      Ive got my second attempt a week today, im very nervous still but know a bit more about what to expect. I failed for a stupid reason, so was quite pleased with the test as a whole, including my parallel park. fingers crossed for next time, really hoping to be driving in time for christmas. These videos are really helpful.

    I think you went easy on her. The amount of time not using push and push especially coming out of a turn and you only booked her once. Nice videos & Glad she passed though.

    After watching few videos it's either the driver tries to communicate with the instructor or opposite but no one actually replies… I would try to find a friendly instructor, not to bribe or get anything good out of him/her, as long as we keep good terms, always makes things better to feel if you are enjoying yourself

    Great driving Nikita, don't worry about the 3rd gear set off, just remember to fully secure up and set off from scratch even if the examiner does sound like they are in a rush to get going again, So you don't forget about 1st. Have fun learning :)

    It's funny that she was going left when you said to go right several times. Not trying to say she's stupid, but it's funny how as a learner your mind is on different things and simple things can elude you.
    This happens to me a lot. My mind is often on just driving properly and safely and not on reading directions.

Because it's like a journey which is pretty cool cauz at the end of the day you gonna be more confident on driving on your own but if at the real test you gonna drive for so long that's very cool and you're also a very good instructor she is very lucky !!

    Hi James,
    I went for my 4th driving test today and I'm please to reveal that I've finally passed with 4 minors so I'm happy :) 1 minor for undue hesitation, 1 minor steering and 2 minors for turning right.
    The steering minor I've got was for clipping the curb whilst driving but I thought that would be a serious. So is touching the curb whilst driving is a minor?
    The 2 minors I've got for turning right but the examiner explain what have I done wrong or what I've should've done? Could you please why the examiner gave me 2 minors for making a right turn?

    Did my first lesson today I live one a farm so Iv got the clutch and changing gears in the bag and at the end of the test he said I think this is the first time Iv not had the yank the steering wheel so people don't scratch his wheels and I was on a 50 MPH road and I was just under that and the elderly woman was so much up my arse and I had the pull in to my drive way because it was the end of my first lesson and I had to stop from 50 on a busy road then wait for traffic to pass so I can pull in the drive and she was just inching closer and closer why can't people think ill give a bit of room more then normal I gave her a good worming I'm stoping signalling for a good 20 seconds because it's on a corner and just wasn't backing of one bit got home safety tho through the drama 😂

    what means mock test?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  7 лет назад +1

      Mitreto Korea hi, mock test is a practice driving test. It is the next best thing to the driving test. Covers a test route, and helps you to understand what happens and how you would react to the practical driving test.

    • @mitretokorea609
      @mitretokorea609 7 лет назад +1

      Ah so that means, in bulgaria has the same but its not really neccesary and u can skip it and ur instructor will only mark as passed and thats all :). In bulgaria is calles Internal test :). btw i passed 2 days ago now im going to give my documents to get my license

    I don't understand how this would have passed. I've got my test on Friday and there's no way I'd pass doing this. Indicating 3 driveways before a mini roundabout, letting the steering wheel slide through the hands, stalling, not releasing handbrake immediately after checking blind spot when pulling off, driving really slow, getting left and right mixed up, and I'm only 6 minutes in to the video!

    Hi James, I've been learning to drive for a while now and I've noticed that sometimes I don't realise /realise a little late there is an open junction (only certain junctions when there's no road markings to tell me, and these junctions are a bit funny and slanted), it's weird because it never used to happen before and it's happened on 2 occasions randomly, and I drive to test standard. I wanted to ask if this comes with more experience?
    Ps thank you for these great videos and well done to Nikita for passing her test

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  7 лет назад +1

      +Natasha Ali hi, thanks for watching. These junctions could be Y junctions which you approach at a sharper angle compared to T junctions. Over time and with more experience it gets easier. But if a was you I would ask my instructor to take you to more Y junctions. Y junction is much harder to approach correctly. If there are no road markings it could be either a quiet road or they have worn out or the signs are missing, but if you miss them or make the same mistake ask could you go back and approach it again. Safe driving

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  7 лет назад +1

      Ask your instructor a direct question. Can you tell me how many more hours I need to take my test?
      If your instructor says 10 to 15 hours, then you work out at that point when the test date should be booked for based off the number of hours her week you are having. If they say I don't know. Then you would need to be asking why they have no idea after you have had 50 hours which is the average.
      If they are saying you are not ready. Ask what do I need to do to get ready?
      Most instructors will have a record card of there pupil and some even give out record cards to there pupils. You can see on the record card what is to a good standard and what needs more improvement. If you are still not satisfied then you might have to consider asking a good friend to recommend another instructor and ask them to give you an assessment of your driving with an aim to preparing your your driving test. If the other instructor is saying the same as your current one. Then more hours is needed, but at least you know where you stand. Good luck.

      Gear I mean

    • @J10Wilshere
      @J10Wilshere 7 лет назад

      tiffany boland you are probably going too fast round the corner for first gear which is causing the car to jerk. If you have an open view of the corner you are turning into and can see the road is clear you can go round in second gear with the suitable speed that matches the gear. My advice would just be to take your time, if you have any concerns just slow down, think and make the most of making the correct decision in your own time. Much safer than just changing it and it results in a serious fault

      Learn-to-drive Travis What about the failure to check left blind spot after setting off from emergency stop? I passed my test first time a few weeks ago and in the hour lesson beforehand I didn't check my left blind spot and my instructor said it would be an immediate fail. Made sure to on my test!

    • @Reecey1999
      @Reecey1999 7 лет назад +1

      Learn-to-drive Travis Also, you said 3 faults for going slow so surely 3 in that category causes a dangerous or serious so that's also a fail?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  7 лет назад

      Hi, you can find that some examiners will allow 4 driver faults in the same section before it becomes a serious.

    • @JamesTravis

      Hi, yes the left blindspot could of been checked, but she done sufficient checks at that time.

      matthew parkhurst your instructor is correct. The more you let the wheel spin, the less control.

    Hi James just a question, one of the lads of the site I work on passed his test 2 years ago but unfortunately due to things happening to him he never got a car or drove , he's looking at buying a car now 2 years after would you recommend he takes some driving lessons to get use to to it or just drive somewhere on his own and get into the swing of things again ?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  8 лет назад +2

      Matt Harris your friend will probably be rusty, so I would recommend contacting a driving driving instructor for a one hour lesson to take him out and remind your friend anything that he has forgotten. It will cost him max £25 for the refresher lesson and it could save him from having a bump in the first week in his car.

      Learn-to-drive Travis it is ridiculous that someone can pass a test 10 years ago and not have driven with in that time but are deemed safe drivers to go behind the wheel. Non active drivers should be asked to retake test after two years or more of inactivity

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  6 лет назад

      Most drivers who pass and don’t continue with there driving until a couple of years tend to have some sort of refresher lesson with family or an instructor to remind them of the safety and how to control car.

    whats a mock driving test?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  8 лет назад

      brb224 a mock test is a practice driving test covering a test route conducted by the driving instructor. It is the next best thing to an actual driving test. It will help prepare the pupil for the driving test.

    • @brb224
      @brb224 8 лет назад

      is it given to you by the dmv?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  8 лет назад

      No. most driving instructors are happy to give a mock test to there pupils.

    before moving off when starting car is it not necessary to signal?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  7 лет назад +2

      +Hanna hussain hi, start car, get yourself ready with your 1st gear and gas, then check round. At that point you signal to move off, if no one is coming towards you, then you don't need to signal. Hope that helps

    • @emmaali8165

      if u did this out of habit and on the test there were no cars or pedestrians would u get marked down.. as I think it's best to get into the habit of doing it so that u never 4 get ad just in case u on a test u don't signal b4 moving off is this a fail. . thanks great videos really helping me.. xx

    • @unrealeck
      @unrealeck 6 лет назад +1

      I don't think it's mandatory if no one is around, but there's no harm done in just signalling anyway.

    She would have failed this mock for the emergency stop she carried out. She didn't check her left blind spot which is an immediate fail

    • @RabbiShekelGrabbersixgorrilion
      @RabbiShekelGrabbersixgorrilion 7 лет назад

      Reece Tyler you don't need to use mirrors when you are emergency stopping

    • @Reecey1999
      @Reecey1999 7 лет назад +1

      Swiftkin you have to check both blind spots before you set off again. If not it's a fail. I forgot to in my practice before my test and he said I'd fail and when it came up I made sure to do it and I passed first time.

    • @RabbiShekelGrabbersixgorrilion
      @RabbiShekelGrabbersixgorrilion 7 лет назад

      I said when you are doing the emergency stop I was litterally replying to you, afterwards you check not during. You didn't understand what I meant.

    • @Reecey1999
      @Reecey1999 7 лет назад

      Swiftkin and You don't understand what I said, which says "before setting off again".Obviously you don't do it before the stop then as then it won't be an 'emergency' stop

      @RabbiShekelGrabbersixgorrilion 7 лет назад

      Reece Tyler plus it's not imediate fail, it would have to be dangerous to do so in or to fail, you would get a minor
