imo he should title it Pixel Update Bulletin, and in vid just say "welcome to the pub" it'd be fun!
A lot of the patches listed in the Pixel Update Bulletin also apply to a lot of other devices.
But since this is Android OEMs we're talking about they don't apply the recommended patches. Nor do they rebase onto quarterly and monthly Android Open Source Project releases... :/

This is a Google enthusiast channel... Wouldn't make sense for them to cover Apple.
Although it is, it is surprising that other Android channels have been praising Apple so much since yesterday, given that this is a Google feature channel. I am dismayed by this turn of events. SMH 😢😢

Also even iOS able to customise/resize/draganddrop control panels now and we have pixel/stock android provide you the bare minimum customization on control panel.

@fantasytky28 I agree with your assessment regarding the limiting customization options on Android. It is indeed a valid point. Your thoughtful perspective has been noted, however I still prefer Android for several reasons. The remarkable expansion of the Android ecosystem is undeniable. Nevertheless, I would never consider choosing iOS over Android due to my deep appreciation for the open nature of the Android ecosystem. Being part of the Android ecosystem empowers me to personalize my devices and apps to align with my specific needs. My primary observation is that Apple is increasingly adopting the Android approach, but they still have a significant way to go before fully integrating it into their system. Overall, although I appreciate certain aspects of iOS, I am not willing to conform to their methods in any regards. Just in my humble opinion... 😇🤦🏾♂️
Little random rant.
Project mainline has been a disaster and only has just split the codebase between APKs and APEX modules. Play System Updates regularly get delayed heavily and are sometimes a month plus behind across the Android ecosystem, which defeats a lot of the intended purpose of shipping fixes out of band since vendors don't port to monthly and quarterly releases of AOSP.
Because apparently Google hasn't made that a platform compatibility requirement yet. They only fix a small handful of issues if they are shipped on time anyway.
Many recommended patches are included new releases and some high and critical fixes aren't backported at all for these vendors to use, since they all stick to initial baseline releases.
The Pixel Update Bulletin is also somewhat misleading and a lot of the patches listed there are also applicable to a lot of other devices.
By "recommended patches", I mean patches not required by the Android Security Bulletin to declare a new patch level btw. Which desperately needs to be expanded.

Hey guys - I have my new Pixel 8a for about a week now and i noticed that facial features like my beard are oftentimes not as sharp as with selfies with my Pixel 2XL - I went to a local store today and compared my selfie cam to another Pixel 8a and actually noticed that the store-one was indeed sharper leading me to assume some kind of hardware issue which is weird because some selfies do look very sharp and good in good lighting but as soon as the light is not 100% perfect it just falls apart and my beard for example starts to get kind of blurry - are there any people here having similar issues?
I'd think this would be worth having a look at if this should affect more users :)
Same on my pixel 4 5 and 7pro.
The selfie camera is very good in excellent lighting. But as soon as the lighting is not optimal the quality of the selfie turns to shizzle!!!! Not very good at all. iPhone selfie camera never has this issue. Even the selfie camera flash on pixels is total wank!

PUB is not nearly as bad as Apple Intelligence.

Speaking of, I just got the secuirty update on my s24 ultra.
They aren't the same. You are confusing a quarterly Android Open Source Project release for the patch level.
New releases and the Pixel Update Bulletin include a lot of recommended patches that other vendors like Samsung don't apply. They also aim for the 01 patch level, meaning they apply firmware and driver updates declared as part of the 05 patch level for this month, next month in July.
One UI 6 & 6.1 run on an AOSP release from October fyi.

@@josemendes4110 if you were close by I wouldn't mind thinking about it. I been Samsung all my life been loyal to them tried out iPhone a few times and couldn't do it. In that season of trying something new again but definitely won't be iPhone. Might try pixel. Idk yet. Or may just upgrad to the s25 ultra
@@JCobia234 i can't recommend Google, they don't seem to know how to put out a phone that does what Google phones do but with better hardware and more reliable software. I'd stay with Samsung if I were you.

Pixel 7. I have a constant error when leaving google search started from home screen widget a keyboard pops up and stays on screen till i lock/unlock.
And 1 idea i wish google implemented for sooo long. My ip address for some reason shows not my city but in the nearest region. And without turned on GPS my weather is not correct (not my city). I do not want to keep gps turned on to save battery. Why cant i just chose my default city and need to be keeping gps turned on? We android folk laugh at how prehistoric iOS is and cant chose weather in weather widget...🤡😞

How hard is it for ALL of these clown companies to actually just post the change log in a normal fashion on a "normal" website with an easily accessible link when people are offered the update.

@@albundy06 Anything that doesn't ship with the Android Open Source Project is out of scope.
I'm talking more about the generic codebase and not what OEM B decides to add to their Android 14 port.
Additionally closed-source code doesn't mean it's instantly insecure and its not as big of a black box people make it out to be. People can still inspect the code, even if its not freely visible and modifiable.
Pixels are private and secure devices for production purposes.

What's on git/ aosp is not what's on our phone's. It's not the updates are pushed to our phones.
"Change logs" aren't change logs anymore. They're marketing material at this point

The 14-QPR3 OTA will roll out gradually to Pixel users on the 5a+. You can also sideload the latest release by downloading the OTA file off the Google developers website.

hi i had installed graphene operating system on pixel 7 through chrome browser. Then I switched to android again. but there are only two color modes on the screen: natural and adaptive. PREVIOUSLY WITH THE ORIGINAL ANDROID THERE WERE ALSO SATURATED COLORS... :(
