@@tobiasthexiv534 I dont think Kokichi is outright a villain. The worst thing he ever did was the Gonta move, and that was pretty heavily motivated by self-defense. Final chapter even can be called one of the more heroic moments for any character in DR games. His motivation is more Chaotic-Neutral, but he is more of a useful pest than an outright villain.

Tbh, I feel like the Danganronpa Series got less interesting and deep as it went. The first game had so many things bringing tension up, from Alter Ego’s discovery, to Taka’s comatose state, to Hifumi and Taka fighting, to Sakura’s betrayal, to Hina’s revenge attempt, to Genocide Jack’s reveal, to Byakuya’s attitude and actions, to Kyoko’s mystery and betrayal of Makoto, to the betrayal of Mukuro. The second game had to actively rely on Nagito most times to ever keep tension up past the third chapter. Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko had some serious potential, as did the Kazuichi/Sonia/Gundham plotline and the Nekomaru-Akane Guilt plotline and the Chiaki Traitor plotline and the Ultimate Despair one and even the Ultimate Imposter one. Hajime’s lack of memory and a talent was also utterly wasted until the very end; wish we had gotten more Kamukura hints and dreams throughout. Or maybe Kamukura being in the program or even speaking sometimes in Hajime’s head. Unfortunately, so few of these things were truly written to full-effect and development. DV3 worsened this even further. Rantaro was killed right away, leaving the Ultimate Hunt plot and the tension going with it hanging. Kaede was killed too, and I feel like, if they wanted to kill her off, doing so later would’ve been a better idea. Either way, her dynamic with Shuichi was just too good in my opinion to have wasted. Kaito’s illness was downplayed and not very relevant, Maki’s talent reveal didn’t bring much tension in the bigger picture. Angie’s cult did not really show much of a division or tension plot for very long, and even Kiyo’s entire creepy backstory is kept until the last minute. Kokichi was a serious crutch for this game and I feel like his prominence kept the other characters from fully demonstrating their personalities and tension.

I know this explanation isn't satisfying to everyone (like "so it's supposed to be boring?") but since I really enjoy the game's story and didn't get bored, I like to think of it this way.

Like if Rantaro was kept alive and knew things the others didn’t, they could’ve distrusted him as time went on, especially after they saw his video. Korekiyo being revealed as a Serial Killer before his death would’ve been satisfying too. The Gang would’ve had to learn to put up with him in this environment devoid of trust. Heck, even Angie’s Student Council could’ve been done in a more lengthy way to increase tension between the students. I still enjoy the game, but it has so much wasted potential.
y'know, kokichi was genuinely upset by gonta's death, his crying and offering to be punished with/instead of gonta was real. but after the trial, he tried to cover his real, sincere reaction by acting _ridiculously_ evil because he didn't want anyone- especially not the mastermind- to find out his true feelings and motivations. kaito also pointed it out after the trial, something like "you've always been weird but you're being EXTRA weird now" (not direct quote but lol) so like tbh if you do a lil bit on analysing it's actually sort of obvious where kokichi sneaks in truths, even though he says otherwise. tbh that's what makes him extremely interesting to me- he uses lies and over-exaggeration so much that when he's truthful, you can't tell, hence nobody can ever know what he's actually thinking or feeling. an excellent facade, but at what cost?
Falling back into my DRV3 kick after a few years- yes, to all of this. I've always thought this since the game came out. You've got this deeply paranoid and insecure individual whose ENTIRE schtick is keeping people on his toes, because he thinks his survival is hinged on it. He's made it clear multiple times throughout the game at this point how important it is to be aware of everyone's inner intentions as to disarm them (chapter two motive videos), how to corner liars (chapters 1 and 4 trials), so you can infer that he's doing the opposite for himself as to not be in that hot seat of vulnerability: he's not letting anyone know his true intentions, and he's trying to give himself the guise of a compulsive, nonsensical liar so that no one can pick him apart. Putting himself into just that moment of cohesive, relatable vulnerability while publically mourning and feeling guilt would of course make him snap back in an extreme fashion, just like you said. It's common sense that overcompensation comes from being confronted with fear, after all. And we, the audience, have noticed that even if he *tried* to come across as a loose canon, Kokichi had been largely consistent as a pesky and insensitive trickster persona- never this. He's demonized those associated with killing, chided those who attempted to over-moralize and form cliques as a method to solve murders, and dissuaded deceit in the rest of the group by pretty much using himself as an example for how disruptive it can be (as per his "Don't try to lie! Because I'm the lying professional, I'll catch you, I'm offended you tried, etc."). So clearly, him "going evil" was never the case, and was probably one of his least calculated manuevers, in all actuality. Well lookie there! I can still write impressive paragraphs about this little guy! He's a psychologist's favorite pet- lol!

I usually love Kokichi but I genuinely hate him sometimes, the end of the 4th trial included. And sometimes he's pissing me off *because* he's always right 😅
"Just because you're correct doesn't mean you are right" moment. I think encapsulates Kokichi's best and worse moments. Kokochi is a joker. If the situation is going downhill he'll take matter into his own hand, but if not he'll become a frick. Honestly, it's nothing that special. If you found someone that you agree with, you become to like them and dislike them if you disagree with them. It just happens that many people agree with him when the usual "good guy" is wrong at the moment.
But the reason kokichi was so pretty sad about gonta was bc Gonta was one of the only people who had respect for him and when he said he was fake Cried wasn’t he was just scared of everyone catching on to him and how he actually feels kokichi is a genuinely good person and lied for the sake of everyone and to protect himself 😞
I feel like it was more than just that. Kokichi has massive trust issues and tends to assume the worst intentions out of everyone, even someone as pure as Gonta. For most of the trial he had no clue Gonta lost his memories, so was under the false assumption that Gonta was far more manipulative than he realized, which was what was getting him so angry since he thought Gonta was pulling everyones strings by playing dumb when Kokichi already knows Gonta did it cause he was there. He then realizes in the moment when Gonta in his dying moments tells everyone not to blame Kokichi, that he REALLY WAS a genuine person, and that his assumptions about him were wrong, and he's about to lose the only person who genuinely trusts him right now, and he doesn't even blame him even when he knows deep down this is his fault which caused him to mentally break down at that point from the weight of what he just did, cause that makes it cut all the deeper. I don't think he realized that Gonta actually cared about him til that moment and you can really see his mood shift because of it. Before that point I think he assumed everyone, even Gonta hated him, and used that as a reason to emotionally distance himself from others so it wouldn't hurt as much when they die, so finding out someone did care, and were about to die cause of you must have really stung for someone like him
Chapter 4 honestly made me upset. I was sad both about kokichi and gonta and miu. Miu and gonta died which is obviously why I'm sad. Kokichi's breakdown actually got to me for some reason. Damn if only Gonta did it by hisself instead of being controlled by kokichi. It would felt so much more sad rather than anger. (◞‸◟)

Believed Kokichi, or B. Or stand as a bodyguard for him. If Kokichi didn’t go to the roof, Miu could’ve murdered someone else or tried to find him.
Honestly Kokichis breakdown seemed really real I guess I can kinda understand why people think he is lying tho Even tho his sprites seemed different from before but yeah he even said he was prepared to be executed with Gonta Its kinda funny that when he says hes lying people believe him 🤔

Fun fact: it was because of kokichi and him dying that they found out who the "Mastermind" was and they were able to live, is kokichi didn't do anything that he did when they were there they wouldn't have been able to figure out who the "Mastermind" was and they all would have died ( sorry if the grammar was bad in this or anything English wasn't my first language)
Uhh no, it was Himiko who found a passage way through the girls bathroom. That, plus the info from first trial was the reason why the mastermind was found, not bcs of Kokichi

Why is this one of the only "constant Ultimates" in the series, along with an Ultimate??? and an Ultimate Detective, missing from the game. There wasn't an Ultimate Detective in the second game and that's okay; It wouldn't make sense for the school to admit two people to school at the same time. But Ultimate Lucky is a constant in the classes and in the series that could not be missing, regardless of whether the Mastermind is lying or not in the end. In addition to Kokichi several times being in places for halibis or finding clues by luck. In addition to the way Kokishi's name is read, 小吉, it also means "little luck".
I always thought kaito was the ultimate lucky student after all why would hopes peak let in some nothing burger kid who hadn’t even made it to space yet because he was so lucky he was able to sneak into I believe a lab on space research he was so lucky he was “ immune” to the meteor virus we even see this in the killing game he was so lucky he survived to the end he was so lucky maki didn’t kill him or just say no he was so lucky kokichi didn’t die at the wrong time this fits even better with the theme of dv3 The first game was hope vs despair The second game was reality vs belief And now v3 is simply trust kokichi believes that you should be cooperative and helpful but not completely trusting while kaito believes that no matter what you have to trust in everyone and because of this they both die while shuichi maki and himiko all are inbetween the two so they survive kaito relies on luck kokichi relies on fact and shuichi relies on understanding ( I’m sorry my English is bad English is my fourth language)

As someone who also does not like Kokichi despite his intelligence and somewhat wanting to help with the trials, I feel very validated with Jazzy's reactions to him.
Honestly, from this trial on, really started to like it especially the interaction between Kaito and Suichi, which affected your relationship with Kaito after this trial. I was turned off from the beginning because they killed my man Ryoma. After his death, I hated this game and characters....until this trial.

A perfect set-up for the fifth trial (which WAS written poorly because of how many circles it went in and because not enough time was devoted to explaining Kokichi’s motives)

Fun fact: it was because of kokichi and him dying that they found out who the "Mastermind" was and they were able to live, is kokichi didn't do anything that he did when they were there they wouldn't have been able to figure out who the "Mastermind" was and they all would have died ( sorry if the grammar was bad in this or anything English wasn't my first language)

Literally, with the way Kokichi can get her messed up in trials and them working together in the bg (so he knows first hand how she is). Her choice of victim was smart but can be considered a betrayal :(

The first game was hope vs despair
The second game was reality vs belief
And now v3 is simply trust kokichi believes that you should be cooperative and helpful but not completely trusting while kaito believes that no matter what you have to trust in everyone and because of this they both die while shuichi maki and himiko all are inbetween the two so they survive kaito relies on luck kokichi relies on fact and shuichi relies on understanding

@@PGOuma I mean, not really. You can dislike how the trial played out, but it all makes sense after the murder is explained, and the twist is pretty great. A perfect set-up for the fifth trial (which WAS written poorly because of how many circles it went in and because not enough time was devoted to explaining Kokichi’s motives)

At least kokichi helps with the trials which makes up for his lack of respect for most of the cast but Maki is rarely helpful half the time and the other half she’s the opposite of helpful
Sad thing is kokichi is the only one who actually respected gonta and when he died kokichi was genuinely sad...... Btw how does kaito not now who shumai is? Like i think we would all know like whos name stats with shu.?shuichi obviously! That was not relavant BTW...
