I was vaguely (almost) a victim of identity theft. Not the bank but EBAY. But we only ever sold or purchased items FAR LESS than $100. Someone apparently hacked our account and purchased a $25K Harley Davidson motorcycle (LOL!) Both Ebay and local bank became involved due to both realizing the funds and purchase history was false and the purchase was disqualified.
What Jordan was teaching his team during that scene wasn't a "pump & dump". A pump and dump consists of artificially inflating stock prices (pumping) by various means, in order to sell (dump) at a higher price. This was done during the Steve Madden IPO, during which he'd ask his brokers to sell as much of the stock as possible in order to inflate the price before he could sell the shares he owned. The scene being discussed in the video is just reeling in customers with reputable stocks then screwing them over with high margin stocks.
I would like to see an experts react to Leverage and/or Leverage: Redemption because the way that show does crime is so different because it’s based on real crimes, even the creators had to dial back some of the stuff they did.
obviously didn't see arbitrage. the movie is about richard gere's character and the unraveling of a ponzi scheme WHILE he is being investigated for fleeing the scene of an accident. the detective in question is there for the local, physical crime.
Yeah lol. I noticed that little mistake too. If I remember Arbitrage correctly, Gere was a suspect in the death of his mistress, but it was only his daughter who discovered his financial crimes.
I love how this guy is explaining all this financial stuff and it all sounds so interesting. I think he does a great job and yet I still don't understand any of it.
Next: Professional Custodian breaks down janitor scene. Custodian: Notice here he's intentionally swapping out the mop water in the bucket, not only that he's also using a level three cleaning agent for what's clearly a level one hazard spill, totally unrealistic. If it where me I would have continued with that same mop water, switched to a too prompted mop head set up my caution sign, in asked that the spill be announced on the PA system.
Defending Billions and huge SPOILERS Alert: it was a trap all along. Chuck Rhoades knew Bob was manipulating the market but was not sure. In the end of the season we discover that the informant was working for Chuck and that their plan was to expose Bob Axelrod as a fraud and a criminal. . It was also a play on the audience that understood how market play, but not screenplay since this happens mid season and in the last episode we get to watch Chuck Rhoades plan unfold.
@@jjcoola998 There are two main characters at this point in the story- Elliot and Darlene. I won't say much else to avoid future spoilers. I still recommend watching, it's an amazing ride.

What I don't get is what happens to those fractions of pennies that don't get diverted to an outside account? I assume the bank keeps it, surely thats theft too?
This is a good point. I suppose these fractions were created by the bank paying e.g. 1% interest. If you have $100.50 in your account then 1% interest = $1.00 & 5-tenths of a cent If the bank pays $1.00 & 5-tenths twice then it pay you $2.01 i.e. the fractions in the customers account will combine & form a whole cent in which case the customer keeps those fractions If the customer closes the account, the bank isn't able to give him 0.5 of a cent so the bank would keep that 0.5. if you ask the customer if they've lost any money they'd just say "no i was expecting $1 interest & that's what i got so my $ hasn't gone down even by 1 cent". Therefore i don't really feel like there was any theft by anyone.
