- In todays video we obtain the platinum trophy for prototype on the PS4. 14 years after playing since release. Definitely one of the harder platinum trophies I have gone for since trophy hunting but one that I am so glad to have in my collection

53,596 comes from that fact that in the film Dawn of the Dead the population of the town featured is 53,594. Dead Rising put that number in their game and all future developers would increase the number to one-up whoever came before.
Yeah, the idea was that if you killed that many zombies in one playthrough of Dead Rising, you'd have killed the whole population of Willamette, Colorado, where the game took place.
Left 4 Dead then decided to one-up them by making it 53,595 and then Prototype made a trophy for "that many zombies AND one more" to make it 53,596
Pretty much a legacy easter egg in trophy form.

Every boss on hard mode in this game is a huge pain in the ass ESPECIALLY the Elizabeth Green boss

i have a cheese start for anyone who is interested and will post in a sepret comment as well. use shield and fully upgraded whipfist, and find the building with lots of ledges for you to stand on that will keep you in rainge of her green energy balls but away from her devistators. with the shield up you block the green energy attacks, and with the whipfist you target the the tendrils to topple her.
once she topples, use fully upgraded muscklemass for the extra damadge it gives to ALL ATTACKS! and use the fully upgraded Critical Pain Devistator, of Kemehameha devistator as my friend calls it. then hall your but back up to the ledge from before after some extra punshes to her face, rincce and repeat while consuming the hunters and infected that climb up to keep your health topped up.

The infected trophy isn’t a random number! It’s a reference to the first dead rising game where there was a trophy/achievement for killing the same amount of zombies. The reason the number is so random as the town the outbreak was set, that was the population of it. Gets mentioned in the intro. So I’m dead rising that trophy was basically “kill the population of the town”

Considering I absolutely adore dead rising in surprised I never got this! Dead rising 2 was always my personal favourite, I believed I did almost everything on 360. would love to go through it again.
not true actually, dead rising had 53594 a reference to the population in dawn of the dead, then left for dead had an achievement to get one more kill than that, and prototypes is one more than l4d

Just a correction. Alex isnt fully dressed. The "clothes" are his skin. When the virus copied him it also copied his clothes.

@TotallyNotJoe_when it comes to an autopsy on "infected specimen" you're not gonna care about keeping the clothes intact, everything was probably going into the incinerator right after anyways.

the very first time a young me launched this game, during the introduction i was slicing and dicing as you do, and i watched as a blackwatch soldier dove away from me only to be slapped by a speeding taxi and have his body flung right back at me.
Fell in love at that exact moment, played the crap out of both games on PC but never 100% them, only had the difficul master achievements left (no death, veteran mode etc)
Currently going for this one right now. I only have three movement events left to platinum, and one war event. It's as every bit of a nightmare as you describe, but kudos to you for pulling it off. It's nice to know that this can indeed be done.

@WatsonKHD it's worthwhile to go for. Collectibles are easier, the challenges are streamlined and the game has much better gameplay. It's a major improvement both for the platinum and for the game itself
@ThePlayer4ourehhhhhh, combat isn't all that much better.
I did Insane difficulty with minimum upgrades and only had a problem with the final boss because the boss refused to take damage.
@davidwhidden9337 it 100% is. Even the minor change of hot keying two abilities instead of one is a major change. Same with thr shield mechanics, pack hunting abilities and tendrils are great alternatives to hammerfists. There's a lot they made work better in Prototype 2

Heller loses so much of Alex's non-power abilities.
Comboing powers makes major enemies insanely easy. Just stun and cut. The military is a non-threat. Tanks, Copters all done in 1 hit. Bulletproof.
The pack hunter ability is lame. Heller can do so much more on his own. Heller gets 1 devastator AND it's a separate bar. There's no risk to using it.
They increased the number of chase sequences.
It's not better.
Gotta say, one of the few games were "hard mode" actually tears you a new one
Seriously, that last supreme hunter fight was without the shadow of a doubt more frustration and bs than both the movement challenges, aswell as the infamous 199/200 collectibles
All in all, going for the second game definitely was a breath of fresh air

Although I didn’t have much of an issue with the last supreme hunter fight. My biggest issue was definitely the Elizebeth green boss fight before hand
He's actually pretty easy if you have the right upgrades and use the Musclemass power to throw stuff at him. Such as the missiles or helicopters. I stunned him twice on Hard at the final fight with about a minute leftover. The same trick worked for Elizabeth Greene, kinda. Dodge/throw stuff, hijack tanks and using the air bladearm attack does a lot of damage to the tendrils around the spinal column I found.
Damn, now I'm tempted to go for the platinum. This is my favorite video game franchise and I so desperately wish for a Prototype 3. Hope to see you do the second game (I like that one more for James alone)

I remember going for the completion on Prototype. This game was a nightmare for me, I spent so many extra hours just trying to find one single Landmark orb, while it was right in front of my face the whole time. I still had to complete the game on new+, on hard difficulty, with out dying, and collect all orbs; so I decided to make a new+, hardcore, hard more file ( Thankfully there's a glitch that stop the game from counting a death ). It got so bad I had to download Prima's official game guide from the internet archive, just so I could find the locations of the orbs, only to still not find it. Keep in mind on this new file I made sure to touch as little orbs as possible so that I was more likely to find an orb when I went to a location.
In the end, after all the horrible hours, I was just a jump and glide away from the actual location of the orb. Problem was that there's these 4 grass patches in the top left corner, I kept looking around the bottom 2 for the orb when it was in the top 2. So every time I went to do a count for all the blue orbs I had, I kept counting that one as done when it wasn't
Nonetheless, great game and I hope with Xbox's plan to buy Activision Blizzard, that this series can be revived, great video btw.
Some of those orbs are incredibly sneaky, I’d love to say I found all of them by myself but the good old internet came in clutch for the few I couldn’t find. Took me hours of searching 😭😂

The events for the game especially ones where you have to kill a certain amount of enemies just seem so random at times, like it reminds me of those events from Saints Row where sometimes there's loads of NPCs then other times it's completely empty.

You can do it mate! It’ll take a while and you’ll most likely get stressed but as long as you keep going you’ll get it done.
Tip for hard mode; buy as many upgrades as you can and get the devastator where you raise spikes from the ground (can’t remember the name) I didn’t do this and paid for it in some of the later sections. Especially the mother boss fight

I have the platinum (or equivalent on steam) for every from software game and i still see this as my most difficult platinum trophy. Mainly because of the Pt trophy.
When the narrator says we, he refers to all the people inside Alex.
When I play a new save in this game the first thing I do when you finish the first mission is collect all of the collectibles, it makes a great start fund for all the upgrades you'll need.

Hulk ultimate destructions hard mode was pretty tough too.
I remember playing on hard and just throwing my self at the bosses with next to no upgrades
technicaly his clothes are also made out of blacklight virus so autopsy on fully clothed alex make sense if you know this detail
Nice one!! I went back to the platinum trophy after playing and getting 48% of the trophies back in 2012. I'm basically in the same order, except I'm getting everything on my first playthrough (normal difficulty). I don't want to imagine what my life will be like on hard difficulty. I'm currently at the platinum medals. This game brings back excellent memories. I platinum the second game a few days ago and there's no comparison, it's much easier.
I definitely loved my mind turning into mush and the slow descent into insanity as I watch a 2 hour video to find every collectible and then try to beat the nightmarish minigames

42:15 defending the bloodtox pump is actually really easy if you just steal a tank, I have never failed that mission with that method even on hard mode
I had to let the military deal with the supreme hunter.
Only ever got platinum on 2 games and thats Prototype and Prototype 2!!

My first tangle with attempting to plat Prototype was unsuccessful (still is ngl).I can say I burned myself out quickly when I chose to nab 'Hard to Kill' and the hard mode trophy in the same run... Haha yeah shouldn't of did that.
I am so glad that another person had issues with the challenges because during my platinum trophy I had got all the platinum challenge medals but no achievement it wasn't until I played ~60% grinding platinum medals again did it pop. I am guessing that it glitched and gave me a plat medal when it wasn't supposed to or not count it.

Back in the XBox 360 days i got every achievement except PT
The damn movement events were always SO precise with even small mistakes costing just enough time to screw me over.
Revenge Revisited was not a big deal because i grinded out most upgrades as soon as available (and sniped the Mother bossfight with devestators before retreating and recharging)
The only trophies my dad has left when he played this game in like 2010 are the hard ones i'd say

Loved listening to this video and hearing all the struggles you had because I had the same exact rage inducing moments! Im surprised though that you had no issue with the final boss on hard. Greene was easily the hardest and the most crazy dance of endurance, muscle memory and flick movements but I also struggled for a very long time on the final boss. I remember how much my heart was beating when I dealt the final blow. Huge congrats on getting this platinum! and as a recommendation, I would recommend you check out and cheap games on sale with 1/10 difficulties or any ps plus games as sort of a palette cleanser for when you do very hard platinums. They feel so relaxing to do and really reset the mental to get back into hard platinums.
I'm coming back to this game after a couple years and I'm doing my first Hard difficulty run and honestly I havent had too many problems. I started running around grabbing most of the collectibles which gave a good stockpile of EP and doing the mini games as they pop up makes it so I didn't have to worry about grinding for upgrades until half way through. Even then, it was smooth sailing. Of course it isn't easy to fight many powerful enemies and there's times where I have to run around to start regening and consuming but with patience things are smooth sailing.
I'm about to start the supreme hunter fight and I know thats where the difficulty will spike but nothing whipfist and Pain Devestators can't overcome. No deaths so far

Musclemass + charged throw is really powerfull.
How powerful?
It instakills hunters. Plural. Multiple hunters just smeared like pancake batter. Its the best weapon in the game against everthing except tanks and Greene. Its still good against tanks.

Mate you should honestly give them a go. For the most part they are incredibly fun games and the gameplay does keep you hooked in.
Getting all the Trophies/achievements on the first game is a bit of a b*tch but the second is much easier
the elizabeth boss beomes easier if you use hte hammerfist and jump from the tallest bounding you can find beside her. then the carrier boss fight is easier with the "yeet" upgrade for the arms
I played this on the Ps3 took me a month to get the platinum the orbs were the reason it took so long. The second game borrowed from my best friend's cousin on a Friday got the platinum on Sunday

I hate those tank challenges, almost impossible. I literally tried 100 times on one of those challenges (Ive counted) and managed to get only gold literally once, I didn't even attempt to get platinum rating on it.
I played this game so much when I was younger, that eventually I did a "harder than hard" run, where I forced myself to beat the game on hard disguised as a soldier as much as possible.
This meant that I would only use firearms and vehicles on ALL combats which were possible, and do all story missions disguised (and only disguise/absorb soldiers) as much as I could. In my mind I was playing as a Captain America kind of character, faster and stronger than a human, but still needs vehicles and guns to deal with the monster horde in the city.
Weirdly enough, this made the fight against Mother to be a bit easier as I could dish a lot of damage from further away, but made the final boss a nightmare, as all firearms and rockets deal very little damage on him, and I would run out of time all the time.
Still my favorite self imposed hard run I ever did in any game in my life.
I really wanna try Elizabeth in hard mode, cause I breezed through the boss fight around 30 mins on normal without issue. Granted I did use the best possible way to do this fight which is to throw ever single thing using muscle mass cause that takes more damage than whipfist. I just throw, regen, repeat, wait until she's down to use the critical devastator on her twice, deals the most damage to a single enemy
I loved the game cause it had shapeshifting shit, I guess I Was a lover of shapeshifting, zombies, parasite type games
I think the 2nd one was the piss easy one, i do remember the first one being alot more unforgiving and hard.
I did prototype 2 100% recently. Unfortunately the PC port of the first game has no steam achievements.
Also, about the clothed autopsy at the beginning... that ain't clothes.

Haven't played in a good while but I have gotten all the achievements before.
Just a tip for some of the killing challenges, you can get a tank from free roam and put them close to where the challenge starts for easy points, I dont remember but I also think you can do this for weapon specific challenges? Correct me on this. I do know it works for the demolition one you got stuck on, go around get some tanks, put them by the challenge point and shoot them when it starts. Had that plat done in like 10 seconds of starting the challenge

Yeah im at 199/200 location motes and half way through the kill 53k infected and im tapped out its got tedious but i love this game excluding the greene boss fight that can disappear....
the biggest issue what makes this game so difficult for me, unnecessarily, are the janky outtaded controls. still love the game though

No actually, Alex didn't get a small immunity to bloodtox, he gained a Full immunity to it.
In the prima guide for the games blacklight is the progenitor of all evolution. It has the ability to rapidly evolved immunities and countermeasures to whatever hurts it.
The nuke is the greatest example of this. Even just a 1 megaton nuke is several times hotter than the sun at 180 million degrees Celcius, but bits of Alex were able to survive being at the epicenter of a 100 Megaton nuke which is where the P1 bomb is calced at.
Meaning he survived essentially being thrown into a star and hotter.
Infact all of the powers Alex gets minus infected vision and claws were evolutionary responses to the situations he found himself in.
Hammerfists were an evolutionary response to tanks and armored vehicles, whereas whipfist was an evolutionary responses to helicopters and targets from far ranges. And thermal vision was an evolutionary response to all the smoke that clouds Alex's line of site when he blows stuff up.
Alex is basically a more tame version of Doomsday if you gave him a symbiote.
Well done with getting this platinum. I myself am trying to get this platinum tropy and even though I'm not that far in the story I am not looking forward to getting platinum all trials and playing the game without dying once.
Play through the game normally once mate and just enjoy it, don’t worry if you die. Invest in the upgrades and then you can do new game plus on easy difficulty and it’ll be a breeze to get through without dying

Fun Fact: You Can Hijack Tanks and put them in front of The Demolitionist event, then destroy them for a Easy Platinum XD
