratulations to both 👏👏👏. You have done an amazing job raising such an amazing, smart, confident, young man. How many 16 yo have traveled the world with his family and want to spend that much time with any parent. It's so awesome. You're so lucky. The fun, bond, and respect you have for each other shows. Can't wait for the last state and Katahdin. We'll done 👏👏👏

Sunshine, I totally get the emotion regarding coming into Maine. I live in Portland, and when I come home via the Portland jetport, I love that as you exit the plane there is a sign on the jetway that says "Welcome Home". Someone should put that on the AT 🙂. We have a magical state, and you are in some of the most beautiful parts of it. Love watching you and Captain on the AT

Have been following you all since you were rving in Europe! Was so excited when I found out you were hiking the AT! Already followed AT hikers but you have been my favorite AT hikers of all time! Have enjoyed every minute of watching you two!

I know what that's like after a looooooong hike in my own inside, and it's great to see the great positive changes in you guys.

Incredible footage from your first day in Maine!! It was a doozy, wasn’t it!! You both did awesome!!! I totally get how emotional you got when you got to Maine. It was very sweet to see! It isn’t even my home state but I got very emotional at that sign too, and pretty much throughout the rest of our hike! It’s an intense time both physically and emotionally! You guys are doing great and I thank you for bringing me along all these months! Hope Will’s recovery is going well!

Was surprised to hear how far the plane crash is off the trail. Other channels showed it and made it seem like it was off in the woods literally right off the trail…
Omg that was scary watching you go up the ladder! I am afraid of heights so it made my knees weak just watching!!! I haven’t seen anyone else show that yet on the hikers I’ve watched.

Haven’t lived there in many years, but I feel the same way about Connecticut. Born and raised there. When I was a kid and we would travel by car out of state, when we would cross the border back into CT, we would all take a deep breath and say, “Ahhhhhhh! Back home!”😊

Congratulations on making it to Maine! If you went through the Mahoosuc Notch which it sounds like you did, the average I’ve seen going through it is 2.5 hrs and it’s less than a mile I believe, so you probably made good time for that section…you two are amazing and I’m excited to see you finish, I will be bawling with you Sunshine 😂

That descent and that loose tree are reason number one to bring a hiking staff insteadof poles, especially if you pack them up on your backpack.
A hiking staff is a small tree that you can always rely on.

Good work getting through Mahoosuc Notch. That’s a big one, as you know. BTW, bears don’t hibernate, and they don’t den up until late fall or winter. So don’t worry about falling into a a bears den…yet.

I can certainly understand the emotion of crossing into Maine for you, Sunshine. My question is for Captain. Seeing the emotion of your mother on coming home, where would you classify as coming home? Is there any one place that you would identify as home or would it perhaps be wherever your mother and father are? I hope you understand the question and don’t think I am questioning your parents’ life choices! I really enjoy your vlogs and have looked back at them all the way to Costa Rico.

Isn't it funny you praised the
weather and on this date October 7th Helene hurricane went through and caused 1/3 of the AT to be destroyed. That makes this set of videos to be quite precious and your experiences to be preserved as the before Helene state of affairs. 280 people died R.I.P. oh my goodness day 154. Well done. Miki Goldie

Sorry..it is one of my big disappointments with all the vlogs we shot that we did not do it justice …but it was a safety issue and we had to make a choice. It was one of my top 3 scariest moments on trail because we hiked the end of it in the dark.
