I am always thrilled by the passion and eloquence of Philip Mould’s introductions of fine art pieces. He has a depth of emotion and understanding that is unparalleled and the best thing of all is that HE is thrilled by these works of art as well!
Thank you for the evocative description. To me, the light source is her inner light and Raeburn captures it beautifully. Best to you and your family, and of course Cedric
I remember seeing a portrait by Raeburn quite similar to this in the National Gallery in Edinburgh earlier this year. The touch and technique was absolutely masterful. There were some good portrait painters around at that period but he remains my favourite.
Phillip, what an absolutly superb picture which you have summed up to perfection. I honestly did not know the artist, but I'm surely going to look into his amazing skill and paintings. Thank you!
Fine Art at its Finest!! A brilliant example of how an Artist with Soul can transcend the 'commonplace" through a painting - absolutely stunning. Thank you for your heartfelt presentation sir!
As a painter I am in awe of Raeburn, his focal singularity, emotional lighting, clean colour palette and brushwork is extremely difficult to replicate. You may master one of these elements, but to snare them all, well theres the rub.
Comparing his work to that of his Scottish contemporaries, one can see how fortunate Raeburn was to have walked a somewhat untraditional educational path to his set of skills.

Philip, the way you described this painting was also art itself. I admire how passionately you point out details in paintings. You are my favorite.
What a treat.~ Ta.

I think this may be the most beautiful portrait I've ever seen.

The Velazquez of the North.

It's really haunting. Beautiful.
Thankyou for that exquisite 🩵
Very nice 👌 😊thanks 😊
Yes, it is an exquisite painting! To me it looks as if she has been crying because she doesn't want to marry her parents choice.
"Mr Raeburn please paint me miserable about my parents forcing me to marry the disgusting Mr Barber."
This is a beautiful portrait of a lovely young woman. It perfectly captures the essence of the Regency Period in my opinion.
