  • 550 Paracord has a number of applications and uses beyond simply stringing up a ridge line for a shelter. In this video, I'll present how to use 550 cord to create snares, how cut parachute cord without a knife, use it to upgrade your kit, and even start a survival fire.

    A couple of more to add to the list. Use the inner thin white cordage to use as fishing line. In addition you can use that same thin white cordage as a trip line or perimeter warning line. Use mud to conceal the white coloring and string around your camp perimeter attached to a banger. I like to use a 20 gauge blank shot in a spring loaded puncture case. String the wire about 18 inches off the ground. Try and string it so that it flows directly horizontal and perpendicular to the path of approach.

    Well done Bill
    Glad to see that I'm not the only one that likes to use figure-8 knots as stopper knots, instead of an overhand knot, especially for Canadian jam knots!
    And if you haven't replaced your shoe/boot laces with 550-cord - your wrong, so drop and give me 50!!

      Oops, in your sentence "... your wrong...", is an all-too-common grammar error. It should be either you're or you are. Yes, when spoken both you're and your sound alike, however when written both present completely different meanings and usages. When written that which follows your is something belonging to the person you are writing to. Hope this helps you and others as well.

    I've seen alot of people lace boots with the left to right at start on bottom. That way it's less likely to snag on brush as your going through thick brush. I have done it as well in past and worked well. Think I saw PVT Alien 4x.

      @@STOKERMATIC that’s awesome you’re very lucky , we have a terrible problem with ticks here in Northern NY you really have to check yourself constantly because they can bury themselves in your skin and they do carry Lyme disease , my dog got it from a tick. Usually every year I get a decent amount of them on myself because I live in the woods and there is no avoiding it.

    Thinking out loud; 550 cord stretches, things like the old Spectra cord stretch less. So making pack zipper pulls would it be any advantage to use both? And does bank line have any place in this?

    • @STOKERMATIC
      @STOKERMATIC  Год назад +1

      I used the survival cord for the pulls, it then provided tinder for the fire.
      I wouldn’t use bankline TBH for that. But that’s just me.
