Yes but Jimmy Clanton’s version did NOT Influence The Carpenters.
Ruby & The Romantics’ version did. In fact, The Carpenters covered no less than THREE of Ruby & The Romantics’ songs: THIS ONE, “Our Day Will Come” and “ Your Baby Doesn’t Love You Anymore”.
