I am not fully home, but I am on the path back. Everyday is a struggle. There are good days and bad days. I pray for endurance and faith. I came really close to joining the eastern orthodox church, but people like u have helped me see the papacy in the Old Testament, I have grown so much, spiritual speaking, and I have the confidence that I could prove to a protestant who will listen, that Catholicism is true from only using the 66 book protestant Canon, because that's how I found the Catholic church, I did not read Maccabees, or the Book of Tobit etc etc, i only used the protestant bible, & i was an anti-catholic 💯 so if i could see all the Catholic dogmas using the 66 book Bible, then any Protestant can see Apostolic succession using only those 66 books. After years of wandering, dissatisfied and angered at the lack of reverence in which Holy Mass is celebrated in so many Catholic Churches, the Lord finally led me to the St. Vincent Ferrer Church (in NYC) which is run by the Dominicans. There, every Holy Mass, celebrated by one or more of the many Dominicans Friars, is offered with the utmost reverence, as if it is the first, the last, and the only Holy Mass the priest is celebrating. Each Homily is delivered so that one's heart opens up to the Truth. To know that this exceptional young man is discerning with the Order of Preachers moves me to tears. Our Lord is so good that He calls such great men like Suan Sonna to be formed as a Priest of Jesus Christ. This proto homily already points to the many preachings of veritas to come. God bless you, Suan Sonna. Thank you for responding to Our Lord's call.

The Dominican dog goes back to a vision St. Dominic’s mother supposedly had before she had him. Struggling with infertility, she was making a pilgrimage to the Abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos in Spain when she dreamed that a dog jumped from her womb holding a torch and set everything around them on fire. Soon after, she conceived a son with her husband and named him after the 11th century St. Dominic of Silos, for whom the abbey she had visited had been named. The dream was prescient due to a play on words in Latin: although Dominic called his order the Order of Preachers, it would later come to be known as the Dominicans; in Latin, that’s Dominicanus, which is very similar to domini canis, or “dog/hound of the Lord.” Given the order’s charism for zealous preaching of the Gospel, the story and the play on words seemed fitting! So, to this day, the Dominicans are nicknamed the “hounds of the Lord.”

I'm currently going through the process leading towards formation, and it is a steep and rocky road, filled with doubts, joy, sadness, fears, love. It's really a rollercoaster so far. I've been excommunicated from my previous protestant church, which was very anti-Catholic (as was I). I contemplate very often about if what I'm doing is the right thing, and thinking everything over again, all the arguments, all the articles of faith. But in the end the conclusion is always the same, I can't go back. I LOVE the Catholic church, I love Mary (even though I still have a lot to go through concerning devotions and stuff, it'll take time), I absolutely love the Communion of saints; I mean, I used to be so in love with Christ and seeing Him really filled me with joy, and now I have the same joy, but now I know that we have such a large Catholic family who are praying for us in heaven, interested in our lives, supporting our battle. Even though you are going to the Dominicans, I think you would find the Franciscan Thesis of the Primacy of Christ (The 2nd person of the Trinity's predestination to become Incarnate from all of Eternity) to be salient. Would be nice to have more conservative priests, both theologically and politically! Hope you make it through the gauntlet of your superiors. I assume the Dominican Order is more faithful and politically tolerant than the Jesuits but frankly don't hear much about them.

Because being in formation as a Dominican Priest will take up all his time and that is where the Lord is calling him to be. If he emerges at the other end as an ordained Dominican he will be a power house as the Dominicans are the Order of Preachers at their order is 800 years old! They have years of spiritual formation and study of philosophy and theology.
