I still REALLY love my Vixen ED114SS 600mm/F5.4 refractor. It is the best I have had in the 30 years I practise this hobby.

I'm a BIG Vixen fan and I must say I am shocked more steps aren't taken to control dust and debris. Particularly during assembly. No gloves, no mask, no hair cover. Even the initial pour of the lens glass is done in a pretty dirty environment. I'll bet they get hair, dust and even finger prints on the lenses and inside the telescopes. Given they have such a great reputation I suspect Vixen spends a lot of time on quality checks.
I wonder what their rework and scrap expenses are......

There is a similar video for the Takahashi factory on here in which the production is very similar. It is a bit surprising from a modern clean room environment perspective, something you might expect for a scientific instrument, but I quite like this. It's more artisanal.

The technician cleaned the glass when he installed into the cell.

Very interesting to see the process. I can't believe it's an APO with only a single glass element? Or maybe they didn't show a step where they assembled two or three elements together to make a doublet or triplet APO.

At 8:00 you can see it's a doublet. Must be using ED glass. I think they didn't show a step as you suggested.

what a genius process to create a Refractor telescope...hahaha..and we say just put a big glass and a small glass on one and another end of a tube and its a telescope

If you're doing an article on a specific company, is it *that* difficult to at least spell their name correctly?

At around 9 minutes it shows finished telescopes and they are clearly silk screened VIXAN on the side. I suspect this is not Vixen.
