Strangford is my favourite place to paddle, we also camp on some of the islands. The Gobbins is also great when viewed from the water, lots of caves with the seabirds.
I was paddling on Strangford recently, and I was so impressed by it. Really sheltered and safe for novices up in the north, with lots of islands to explore. The excitement of the tidal races and Routen Wheel in the narrows, then the overfalls where the tides of the lough and the North Channel meet (for serious mayhem!) Almost everything a sea paddler needs in one package.
Another great one Ken and very interesting watching how easy it was (sort off) to get them mussels. So funny you walking Goblin pass as I was only looking at that a couple of days ago and thinking that would be fun to walk.
What a beautiful place! I remember foraging for mussels on the Welsh coast fifty years ago on a scorching summer's day. I definitely ate too many of them. I also remember the smell of the seaweed, which was challenging - probably due to the hot weather.
dont use the launch in killyleagh, right beside a sewer outlet with high mercury levels also recorded, go up into delamont, bit cleaner, if your concerned by unrestricted waste water being pumped into our water ways and seas please contact your local mp/mla and raise your concerns, failure to invest should not be an excuse to pollute
Wow! We are going to Comber town beside Strangford Lough on Monday. It is too cold for us to kayak… birrr! As soon as the weather warms up a bit… 🚣♂️ Thank you for another great video!
Hey Ken, beautiful spot! You are very fortunate to be able to do these type of trips. I know you have put a lot of work into being able to do these trips and reviews. Thank you for that. One more thing, now that you have spent sometime in your Pakayak have you had any problems with it.
I am indeed very fortunate!!! I’ve only had one big problem with the Pakayak… I haven’t been able to paddle with it enough! :). Seriously though - no issues at all so far.
On a cliffy coastline it's hard to see a paddler from more than a few hundred metres away, particularly if there's a swell (there always is in Donegal), so the chances of randomly meeting other paddlers on such a big coastline is small.
@@mairnealachamu WHAT ???? Lol lol I don't be kayaking over cliffs or be out when the swell is so high kayakers can't be seen . It's a well know fact Donegal is the most incredible place to kayak and there's a real lack of people on the water . Clearly it's somewhere you don't spend
Ken! I love all your videos. Awesome content and you inspire me to go kayaking more! I was curious if you could do a review of the LIQUIDLOGICS STINGER XP kayak? It seems like a really awesome "crossover" kayak. If you could do a review of it, I would really appreciate your insight. Thank you!
Thank you! I would love to review the Stinger, but that might not happen until next season. But, I will be reviewing the liquidlogic remix XP10 this spring/summer!
I’d be interested to hear your take on the Pakayak compared to the Trak 2.0. It’s almost a 2x price difference, but it’s not obvious if the weight and performance is worth it.
Hi Ken great video. I am interested in buying a pakayak but read somewhere that they are more difficult to re enter in a self rescue situation. Can you shed any light on this at all ? Thanks
Unfortunately (but fortunately for me) I haven't tested re-enteries with the Pakayak. It might be a little more difficult because it has a higher deck than some sea kayaks, but I'd be surprised if there was a big difference. I really don't know though. It is a little tougher to roll because of the higher stern deck, but still very rollable.
On my trip to do list, my ancestors Tuatha De Danann Clanna Dedad, awesome beautiful vlogging paddling and scenery, truly magnificent, all the very best wishes.

This is an absolutely beautiful area. So glad you enjoyed your adventures here. The mussels from Strangford are the best I've ever had!❤

Oooo. Camping in Strangford would be awesome!
Strangford is special, calm island hopping and a named whirlpool, glad you enjoyed it.
Well I learned something.
Cheers David. I would love to get over there one day, perhaps in a couple of year I may come and say Hi.
Yup! I didn’t hear about the whirlpool though!

Yup! So much diversity in such a small area!

Thanks! Yeah, Gobbins is a really cool spot!
It's also a lovely paddle. From Portmuck to Whitehead.

Glad you enjoyed Strangford Lough! I live just 5 minutes away from Whiterock where you were paddling!
Nice backyard!!
Awesome video You know spring is upon us when your videos are up again
:) I’m pretty happy that the ice is melting! Can’t wait to get on the water here in Ontario.

Have a great one - and thank you!
Fantastic to have met you Ken
You too Jay!!
Nice adventure 👍
That walking trail was something else.
I imagine there used to be some sketchy bits...
maybe there still are 😳
Nothing sketchy anymore, although it’s a steep walk back after you’re done.

Wonderful ❤️
Welcome to Ireland Ken. A country that’s absolutely full of paddlers
:). Can’t wait to return!
Yeah where are they ? Lol I paddle year in Donegal and to see others on sea is something we hardly ever if ever see

@shaneshankly4518 that's why you're not seeing other kayakers then. You're not on the water while they're out having fun!

@@PaddleTV Sounds good! I'll be on the look out for both of them!

Great question, and a comparison video is definitely in order. Stay tuned!
This was an amazing video! I was wondering how durable the Pakayak? Does it get scratched easily and if so, should you worry about that?
Thanks! The plastic of a Pakayak is as durable as any other plastic kayak. Very durable. They do get scratches, but they're only superficial.

Don't know much about kayak.... but I purchased a Necky dolphin kayak and a Ascend D10. I only paid $200 for both was that a good deal.
It's a good deal if you enjoy paddling them. If you don't enjoy paddling them, it doesn't matter how cheap they were. :)

Have you checked your pakayak on an airplane? I'm headed overseas later this year and want my kayak along.
Many times! It’s no problem to fly with, although since it’s a little over 50lbs you usually get charged for an overweight bag.
That is great news. Thank you.
