the song getting that radio effect as it switches to Yuichi's car is so insanely nice, just shows how great the sound design of this series is, right from the start. also, you can hear the 86 rev up as it downshifts for the corner, exactly when Yuichi says "he hasn't changed a bit". this anime is simply amazing.
I remember my girlfriend showed me the deja vu meme and i asked her what this song is from and she showed me initial d. At first i found it just funny but as soon as the first episode started and that scene came i was in love with the anime, the culture and the music! Now its one of my favourite anime of all time. It has that special 90s vibe that is so special and cool
