Many thanks for a fabulous tour, such a beautiful castle with an interesting history. Very enjoyable - as with all of your videos - so very well made. Many thanks and greetings from Guangzhou, Thomas
Oh wow, I really don’t know what to say about this place, I mean it is stunning. How impressive would this place looked like in its day. Wow 😮. Loved hearing all the history. Thanks for sharing this amazing place
So glad you enjoyd it Cara, you would LOVE it here!! Not far from you ( well it is...but it's kinda in the right direction haha ) Thank you kindly for watching, commenting and always supporting! So lucky to have you as a friend!
You really have been in my neck of the woods this last couple of weeks. Last time I visited Okehampton Castle was early(ish) last year not long after I had broken my foot exercising my dog on Woodbury Commom. I was still determined to climb up to the tower, and I did!! Can’t wait for your visit because I will learn much more about this castle. Many thanks, Peter.
Oh my! OUCH! It was quite the strenuous climb to the stone keep, so I can only imagine the pain you went through to climb it with a broken foot! My hat is off to you! hehe. Really enjoying Devon/Cornwall and we really want to spend much more time visiting the lovely south west! Hoping to do so in the next few months before 'getting out and about' becomes hard with the weather. Thank you so much Peter for being so kind and encouraging always! We honestly love bringing these video's out and love learning about these incredible historical places! Have a great bank holiday weekend!
Hi Alessa, Another master piece. Absolutely, your narration enhances the film. So much bitter history happened in this castle. Headed! The interesting fact about no well in this castle. It suggests me they all were drunk? hahah They must have some kind of health issue? So much untold stories. I praise you , two. Your films must be on the shelves of the every single educational institute. I praise YOU and Brett. I may miss your next show since we will be celebrating his BD in FL. I have an issue that I am in visible and nobody can see me unless the host make me a moderator manually. Now it fixed!
What a stunning location! The views from the castle are breathtaking.I can't decide what's more terrifying-the haunted carriage or the idea of carrying water up to the castle without a well! The history you shared about Oak Hampton Castle really brought the site to life. It’s so important to preserve these historical sites and share their stories. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you for sharing this captivating tour of Okehampton Castle! The history and stunning views of Devon’s largest castle are truly remarkable. Your video brings the past to life-well done! ❤😀👍
What a lovely place. That William the conqueror was a bad lot though. It reminds us of Corfe castle in its design. 17 children!! It's a lovely castle and as always brilliant to see it from above. Cheers guys 🍻
Hi Alessa & Brett, what a stunning castle! It was truly magnificent. Strange that the sons did not want to take care of it. Good job he had a daughter who did! 👍😀 The views from the castle are fabulous. The 'Wronged Woman' sounds like a very scary apparation! Poor woman being falsely accused over the years. Fantastic aerial footage at the end. Stunning! ❤❤
Thank you so very much Julie and Lucy, love your support - it means alot to us! I know right, fancy leaving a castle...A CASTLE..so someone else hah! Thank you so much for being awesome, wishing you both the BEST week and hopefully you're eating lots more Greggs sausage rolls hehe!
I can't believe I have never visited Okehampton Castle - seen it from the (now sadly disused) Dartmoor Railway. Thank you so much for showing us around. For a castle ruin there is still so much to see. Great narration and history. Take care, Paul
That's super interesting Paul, It's such a shame to hear about the disused railway in the area :( Oh you would absolutely adore a wander here, as would you enjoy the walks that they have around the woods/forest, it's really quite a special place. Thank you so very much for commenting and watching, it means alot!
Great views of the castle ruins. Such amazing historic architecture. Lovely tour and history of Okehampton Castle. Thanks for sharing with us. Enjoy the week.👍
This was truly a incredible video on Oakehampton,, me and the wife are planning a trip down to Penzance but before we HAVE to stop off here with thanks to your video,, just amazing Thanks guys
We absolutely loved this one and do you know why…. Our surname is ‘Courtenay’ and Nick has just informed me that his family way back are from this area! Some fantastic history and storey telling Alessa! Wow it looks so good from above! Fabulous ! All our love Lord Nick Courtenay and Lady Jilly Courtenay 😂❤
Ooo-er! I'm in the presence of nobility! Hehehe, Lord Nick and Lady Jilly! That's so cool though that you have a ancestry with those that once graced the lands! Thank you so much for commenting, as usual, you're amazing! xxx
I'm in awe of the massive size of this castle. The thick walls of the highest structure leaves me wondering what could have lead to it's deterioration? At the same time ... Can you image the incredible number of stones that had to be carried up the hill by man and beast to be set in place to construct this fortress? I love the narrative you share with the video and I'm grateful for all the research you do to bring these historical places to life with word and video.
Thank you so much A&R, really pleased you enjoyed the video, and wow...you're comments are tip top - we are truly grateful for you watching, commenting and just giving such amazing support! xx
Always great to watch your content....really enjoyed watching...thanks for sharing this with us...have a great day...till next time...I am back....the vacation is over.
I knew I would enjoy this Video and I did. Born & bred in Devon i have learned so much from watching. Many of the names i was vaguely aware of and also of the various actions in Exeter. Although now changed beyond recognition I wonder what that castle would have looked like its medieval hay day. Thank you both very much
So interesting to hear about your beginnings so to speak! Love Devon, we plan to visit the south west alot more hopefully! Oh Honestly, the views from above really show of it's one grandeur and like you mentioned, I can only imagine how it might have looked and felt like to live there! Thank you so much Peter!
@@PinnedonPlaces thanks for that. Did you know that the Devon Flag is St Petroc’s Cross, on a green background. The Cornish have similar on a black background. Apparently he used to walk around the two counties preaching.
Apologise and thank you for correcting me! Thank you so very much for the sub, it's truly appreciated and wonderful to hear you live in Okehampton, what a treat! It's a lovely spot in Devon 🙏🏻✨️
