"Stand back, gang. This is my duel." Yagami and Kuwana step onto the empty city street. Tumbleweeds in the background. This song starts playing. They stand at a distance, starring daggers at each other, fingers twitching. "It's high noon, Yagami."
@@davidtimmer596 I wasn't referencing OW, just a general western reference, I didn't even know Matt was in the first game, played both with Japanese audio. Though I am not surprised, Matt is everywhere :D
Two local rangers duel to settle their difference on arresting policies. One believes in mercy and rule of law, the other believes only in their right to be judge, jury and executioner.
"It ain't gotta be this way, Kuwana." "Oh but it do, Sheriff. Your badge says it does." "The badge is a symbol of justice." "Justice. Justice for when it's gangs of murderers and bandits, maybe. Where's the justice for the townspeople squeezed outta their homes to make way for the rail company? Where's the justice for the Injuns starved out by killin every last bison and charging em for it? Who hangs the noose on those men? Not you. That's where I come in. When men and women have lost everything they have, I'm their salvation. I'm their avengin angel. But you, you read from a book and point at your gilded star and say you're justice." "I see this is gonna have to be the hard way, Kuwana." "It's the only way, Sheriff. *Come get me."* "Alright Kuwana. *Here I come."*
I for some reason heard a man rambling in my head about having one more "PLAN" and something about "HAVE SOME FAITH" as i listened to this 10/10 seriously good.
This is genuinely really solid. It's interesting how it conveys a showdown between a hero and a man on the edge of the law, who is yet still hard to truly call a villain. A man who wouldn't exist if the law did what it was supposed to. Proof that if you don't want vigilantes, justice had better be real. And so, this square off. Justice vs Vengance. My only musical suggestion would be replacing the "boing" effect with something less.. silly? Perhaps harmonica, that's also Wild West-y.
What's the instrument (?) that makes the "pwong pwong" sounds in the beginning and end? Also, fantastic atmospheric buildup for this one, it really captures the spirit of a showdown.

Matt Mercer's not in this one. He was Kuroiwa in the previous game though. Kuwana's voiced by Todd Haberkorn.
