  • Bose Freespace 51 vs Klipsch aw-650's running off a Bose sa5 amp. It's hard to tell from the video but the Klipsch aw-650's have a much fuller sound, deeper bass with the 6 1/5 inch driver compared to the Bose Freespace 4 1/5 inch.

    I’ve owned both brands but I have many Klipsch products. I just bought the 650s to add to 4 550s that will cover my entire pool, patio and backyard. The speakers will be powered by 3 Sonos Amps. My current 4 speakers are just adequate due to area space, negative edge fall and fairly large grotto. This weekend I’ll complete the project and enhance my backyard listening experience. Thanks for the comparison.

    Personally, the low to the ground aspect you mention is desirable (for me). I like playing music loud. The directional sound from the Klipsch speakers carries over the fence and into the neighbors yard, as with all good directional speakers, vs the in ground 360 degree speakers. With four of the 360 speakers, I find the stereo effects to be excellent, and I can get louder with less going over the fence,... they aren't quite as bad with respect to carrying over to the neighbor's yard. If you have a long distance from your neighbor's yard, directional are awesome.
    Just my two cents. I get plenty of quality sound and volume levels without the directional speakers (took mine down), and I love how landscaping hides them. I went to my neighbors yard to hear the difference (the reason why I took them down). With the directional speakers, might as well take the fence down because nearly all of the sound volume crosses over. Seems like half or less of the sound with the 360 speakers. That meant I could listen louder with less going to my neighbors yard.

      That is a good point. I have to be careful with the volume level with this setup because the klipsch aw-650's will project to neighbors whereas if I only had the Bose Freespace only around the pool it would be more enclosed to just my backyard. In my opinion, the klipsch sound better and if someone only wanted 1 pair that is what I'd recommend because they fill my backyard but the a pair of Bose Freespace won't because they need to be closer together.

    Call me crazy, but these Kipsch and the Polk Atrium 6 are spectacular. I'm not quite as familiar with the Klipsch, but the Polk Atriums are built like a friggin tank. The atriums have been through 2 hurricanes, and still sound perfect. The one thing I do like about the Bose is that it keeps the sound "local". Your speakers are mounted like mine, but when you mount them like that, the whole neighborhood can hear it.....even when they aren't that loud. So, I pulled mine down put two takes one in each corner with the speakers mounted about 3' off the ground facing the house, as opposed to mounted on the hose and facing the neighbor behind us, and that was the best thing I could've done. I's the perfect setup. I just wish there was a way to make a speaker wireless. I still have to run wire under the ground to the amp. But, for now it's a KILLER sounding, super durable setup. Hope that helps anyone deciding. I'd love to know how durable those Klipsch's are.

    I use the Klipsch 650's for Atmos channels inside and they work great for that as well. Comes with the brackets plus can set the crossover at 80 instead of 100 and above as with many Atmos speakers.

    Unfortunately, the BOSE Freespace 51 speakers have now been discontinued. If you want a similar in-ground style outdoor speaker, the TIC GS3 or JBL Control 88M are good options instead. Otherwise, the Klipsch as-650’s are still available.

  • @audiostuff2947
    @audiostuff2947 4 года назад +1

    Interesting comparison. From my point of view there a 3 reasons why the 650´s are much louder 1) the backwall is an radiation surface itself 2) 650 are directional horn speakers 3) the cable length used is much shorter with less resistens. Have you considered the max cable lenght´s ( in combination with Bose SA5) to your 360 speakers? How long are they and which AWG do you use?

    • @BrodeyDoverosx
      @BrodeyDoverosx 4 года назад

      Audio & Stuff that and they are two different styles of speakers. One is for background and one is foreground music. 251s would be a more appropriate comparison among the brands.
      But this demo shows the strength of each type of product imo. The Klipsch are more accurate but they also don’t blend well into the environment.

    Currently, it’s just my wife and me at home. We don’t have big backyard parties where we have lots of friends over...maybe just one or two couples besides ourselves. Our patio has a pergola on it that is about nine feet tall with a tin roof covering it. The patio itself is about 12’ x 18’. I like the Klipsch speakers and I was curious to know which model I should purchase? I’m only interested in having some soft background music playing as we sit outside on the patio, and I don’t play it loudly, but I want good quality sound. Any suggestions?

    • @jgjetskierful
      @jgjetskierful  4 года назад +1

      Randy, sorry I haven't replied to you yet, if you just want something for ambient music but you might turn out up every now and then a little I would suggest the Klipsch aw-525. I personally just think the Klipsch have a fuller and cleaner sound than the Bose. The 525s are just smaller so you might lack a little bass if you turn them up but I think they would be a great option.

    • @jgjetskierful
      @jgjetskierful  4 года назад

      They are quiet from a distance. They really don't "throw" for lack of better terms, the sound like a regular box speaker. In some cases can be good depending on how close neighbors are. Given the same level of sound they are not near as loud as the klipsch or I would think any other box speaker.

      I hope that is a joke. Every through shitty UTube the Klipsch blow the Bose away...nothing new. Back in the mid 80s a friend of mine had a pair of 901s. I had a pair of Heresys. I took my Klipsch over to his house for an A-B test. My Klipsch blew his Bose away.

    • @BrodeyDoverosx

      smoke14 I hope this is a joke. You’re comparing apples and oranges. A model is not a brand.
      The freespace are not for foreground music, they are for ambiance and background blending. A master uses many tools to achieve their perfect canvas.
