Great advice! I’ve been playing for a long time. I do smile and act like I’m having a good time when I’m playing with my band. I think I should move my body more. Also, we need to work on dynamics. I’m glad you brought that up. Thank you!
I remember my first performance at church, it was a shock, the minister called me to sing with him, I was very young. Good times, the beginning of my walk with the Lord, your video brought me beautiful memories. Playing and dancing at the same time comes very naturally to me, but singing is a big challenge for me.
@@Patrick_1rI probably did at first! I still do sometimes depending on how comfortable I am with the song😂 Now I’ve gotten more comfortable with playing and singing after years of practice and just doing it, but I still have to think about it sometimes.
Great advice Emma. I'm in a community folk band (about 10 of us) and we have a Christmas concert coming up soon. Problem we have is most people stare at the sheet music like there life depends on it. Would it make a difference if even a couple of look up and use your advice.
Such great advice I liked how you covered real emotion behind the music and engaging with the audience. Making them feel such a great perspective

That’s awesome! I still have to think about adding all of these things in my playing as well!
Thanks Emma this all really helpful since playing in front of people can be nerve racking!!
Definitely!
fav ? ....dynamics 👍 most important

Singing and playing was a challenge for me as well!
@ oh Nice.
Do you sing looking at the chords for fear of making mistakes too? I couldn't sing without taking my eyes off my hands hahaha

Oh that sounds so fun! I definitely think so! Even if you glance up from the music a couple times during a song, it can make a big difference!
