I think it's a fair criticism. The Strawhats, Zoro and Sanji were willing to offer up their lives for Luffy's. The entire crew also refused to hand him over in exchange for their own lives. The Kid Pirates as soon as they hit the New World crucified a pirate crew that was trying to return to Paradise, with Kid saying they were too weak and they should die for even trying the New World. With their two heavy hitters down for the count the rest of the crew folded against an obviously superior force, but their Captain is the one who initiated the attack and would've instantly slaughtered all of Shanks' weaker subordinates. They have to live and die by their Captain's decisions, this is the pirate world, they don't get to back out when faced with certain death. I don't think Shanks was even without sympathy for them, but he was raised as a pirate since before he could walk and talk by OGs who went through everything and he wasn't going to give them mercy that their captain wouldn't give.
Kid pirates are evil, even in the OP World, first time see7ng them Was actually hunting civilians. And here wasnt even a need to blow up all those people, if kid could do it another way. So people who attavk other people for no reason killing helpless people and then beging for life? What did they think about taking other lives? Did they Show mercy? I Personally would do it in the most brutal way possible. I also think in rl, if someone attscks you, that Person should be prepared to die, it is pathetic to beg for his life if as attacker

Sure, it's understood that they did it to attempt to get their captain spared, but again, the moment they offered to give up the poneglyphs is the moment the kidd pirates actually thematically died. They gave up on their captain's dream. And since they gave up, then they truly received no mercy. Shanks read up on how unapologetically violent the kidd pirates were on their journey, and the future sight confirmed their attitude to shanks. Shanks retaliating in the way he did, with no shred of mercy, is the exact karma that the kidd pirates deserved to get hit with. Rest in piss Kidd pirates, good riddance!
Law at least has proven to have decent Haki. He put Vergo down like a rabid wolf and used Hardening while fighting Doflamingo. He was also able to reverse Doc Q's Devil Fruit disease. Kid has it, but he shows almost no skill in it.
