I had a kelpie for fourteen years that I rescued from the street. They're amazing dogs. Incredibly smart, and faster than any other dog he ever met. He used to jump into my arms and loved to climb trees.
this video is awsome!!! I rescued a Kelpie 3 and a half years ago and I have never had a more loyal, loving, velcro dog in my life!! She is a "result" of Katrina...I had no idea what I was getting myself into when she was brought here from the States and I adopted her...all I can say is...Kelpies are the best!!!
IK, we have a 9 week old purebred kelpie, I started training her the very basics the day she got home, it took her 5 minutes to learn to fetch/bring back, at 9 weeks she knows how to sit/stay/drop to the ground, come and walking at my side on lead all by voice command (except drop we've almost got that one) I had NO IDEA how smart these dogs are when I got her. She's VERY loyal and LOVES to be doing something, diligence, patience and love are the keys to her heart.
That was awesome! We just adopted an Australian Kelpie/Australian Shepherd mix. My son has an Aussie Shepherd/lab mix which made me fall in love with the Aussie breed. SO smart! We pick "Chance" up Saturday. Looking forward to this kind of training/playing!
Kelpies traditionally have been working dogs with top priority being function. These days, *pet* dog breeders seem more concerned about the form over function, and lose sight of the true spirit of the Kelpie. This dog looks 100% Kelpie. The "dog on the tuckerbox" was a nice touch to the vid. :) Cheers.
wow that kelpie is identicval to mine we rescued her from a rescue in red deer and shes just like that hard bite and loves to do agility and she jumps 6 feet for one jump beutiful kelpie
@copilotsagility Yes, your dog looks like a beautiful Kelpie! Our Spanky loves to tug, but also has a very soft mouth when picking up a bird. She is very dainty and gentle with birds. And she loves to do all the hunting stuff that our retrievers do. She is all around a very versatile and enthusiastic dog. Willing to give anything a try. Kate Johansson, Fast Pup Dog Training
@fastpupdogtraining they are wonderful dogs amy has a soft bite when playing with the puppies she is very gental with them and normally just stands there and lets them do all the pulling they are a wonderful breed but i wish there were more of the true austrailian kelpies like spanky and amy the black and tan ones from here in canada are the total opposite
Helloooo! This is a fascinating video. I have a question, since I loveeee dogs eternally but am hopeless at training, my question is- Where did you begin when training Spanky to learn the instructions and obedience in the video above? I wouldn't have any idea where to start! So thats why I'm asking, so when I do own a dog I can be a good owner =) Thank you!!
This is a great video. Im getting a Kelpie cross, Need help with names though any suggestions for her? it cannot be sally or poppy as we already have 2 girls called that.
I found my little lola kelpie on the side of the road. I seriously think she could doutrun a chitta. Dos anyone have any advice for shoulder displasia treatment ?
I'm sorry what some of you in America and Europe - consider 'kelpies' in Australia they are considered rejects - kelpie is 99.99 % short haired with 70% having a double coat - you have 'snub' nosed (short nosed - not common) and standard - common! Kelpies are aloud a small ( YES TINY!) splash of white - or they are almost certainly cross bred!!! Kelpies love to run! But they can defiantly live in a unit or flat - they need human love and companionship more!! Golly!!! Your a kelpie expert?
This type of footage is the reason why I look at RUclips. They always cause me to laugh. HOWEVER the vast majority of pet owners are little by little KILLING their family dogs (without understanding it).I came to understand the challenging way when my pooch died at 7. If you have a pet dog and you would like to conserve its life and high-priced veterinarian bills and be sure your family dog lives for longer then look for Double Life Dog Diet (Use Google.) It's what I did.

I love this video - Spanky is so happy. This is great training and a beautiful dog. How lucky to be Spanky's owner.
What a happy Kelpie! Seeing her go into the water so enthusiastically is great.

@LoseTheLeash Hey guys! Thanks for checking it out! Spanky is the best ambassador for her breed and for our business. So enthusiastic and trustworthy.

Kelpies are for experienced dog owners only!! My Aussie mates are true live wires x
I doubt very much we would import the very best of our dogs! Never have before and never will!!
You can get supplements from your pet supply store. And your regular treatment from the vet.

@ShannonBCampbell I will bet that is cuter than cute! Dingos and Border Collies are supposedly ancestors to the Kelpie

kelpies involve allot of time and effort.. and are working dogs... they are not a domestic pet unless exercised correctly. like in this vid
