speaking of music, i played quads for the first time today edit: technically it was concert toms, but i set them up and tuned them as tenors. and i also played emc beats on them.
A year later and I almost made drum corps on drumset. Only reason I didn't make it is because there was a contracted member from the previous year playing drumset but they needed to audition people because there was a possibility of that spot opening. Point is I've made enormous strides since I made this original comment and have become a lot better after transitioning from middle school to high school.
@@petermcdonald4957 even as a percussionist, the stuff Eric plays is tough to follow sometimes. He's just really good, and battery music at the higher levels gets ridiculously complicated.
@@SeanLaMontagne I would imagine, because seeing the accuracy of his sweeps and how he doesn’t hit the rims astonishes me, but I’m sure it helps that he’s been playing for so long
I came here trying to learn how to do one thing (make the sheet music scroll right-to-left without blurring) and left with something even better (a scrolling play bar). I was able to figure out how to do this in the software I use: DaVinci Resolve. Excellent video! Thank you so much! I'll be using this on all my tutorials now.
Good Morning! CONGRATS EMC for you promotion to sergeant. May you continue to serve and to create vids in your channel. We'll support you to the very end.
I definitely think you should keep the scrolling bar When I watch these kind of videos, I’m usually not trying to sight read and play along. If I want to play what you’re playing, I pull up the sheet music and read from there. The scrolling effect makes it much easier to casually watch because it makes it WAY easier to understand and follow just how insane what you’re playing is. Just my 2 cents, but yea keep the scroller
I like the scrolling bar, but if you don't use the bar, don't switch to the next screen to early. After all, when we are reading it on the video, we are not sight reading it, we're reading along with you, so I would suggest having it switch right when it happens in the music. Thanks for this tutorial! I have been wondering how to use some of those effects for a while, not to mention adding music to my videos. Have a good morning!
Hey Eric, thanks a lot for this one! I always enjoy your vids for entertainment but this one is genuinely helpful. I consider doing some online content for my drum section as we can't meet live for rehearsal during the pandemic. This is exactly what I was waiting for to get me a bit closer.
Wow! Just what I was looking for. Great video and instructions. I need a scrolling highlighter for beginners to help them understand how to track their eyes with the notation. This was the ticket.
I do not have a big brain 🤓 like you (or my deceased husband RedDogHD) so I know I need to pay attention (to the instructions in your video) so I can use Math and Science (X-Y coordinates) to do all this fancy stuff ... (I'm using Filmora 9). Secondly, you asked 🤔 if we should have the scrolling cursor move along with the music? My answer: 👍 Definitely! 👍 Otherwise I am totally lost ... And, thirdly, and Best of all: 🥰 I love when you 3:32 speak 🥁 "Drum" ! 🥁 Great instructional video! ( more Drum-Speak 7:51 and 8:08 )
Yo EMC I had my last football game today! So sad that my season is over, but some of your videos helped me improve so much over the summer and the season! Can’t wait for next year! (P.S. this was my first year on tenors)
I've always thought that having the entire piece of music on the screen is better due to being able to actually see ALL of the music as the music is being played. This may not work with longer pieces due to the size. Just a thought.
Hey, I was wondering what kind of microphone you use that gets such clear and equal sound? I’ve been looking for one but they all are 3-piece sets that cost close to $800
Wouldn't it be easier to screen Record the sheet music playing? At the risk of being out of sync tempowise, it's still simpler Cuz I suck at editing this is way too complicated
Without the cursor, normally I would just look for the shots and then when you hit it I knew where you were.....and got lost again. So l like the cursor
Personally, I think having the scroller on every other line or something like that would be really cool. A lot of the time I get lost in the music since I don't play percussion, but also want to get better at reading percussion parts without the scroller.
He already made his original goal of 1000 signatures on his change.org petition, but I don't think there will ever be wedding (cow) bells in the near future! Makes me sad! 😭😞 Change.org changed his goal to 1500 automatically when he reached his original goal ... or so Eric told me! change.org/p/human-rights-campaign-inanimate-objects-are-people-too
Drum too fast, brain no process sheet music without magic moving bar
Same
I still don’t process it afterwards lol

Well that was super useful and I’ll actually use this tutorial. I think it looks better with the cursor (maybe make it a bit lighter though)
I guess you listened
Definitely like the scrolling cursor. It's that little extra something-something that makes the video *Crisp*
Plus this music is complex considering I’m not a percussionist, so it’s harder to follow along with

Out here answering the real questions. I don't play drums or edit videos, but continue to be throughly entertained by you. Thank you for the content

Great timing, Eric. This is way better than what I was doing.
I agree, I'm going to try to figure this out in iMovie
I like it with the curser tracking along to the sheets better

great tutorial, great musician and great personality

With the purple slide bar thing is better
i like the scrolling cursor but make it 69% opaque
