    I remember reading one of the Legacy of the Force books a few years ago and remember something very telling. When Luke confronted the Mon Cal admiral who had put his nephew, and new Sith Lord, Darth Caedus into the role of head of state. She said something about not understanding how a Jedi could do the things that Caedus had done, and Luke informed her that his nephew was a Sith and not a Jedi. The admiral responded with: What is a Sith? It had only been thirty-five to forty years since the fall of Vader at that point, and it was shocking that people could even forget the Sith, but then again, the Sith had been gone for a thousand years before that, and any dark side wielder would normally just be called a Dark Jedi, so it is probably not surprising that people might not know the difference between the two orders.

    Fear is what the Sith Live by. Darth Sidious used this as a way of asserting his Rule over the Galaxy during the age of the Empire which is why No one suspected that Palpatine is a Sith Lord. In other words, He was Untouchable.

      While fear is a powerful tool, so is manipulation. The greatest irony of all? Was that Sidious used the biggest Mind Trick on the Order by putting a veil of deception over the Jedi. Thus in turn the Jedi could not detect he was a Sith Lord until the end.
      Again fear could be a tool but so is the shadows as well. Mind, Matter, Manipulation.

    The Senators, military commanders and system governments who had supported him before, during and after the Clone Wars would have been *horrified* to learn that he might have been using the Force to read, and perhaps influence, their minds all those years. In retrospect, if his great popularity could be reattributed to Force-based mental powers rather than simple political acumen then there would have been a sense that Palpatine had tricked them into removing the Jedi so that he could use his own Force powers more freely. In short, he would be seen as a "witch" who started a witch hunt just to eliminate his own rivals, *not* to protect the galaxy.

    One thing that I've always seen fairly odd is how Sidious didn't embrace himself being Sith when he told Anakin about it.
    I mean you can't by republic law attack someone for their beliefs, especially the supreme chancellor and he could have played the same end goal with that strategy since no one outside the Jedi knew what Sith is. Jedi were seen as a religious group, so my assumption is that same applies to Sith as well, so the self-defence against the Jedi consulate and Order 66 were 100% justified without hiding his identity.

    • @daniels7907
      @daniels7907 2 года назад +10

      Yes, but how would the Senators and military commanders react to the possibility that he had been reading and manipulating their minds using the Force all the years he was in politics? This was not a question of "religious liberty" (which ought to have made Order 66 illegal), it was about what *powers* he might have been using on those around him.

      @@Joni_Tarvainen - Again, we're not talking about religious freedom or even quantifiable crimes. Just the *suspicion* that Palpatine was a secret Force-user who had been using his powers on members of the government and the military would have inflicted *devastating* damage to his credibility and reputation!
      With Vader and the Inquisitors, there would have been the sense that they were attack dogs for the Empire, but that (supposedly muggle) Palpatine could always Order 66 them like he did the Jedi if they seemed to pose a threat to the non-Force-using majority.
      But if Palpatine himself were also a Force-user, then the whole situation would look a *lot* more sinister to most people. Especially if anybody made the right connections and realized that some of Palpatine's Force-using henchmen were ex-Jedi. After building up so much negative press around the Jedi, the implication that Palpatine himself was a Force-user merely leading a rogue Jedi faction would make him look like he was just another hidden traitor using the Force to dominate normal society. At which point the nascent Rebellion would have gained a *lot* of supporters, including within the Senate, the bureaucracies, and the Imperial military.

In most cases you need a Jedi in order to combat a Sith Lord. Darth Sidious could have easily decimated Legions of Ordinary People. The only way he would have been overthrown is if his own military turned against him.

    I get that people in the verse didn't necessarily get the distinction between Jedi and Sith; tithe common soul, especially humans who lacked other racial Force traditions, they were all "Jedi", and equally dangerous. It's sort of like in Warhammer 40k, where humans don't know the difference between Craftworld, Exodite, Harlequin and Dark Eldar; they are all "Eldar", and equally dangerous. People in the X-Men region of Marvel didn't care what your "mutant power" was; how great or useless it was. If you had one, you were a mutant (read: "bad"). I do sometimes wonder though, then, why it was okay for Vader to be so open, but then he wanted people to be scared of Vader.

    The galaxy at large would likely not know of the sith but it was still extremely foolish and the sith would be found out if just one archaeologist who knew of sith artifacts and the history of the sith told the jedi order particularly before episode 1 time period . The jedi would have time to prepare and initiate the Knightfall protocol, for anyone who doesn't know what this protocol is , I will explain it is the council's emergency initiation for ensuring the jedi order lives on for generations to come, mace and the other council members would initiate this on learning of the sith's return . The jedi would scatter relocating to the unknown regions to world's like ossus and Acht To , ensuring if the jedi was hunted they could return to battle the sith .
    Why the jedi didn't initiate this protocol after discovering the sith returned after episode 1 , I will never know .

      Palpatine did want to disband the Senate sooner than later, but there are two basic reasons why he kept the body:
      A) To maintain pretense that the member systems of the Empire still had a voice on the central government; and
      B) Palpatine needed the Senate as a face to "maintain law and order" until the completion of his Ultimate Weapon; once the Death Star's ready for action, he surmised that "fear [of the Death Star] would keep the systems in line," to quote Tarkin, so the Senate is no longer of use to him.

    • @MobbKeith

      Up until the Death Star was completed & Luke was I think 17 in a "New Hope" so about 18 years. The Death Star would keep planets in line instead of their Senate. You vote no, you die with the push of a button. Tho the Empire did clean up much of the galaxy from underground gangsters, brought law & order to planets who had none, gave jobs to trillions of citizens n so on. Many truly preferred the Empire, tho mainly middleclass & up.

I can certainly see that the galaxy would fear force wielders in general especially given all the horrid actions caused by them that no normal individual can do. So, yeah, Palpatine would keep the fact that he’s a force wielder hidden.

    I love the idea that Sideous was afraid of being known as a force user instead of a sith. As those who played Kotor2 will know, many normal folk of the galaxy didn’t/couldn’t see a difference between sith and Jedi, hence the name of the Jedi Civil War, even though as the player we could very clearly see the difference between the 2, most people just saw wizards with laser swords fighting over something that didn’t make sense.

    Personally fear was only a tool, very much like intimidation. Manipulation is the greater key. Including the mind.
    How many times did the Jedi try to manipulate the mind to sway to their cause, or get out of a situation?
    Plenty! Which is why Bastila stated in KotOR...
    "Jedi do not kill their enemies, what greater ability is there than to sway your enemy to your cause."
    In many ways Palpatine did this to a grand scale. Incite fear and dread, only to convince them to his cause.
    With Padme in Episode I, he showed her the flaw of the Republic and the time consuming process of bureaucracy, which by the Motion of No Confidence made him Chancellor.
    In Episode II while Padme and Anakin were investigating Anakin's mother, and Obi Wan. The revelation of the Clone Army any the Separatist Movement caused Jar Jar to make motion to grant Palpatine emergency powers to command the Grand Army of the Republic.
    Finally it was putting the premonition of Padme's death in childbirth in Episode III in Anakin. That sealed his fate to the dark side, and make him Sidious's Apprentice as Darth Vader.
    So from this fear yes was a factor, but only a tool in the end. Manipulating people, and Events was his true power. All while blinding the Jedi Order to it.

In retrospect, the Jedi were lackadaisacal and arrogant most of them sadly deserved their fate as none of them saw what was coming.

    These videos are interesting and all, but this dude seriously repeats himself about 3-5 times in every video. So basically it's about a 2 minute video repeated several times and then followed by a solid minute of merch advertising.

    Jesus is God & He loves you
    Jesus will soon be seen by all men, women, and children in the clouds. Jesus is returning now! Believe and be saved.
    Exodus 3:14 (God speaking)
    And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
    John 8:58 (Jesus speaking)
    Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
    John 10:30 (Jesus speaking)
    I and my Father are one.
    Isaiah 9:6
    For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, *The everlasting Father,* The Prince of Peace.
    Matthew 1:23
    Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, *God with us.*
    John 1:1 & 14
    1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    14 And the Word was made flesh (Lord Jesus), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
    John 8:24 (Jesus speaking)
    I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
    John 14:9 (Jesus speaking)
    Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
    Hebrews 1:1-3, & 8 (God calls His Son "O God" because Jesus IS God in the flesh)
    1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
    2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
    3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
    8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
    1 John 5:7
    For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
    Titus 2:13
    Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
    Revelation 1:7
    Behold, he cometh with clouds; *and every eye shall see him,* and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
    Isaiah 44:6 (God speaking)
    Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
    Revelation 1:8 (Jesus speaking)
    I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, *the Almighty.*
    Revelation 22:13 (Jesus speaking)
    I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

    There Are None Righteous / How To Be Saved
    Romans 3:10 & 23
    10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
    23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Luke 5:31-32 (Jesus speaking)
    31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
    32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
    1 Peter 3:18 (The word “quicken” means “to make alive”)
    For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    Romans 10:9
    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
    Acts 4:12
    Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
    Ephesians 2:8-9
    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Repent of your sins or suffer the consequences. Lord Jesus died in our places personally to take the death punishment that sin deserves and then resurrected by the power of God. Believe this and sincerely repent of your sins each time you sin and you will have eternal life and nothing to fear. Fail to repent and you will end up in the Lake of Fire.

    Darth Sidious was as cunning as a fox

  • @sexybeast1930
    @sexybeast1930 7 месяцев назад

    Sidious as Emperor did sometimes exert his raw power around people but those same people would then be killed to keep that secret around that bit more longer.
    Especially in an alternative ending if Vader had failed to kill him both he and Luke in turn would be dead and Sidious would then leave the the death star to exert that power out on all the rebels on the moon base everyone. Any witnesses to his power there would have also been silenced. That was a what if scenario. But nonetheless secrecy was his primary focus hence why the public so rarely saw him so he could focus on learning more he could from the dark side of the force.
    Had he succeeded in killing Rey (wish he had) and destroying the entirety of the resistance he would have made the full extent of his sith identity completely out in the open and the New Empire would have been more than three times stronger and 100% unopposed.
