how did the corn cover crop mix terminate with the roller? specifically the vetch. im in southern IN and had my first bout with vetch a couple weeks ago
It’s not the size (of the bushels) that matters. I’ve got very short season OP varieties that will barely hit 100, but their 11-12% protein brings one hell of a premium from my hog and chicken farmers because they don’t have to mix in any soymeal.
Oh, I forgot, mostly a Yetter guy, but sometimes what works one year, ceases to work the next. As of right now, I’m mix and match because I had to replace a few and keep extras, but didn’t have any extra Yetters. I’ve purchased a bunch of non organic cover crop seed. Plus some good Becks corn hybrids. Just have to justify it. Had really bad luck with 1197, but I planted it with the 1790 on 15’s and I poured it on real heavy, 44k. I’ve been told that is where I dropped the ball.
Yeah I agree with you on this one. Usually our spaders work well, just having a few issues this year here and there. It’s a game we are playing. We are planting some becks this year as well. We have had good luck in the past with 1197 at 40k pop. So we will see what happens this year.
You guys have beautiful fields wow !!!!!👍🏼😊🍃
Just found your channel dude. Watching from New Zealand.

Very cool way of farming!
That pollen fogging off the crimper is probably enough to make folks sneeze just watching the video. Looks pretty though.

Schaffert zippers put on backwards so the points are angled in instead of outward don't wrap

@@farmingwithcarp8551 I saw your covers in the video, I predict your going to have a great corn year.
@@LtColDaddy71 Thank you very much.
I think 1197 is the hybrid that dave hula used to set record 600+ bu acre, should do 300 if weather is right
Hello again! I just got our new roller crimper. What speed do you guys usually run at?
Usually around 6.4-6.8 is what we usually run it at, any faster and the whole bar will start bouncing.
