Was really great to hear stories from Mr. Saluga's career - who seems to be a wonderfully down-to-earth, humble, low-key fellow. But really wish the whole "Raymond J. Johnson Jr." phenomenon - and the character's creation - had been probed more. The character struck me as a zoot-suited carnival barker time-traveler - with a cheerful, outsize personality. The way Saluga only very briefly describes his inception seems to be not unlike the legend of how Chaplin came to create his own iconic screen character - quickly, out of sudden necessity in a costume-dressing room. Also it's a real pity and missed opportunity that nobody thought to put in him in 1941 (1979) - as Raymond J. Johnson Jr. would have been perfect to have been dropped into the jitterbug dance contest sequence(s). A wonderfully fun and timeless character that would be great to to have more insights on....
One of the more memorable acts of my childhood. Good to see you Billy! EDIT: And he does it right up front. Fantastic
RIP Gilbert. Who ever knew he'd be outlived by Mr. Johnson
You doesn't has to call him Gilbert...
@@louisskulnik7390 Now they’re both gone :(

STILL HILARIOUS.....
Strait up, serious question: Was Bill gay? I can't find much information about him online.
I'm confused.
AKA 'RAYMOND J JOHNSON JR."
Comedic equivalent of a one hit wonder.
Better than no hit at all. He rode this pony into stardom.
or you can call me J
or you can call me Ray
