I am a Springfield resident and the rumors may be a bit over dramatized but they are true. I am here. I see it. But the animal and pet situation is not the primary issue. Residents are suffering and all of the assistance is going to the Haitians. The walk in groups intimidating people. They are rude and entitled. They eat food in grocery stores standing in small groups opening lunch meat, cheese and eating it right in the aisle along with the fruit. If you say anything they the push you away and just laugh as the threaten you. The police are instructed not to interfere. The city management wants federal funding which they can take a bite out of but they aren't going to get it if they make the government look bad so they won't report it. Pressure is building and it will explode. We are good and kind people but we will protect our families with force if necessary.

yeah, ive lived here in springfield most of my life, and its bad here. It only seems to be getting worse every year as well. But this year there has been a huge influx of hatians and there just isn't enough here for the orginal residents, let alone for the almost 20k new people. Violent crimes are way up, and the traffic accidents are hugely elevated in the past few months.
I live here as well, I've been in the same apartment for years, we've been happy and content. I can't deny the fact that since the Haitians got here things have gotten completely out of control. On my way to work there's at least one wreck. My whole building were the only American family left. Rent nearly doubled when they moved in. Nothing has been done to fix or update anything. Hell I've done all the maintenance on our apartment since we moved in. I was never much of a people person but now I can't stand even going to the store because it's nothing but disrespect and rudeness. And don't get me wrong, not all are like this, it's like you can tell who is here legally or not based on their behavior and how much English they speak. Ok 😒. I am an Ohioan. I live in Xenia a half hour south of Springfield. Let's get the pets out of the way first. Springfield on the outside of the city. Is in the middle of NOWHERE! It's surrounded by country and fields and farms and forrest. Ohio doesn't have many large predators. The bears went extinct in the 1800's. The bobcat's are only number a few thousand and 60 miles east of Springfield near the Pennsylvania border. What we do have are coyotes. And even discounting that. Springfield especially downtown. Is very hilly and there are sharp turns and hills all over the entire city. Springfield is also one of the larger cities in the area outside of Dayton. There are 40,000 people in Springfield if I remember correctly. Pets here in Ohio. Even IN a city like mine that is completely flat. Get hit by cars ALL THE TIME 🙄. That's fact. Not to mention the coyotes. And stray dogs. One of my ex's and part of my family live and are from Springfield. Springfield....and this part is important. IS..A.. GHETTO! FACT! Springfield for the past decade and way before this. IS A GHETTO. It has the highest murder and crime rate outside of Cincinnati and Columbus and even Dayton. Long before any refugees from anywhere started coming there. Dave Chappelle lives in Yellow Springs. Just 15 minutes or so south of Springfield. He definitely knows the area. And when he talks about Ohio being the "land of poor white people" in his comedy. He's telling the truth. AND correct. Springfield is one of the poorest in the area. But you take a large poor city. And then pour in 30% more people in too short of an amount of time. And the local economy, social services, emergency services and everything the city runs on that is dependent on the population being a steady predictable amount. And it will crack and fail. That's fact. Anywhere. Especially if that city is poor. The issue is never immigration. Unless you are pure 100% native. And no one really is anymore. Then you ARE AN IMMIGRANT! DUH. No matter your ethnicity. The problem is not being immigrants. It's the amount over time. And making sure the proper background checks are done to make sure you're not letting in career criminals, known gang members or sexual or violent predators. That's why we have an immigration system set up in the first place. You can't introduce large amounts of people, even if they pass a background check and put the equivalent of 30% of the population that's already there and the economic and social services not buckle and collapse under the weight of that many new people. Our system of government and services isn't capable of handling the extra strain. Not in one city or area that quickly. None of them are. Especially not in a state like this in Ohio. Any city in this state would have the same issue. Spread out over the area (Miami Valley) yes. If they were spread out over the 10 cities in our area here in southwest Ohio then yes. But not concentrated in one city. Especially one of the poorer ones. And on top of it no good enough background checks. Springfield already has had and has a large drug and gang problem. Long before now. A city can't handle that kind of surge. Especially one like Springfield. That's just reality and math. Springfield can't handle it in any way. I am a Springfield resident and the rumors may be a bit over dramatized but they are true. I am here. I see it. But the animal and pet situation is not the primary issue. Residents are suffering and all of the assistance is going to the Haitians. The walk in groups intimidating people. They are rude and entitled. They eat food in grocery stores standing in small groups opening lunch meat, cheese and eating it right in the aisle along with the fruit. If you say anything they the push you away and just laugh as the threaten you. The police are instructed not to interfere. The city management wants federal funding which they can take a bite out of but they aren't going to get it if they make the government look bad so they won't report it. Pressure is building and it will explode. We are good and kind people but we will protect our families with force if necessary.

I told her I had no idea how he lost his disability and on top of everything him and his fiancé and her baby can’t even get food stamps but we’re handing them out free to non-American citizens yet my husband and I and my son’s 6 brothers and 1 sister are paying their taxes every single week at work I’ve worked for years and paid taxes. My husband has worked for years. My son‘s dad has worked for years we paid into that and our son had a severe car accident that has permanently damaged him for the rest of his life and he cannot work, he tried to work and he kept having severe seizures. He will never be OK but yet he doesn’t qualify for food stamps and he’s having to reapply for Medicaid. How is there not Medicaid for life because he’s not gonna be able to work ever ever. He took a guard rail through his brain, so please tell me how my son is supposed to be OK to work?? But yet we’re handing out all these resources for free!

yeah, ive lived here in springfield most of my life, and its bad here. It only seems to be getting worse every year as well. But this year there has been a huge influx of hatians and there just isn't enough here for the orginal residents, let alone for the almost 20k new people. I live here as well, I've been in the same apartment for years, we've been happy and content. I can't deny the fact that since the Haitians got here things have gotten completely out of control. On my way to work there's at least one wreck. My whole building were the only American family left. Rent nearly doubled when they moved in. Nothing has been done to fix or update anything. Hell I've done all the maintenance on our apartment since we moved in. I was never much of a people person but now I can't stand even going to the store because it's nothing but disrespect and rudeness. And don't get me wrong, not all are like this, it's like you can tell who is here legally or not based on their behavior and how much English they speak. Out of this whole building a single man and his daughter who happen to be Haitian and legal migrants are the only ones I've met who I gladly will invite over for dinner and hang out. The rest are tearing up the place throwing trash everywhere despite being yards walk from a dumpster. Outside drinking starting at 10am. But it's not entirely their fault either because Ohio is letting investment companies from other states buy up everything and Jack rent up. And seeing as Ohio has no tennent protections we get screwed.

Ok 😒. I am an Ohioan. I live in Xenia a half hour south of Springfield. Let's get the pets out of the way first. Springfield on the outside of the city. Is in the middle of NOWHERE! It's surrounded by country and fields and farms and forrest. Ohio doesn't have many large predators. The bears went extinct in the 1800's. The bobcat's are only number a few thousand and 60 miles east of Springfield near the Pennsylvania border. What we do have are coyotes. And even discounting that. Springfield especially downtown. Is very hilly and there are sharp turns and hills all over the entire city. Springfield is also one of the larger cities in the area outside of Dayton. There are 40,000 people in Springfield if I remember correctly. Pets here in Ohio. Even IN a city like mine that is completely flat. Get hit by cars ALL THE TIME 🙄. That's fact. Not to mention the coyotes. And stray dogs.

Springfield is one of the poorest in the area. The problem isn't refugees eating pets. They made that up to scare rich Republican white people to vote for Trump and JD Vance. Media and republican scare tactics. What else is new 😒🙄. That's not the real issue. The problem isn't even taking in refugees. It's the amount of them.
If you take ANY city not just in Ohio. But in the entire country. And you suddenly bring in the equivalent of 1/3 of the population that you already have. You're going to have problems. PERIOD. Doesn't matter where you are in the country or on the planet. But you take a large poor city. And then pour in 30% more people in too short of an amount of time. And the local economy, social services, emergency services and everything the city runs on that is dependent on the population being a steady predictable amount. And it will crack and fail. That's fact. Anywhere. Especially if that city is poor.
The issue is never immigration. Unless you are pure 100% native. And no one really is anymore. Then you ARE AN IMMIGRANT! DUH. No matter your ethnicity.
The problem is not being immigrants. It's the amount over time. And making sure the proper background checks are done to make sure you're not letting in career criminals, known gang members or sexual or violent predators. That's why we have an immigration system set up in the first place. You can't introduce large amounts of people, even if they pass a background check and put the equivalent of 30% of the population that's already there and the economic and social services not buckle and collapse under the weight of that many new people. Our system of government and services isn't capable of handling the extra strain. Not in one city or area that quickly. None of them are. Especially not in a state like this in Ohio. Any city in this state would have the same issue. Spread out over the area (Miami Valley) yes. If they were spread out over the 10 cities in our area here in southwest Ohio then yes. But not concentrated in one city. Especially one of the poorer ones. And on top of it no good enough background checks. Springfield already has had and has a large drug and gang problem. Long before now. A city can't handle that kind of surge. Especially one like Springfield. That's just reality and math. Springfield can't handle it in any way. Not socially, economically, social services wise, police wise and culturally. These are poor southern descended people. That are even more "country" in attitude and beliefs. Than any city in the area.
THAT'S the problem. Not that they're Haitian (except for the "country" racism in the area). And not the scare tactic lies like eating pets or people doing voodoo, I'm guessing on that second one because I haven't bothered listening to the bs Trump or Vance has tried to lie about. And frankly is EXTREMELY insulting to use thinking that we're all that stupid to just not see a couple of con men "used car salesmen" trying to scare us like were a bunch of toddlers 🙄🤮.
Either way the problem is not immigrants or scare tactic lies. It's logistics. Plain and simple. Fact. ✌️

My hometown was overrun by the neighboring cities. It drove out locals and those still here aren't happy. That's a migration of residents in the same state and its run down our infrastructure and economy. I couldn't imagine the same but with foreigners from war torn countries.
