Guys. My bad on the Freudian slips. It’s Truth Sayer not Truthslayer. 😅 Btw I think Desmond is an Ghola! That scene with the work may have confirmed it.
It's also my guess, he's probably a gholas. The Bene Tleilax could have already put their hands on a Reverend Mother, since Reverend Mothers have existed for a few decades by now, so technically it would be possible for a gholas to be made this early. But I still don't understand how he pulled off his burning trick... PS: Bene Gesserits shall henceforth be formally known as Truthslayers 😂 Fits them perfectly lolll
Liked the commentary! Liked the leaps you’re making based on your sensitivity to the mythology… it doesn’t have to be right 100% but they are interesting, so I hit the subscribe button.
It's unlikely he is a Kwisatz Haderach, he hasn't taken the water of life and it appears that the sisterhood hasn't even started that practice yet. Also, causing someone to spontaneously combust is not an ability of the Kwisatz Haderach. Yes, the TruthSlayer made me crack up over and over!
#1 The current Reverend Mothers can access other memory like the ones in the movies. Raquella was the first ever to succeed in transmuting a poison to do so, followed by Valya and Dorotea. The poison at this time wasn't yet derived from Sand Worms, so the success rate was extremely low. Most who attempted died despite preparation. #2 Dorotea's faction was more concerned about the technology necessary to maintain the breeding programs' archives. Since the program is still good to go by the main story, we can conclude Valya won on that front. #4 Desmond's powers are more consistent with the Sorceresses of Rossak than anything else. They used the exact same ability to fry Cymek brains during the Jihad. #5 The Corrinos are the Butlers of the Jihad. They changed their name after the Battle of Corrin. Serena Butler is THE Butler of the Butlerian Jihad. They earned their fair share of the glory. #6 The Harkonnens were disgraced since Abulurd Harkonnen hesitated in mankind's attack in the Battle of Corrin, defying Vorian Atreides.
Herbert's timeline is ridiculous. There's no way that science would stagnate the way it seems to have between this show and DUNE. I'm quite certain that if something was that important to society that it wouldn't take over 13,000 year to create a synthetic analog or transplant the work to another planet, and Vendetta, I just don't buy that one family could hate another for 10000 years, especially nobles they just aren't built that way.
its hard to forget history when you have revrend mothers with racial memories there to remind you of every detail. And the whole point of the series was to highlight the extreme control that religion can have over a population. The prohibition against machines was carried threat of annilation and any suggestion that someone on your planet was messing around with them would get the entire planet nuked.
Yeah the show is literally about how humanity is now afraid of technology and goes through extreme lengths to prevent further advancements, at least in AI. It kind of explains why scientific advancement overall stagnated, but then you have secret planets like IX synthesizing spice and space travel.
It's more likely he's the first generation of the 'golas' and has some kind of 'Ixian' technology causing the burning. I'm not sure the spelling on either of those is correct it's been years since I've read them in print....love your content
Oh! That makes a lot of sense. Since it’s 10,000 years in the past. It’s prototype Ixian technology. The Ixians pushed the boundaries of machines before getting to thinkin machines. That would make sense why he didn’t flinch at the thinking machine toy.
First, “Lisan al-Gaib” means “Voice of the Outer Worlds.” This is implanted by the time of Paul Atredies into the religion of the Fremen by the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood. As to the Kwisatz Haderach, this is something that the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood strived to make (and control) with their breeding program, which is just started during the time of this series. Absent here at the start of the Sisterhood is drinking of the Water of Life (the exhalations of a drowned Sandworm) in order to pass along the memories of one Reverend Mother to another. Desmond’s powers will certainly be explained in a future episode and I will bet they relate to his own religion.
@@Emanon... I think he gave her something when they were in person. She knew something was wrong and said it was fear she never felt. She may have been infected with some microbe
I rewatched the first episode this morning. I think something happened between them in the emperors throne room. The way his and her eyes twitched. Based on him and the young duke. It looks like he doesn’t need to touch you to activate the burning.
Ok after rewatching and knowing the source books pretty well, here's my theory of the season. The Ixians have watched (like they always do) the goings on in the galaxy and see the Bene Jesuit quietly expanding their power and in an effort to counter that and gain their own power (like they always do) they have created the Golas to be a sleeper assassins and the Sisters will figure it out by the end of the season, they will use influence to make it look like the Ixians were the bad guys all along, hiding their secret power and influence. The universe has never liked the dirty Ixians, this maybe the story of why.
@Binge_Zone another thing to expand on the Bene jesuit see this burning truth that the Ixians have created and they realize that this will bring about arafal at some point. So that's why they start the quizat breeding program, so they can create a being that can stop this from happening
Does anyone else think those glowing blue eyes at the end of the reverend mother's vision belonged to a machine rather than a human with spice addiction?
@@Binge_Zone Indirectly. Leto's goal was to free humanity from the curse of pre-determination. I dont think there is direct mention of machines returning in the original books - simply some implications and ambiguity in the final bits finished form his notes after Herberts death (during his writing of Dune Chapterhouse).
It is Hollywood's attempt to tell a story that was written 60 years ago. The Bene Gesserit control the Universe in the Dune Book. To not tell how they got to that power would be against reason. Even if insecure men and their "tool" women get offended.
@S.D._777_ the sisterhood was created in 1965. Fire and blood was not. My point being dune always had " girl power" we just didn't have people like you that make an issue where it's not. Compline when it happens not beforehand
Thus far not too much of the message has been shown, many DEI points but nothing more, I pray they will never even go into identity politics and stuff like that. First episode was great!

Thats the point of stagnation, the system was design to remain in control through centuries, at the expense of innovation.

Dezman is not human. He is a clone
good call a gola
Great review
What I can't fathom is how he can burn the BG woman on Walach 9.
That seems a bit far fetched, even for a fantastic universe like Dune.

I’m actually working on a theory video based on a similar theory but I have an ideological spin on it.

I like it!!
I need more Lisan Al-Gaib!
that was a myth invented by the Bene Gesserit themselves as part of thier religion building for the Kwzatz Haderach unveil they had planned.
Just going to leave out that the princess is almost certainly pregnant with the swordmaster's kid (who's an Atreides)? 😅
Great video
He is not the Kwizachadarach.
Truthsayer, not truth-“slayer”. It is about detecting who speaks truth or ‘says truth’. It has nothing to do with ‘slaying’ anything…
this
I think it's an accent and I think it's cute
@@DGRLA Everyone has an accent… sometimes people just mispronounce the words in their accent though…😉
This was great! Except for the 23 times you said 'truth slayers' instead of 'truth sayers' lol.
My bad 😅
In the Dune universe there are no supernatural or pyschic abilities. The characters were killed by poison, which is predominant in the books. IMO

Early face dancer

my money says hart is a ghoula or facedancer. other houses like ix have their plans too.
I’m leaning towards ghoula being sent by the Ixians
