I grew up with Ahmad Jamal in more ways than most folks. I not only grew up with his masterful music but his amazing person as he was my Uncle. Uncle Jamal was not only brilliant in playing the piano but brilliant in his thinking. Many times we would talk about life, faith, history, and many other things. That is what I will miss most in his passing. Thanks for posting this beautiful album and remembering my Uncle, Ahmad Jamal. Peace and Blessings upon you.
Your uncle was an amazing pianist and artist. He made so many great albums, with one also being a marvelous funky, souly and groovy Fender Rhodes based album Ahmed Jamal '73. A personal favorite of mine that one.
Condolences to you and your family....
@@AlluCola misdemeanor is one of Ahmad Jamal most sampled song in hip hop. I thank hip hop music and especially Dj Premier from gangstarr, because he's the one who brought me here.
ur unc taught me how to love piano. much love.
Thanks for sharing. Your Uncle was a gracious, ascendant soul.
when you know youre going to love it in the first few seconds
so true, once the music started, I thought to myself, sit back, it's gonna be a sweet ride!
The Miles Davis/Ahmad Jamal connection came about in an interesting way. Miles's sister Dorothy was in a club where Jamal was playing and she was so impressed by his playing that she called her brother right there to tell him about Jamal. She held the phone up to the bandstand so that Miles could hear his playing. Miles was taken in immediately by Ahmads style on piano and admired his, "use of space."
Ahmad Jamal's use of space was beautiful! One of my favorite things about his style and approach.
I bought this in 77-78 I was 17. I had a really hot 22 year old girlfriend. We are still friends !
This is the best comment on RUclips!

@markbra STILL HOTTTtttttt or cooled down ....got a pic. This is jazz funk during the disco NUTchery ...
We're the same age...for a moment I had to make sure that girl wasn't me! 😜 you weren't on the west coast, were you? 😏
I'm in the Rose City 🌹
You a victim brother
May the master of the keys rest in peace ...
Shout out to his right hand bassist, who weaves the whole magic together with his keys...
I have loved Jamal's music for a long time, but I have never seen this album. It's not available on iTunes, where I get most of my music. I hope it shows up there so that I can buy it. His death is a great loss for the music world and particularly the jazz community.
I’ve never heard of this guy and I’m not big into jazz. But with that being said this REALLY spoke to me. I will most definitely explore more of this artist’s music. Thanks for posting
He’s amazing and he just died only a week ago I’m glad his music can make him live on much longer I too love this artist and am also grateful for the post
first album I heard by Ahmad Jamal was "The Awakening" - i already enjoyed Oscar Peterson and had piano lessons but Ahmad has a way. It's more open and i was lucky enough to see him perform at Yoshi's when he reunited with his best trio in about 98? I wonder if there's footage from that night . I didn't even realize he just passed. He has left us so many gifts
Welcome! Enjoy the jazz ride and the amazing journey now!
WOW totally shocked ! I knew about him from studying jazz music in junior high school. The other is due to Nas beat who's world is this? , the world is yours.
@@dreampopwavestudiob7282 thanks for that! putting that on now ohhh! wow now i'm thinking there must be a ton of people who sampled Ahmad. I bet a compilation of those tracks would be amazing - somebody call a producer
Rest ❤in Heavenly Peace👑 #DearBrother #AmadJamal🙏🏽💐🙏🏽Thank You for all The Beauty 🎶🎼🎶
My number one favorite musician. I flew from Tokyo to San Francisco in 2019 and wached his performance for four straight nights. That was awesome. He promissed to come back next year, but it was not been made because of Covid. Now that promiss is no longer kept. So sad.
One of my GOAT jazz pianists, this album was the emanation and establishment of a sonic vocabulary that would eventually catapult Maestro AJ to the icon of his unique sound in the 80s that everyone really dug and patterned.
@YoTrakz Productions NICE INTRO, where s the rest of the copy. Whydicha stopped ? Carry on, write on, rare on tje forum ....
RIP Ahmad Jamal just thanks.
a minor detail, but that kick sounds ridiculously nice
This music, is so sophisticated and classy... I love it! 🙃😍😍😍 Playing this every night , makes wanna... Be next to him. Appreciate this music
Wow, I didn't know him, but it's wonderful. Jazz in the 1970s was so creative, amazing!
Check out the late 50s/early 60s. It'll knock your socks off.

Niceeeeee 1st time hearing❤ very classy! Dreamy fo sho. 1:33
I saw him at The Sunset Lounge in West Palm Beach many years ago and I can still recall that amazing experience like it was yesterday!
love that suit💕
It's hot!
I was surprised with listening this tune,it had recorded 70's?
I began playing his music on college radio the same year this album came out. He embodied the hip , cool jazz style like Quincy of the early 60's. He was a great influence on Steely Dan, which is special to me.
Tucson is a beast! Great playing all through the album, but that song really gets me.
Absolutely Brilliant! Sorry to say, first time listening to Mr. Ahmad Jamal and his fabulous Group. Can't wait to listen to more of his music. Thank You for Sharing🤙
To me endlessly tasteful ... in tailors .. mistress . and notes 🌷:)

I was 10 years old when i got to see this guy playing his drums to a song i never heard of. As i walked into the house the music was incredible sounding, specially since he was jamming rite along with the tune. 47 years later birdland from weather report has introduced me to some of the finest music that i never had to look for. I can't be more thankful that to this very day. Like this album, it all made its way to me. Thank you very much for posting these great works of music.
This is a superb upload. Thank you for your diversity in jazz. Tired of hearing the same old stuff. This is new and innovative to me.
This may be my favorite Ahmad Jamal record
Try "Jamal Plays Jamal", if you haven't already played it. An absolute gem.
@@alkebulansan thx, i looked up the record, i had completely forgotten it, 2 years ago i put a comment on the youtube page for it (:

Wonderful Listen...wow
Glad this popped up as a suggestion.
Definitely a good one.

Great cover!
Damn pretty sure Monte Booker sampled My One and Only Love. It’s cool finding the sample
DJ Premier from gangstarr also sampled Ahmad Jamal tracks
@@danteerskine7678 I’m sure he did
First time listen!!!!!
best
My vinyl jazz collection is wildly uninspired. Mostly scratched LPs and overhyped mainstream jazz records. That said, I somehow have this in very good condition and it gets mad play for obvious reasons! The plaid suit cover doesn’t hurt either!
Rip Maestro
si, bueno😘✌️😎
1st song: "Handicapper." Mmm. As I'd been told by people that would know, AJ had a gambling problem - especially he did like the ponies. It created some sticky, maybe dangerous situations. I would say that the "problem" eventually got worked out, thankfully, and he maintained a well heeled, well balanced later career that carried him to about age ninety, when travel just got to be too much. Not bad. Memory eternal.
The cover art refers to this.
@@Twentythousandlps Certainly, it does, but now you've got the back story.
Owooo! 🐺
After this album, I can tell where DoMI & Beck got their inspiration

Who?
@@vova47 look it up.
intro to first song played...echoes of a steely dan song...
Apart from the price difference we do not know why to choose it vs xpro3

PIANO ! at start .
Great great playing ! but man that album cover WTaF in 1976! did they not want to sell records.
Peace! What’s the story behind the album cover? What racetrack is that supposed to be at? 🤔
This guy is fucking cool.

The youtube caption reads "foreign [music]". I'm offended!
I gets it; but, I doanst. The albulmin had a diffrent face ons it. It looks like a ol' benni gud men. It was a square one. Ways beyonds squares, like Larry Welks.
I love this. The talented duo JD Beck & Domi have captured some of AJs sound and we all definitely owe him a debt of gratitude. RIP
No they have not. No comparison. This has rhythmic beauty which those two are along way aways from.
The second song is not okay😢😮
Fantastic upload. Thanks
