- I kept this on a VHS for 20 years. Now it's here on RUclips and both Paula Yates and Ofra Haza have since died in unusual circumstances.
Lucky I'm still here to post the video!
Thanks srparkinson for this post. She was as physically as beautiful as her voice was tonally perfect. I was introduced to the "Galbi" and "Im Nin'Alu" 12-inch versions in 1988. I've been looking for them ever since. RIP Ofra Haza.
I was on the crew that shot this film, I have some good stills of Paula and Ofra on set.
Aah sweet memories of the eighties... OH was really huge over here in Germany. Shame she died so early in such a terrible way - shalom.
my mother knew her!!! they went to the same highschool and took the same bus home!
What a beautiful woman and so talented.
كل اغنياتك حلوه تذكرني عندما كنا في العراق
Thanks so much for this video. I love this song and is a interesting historic moment.
love Ofra Haza - amazing amazing voice & Adore Paula
What a voice.
I don't mean to look a "gift horse in the mouth", as they say, but it seems that there was very little of an interview and read as if some of it may have been cut off.
I'm sure it's an old vid and I do appreciate the post. Just seems as some of the convo may be missing. Maybe not. Sometimes they did consider 10 seconds of chat as an "interview". That's not on you, dear posting person.(I do thank you for the post) Just sayin'...
Thank you for posting this, my friend. I covered this song here on youtube with my band, Thee Skiffle Kings, because it's a great song and she was a unique and inspiring singer. Granted, I'm a completely ignorant American with no idea what it's like over there, but, still, what do I give a f*ck if she's yemeni or jew or arab. Music is supposed to transcend those worldly divisions. Your commenters here need to f*cking relax. Thanks again. You're aces.
יהודיה
I love this song.
Thank you!
I love
It reaches the international charts ... I remember our TV and radio in Germany send it, too. So exotic cool Orient-Pop but 1st class
I like this version!
I sum up the discussion in my own fashon :
Ofra Haza was one lovely and big-hearted person. And that is enough to satisfy me.
She is meant to be jewish, yemenish jew.
I guess her songs will serve as a model for me to learn hebrew and arabic in the future.
Would she be muslim or jewish don't bother me, as I believe heartly most of muslim and jew to be good persons.
was that the whole of the interview? It seems quite short. Thanks a lot for posting anyway.
I love her!!!
te echo de menos.
Please share them!
יפה מאוד
Both tragic deaths , how sad
Great song . does anyone know what remix it is? i got the yemenite and ofra haza album but its not the same remix.
That link will not work for me!
the interview is basically complete...think i chopped 1 word off by accident
she says she sings cos she loves it
beautiful like all the Yemenites!
I too taped this from the legendary Tube show...was this version of the track ever released?
I have loved this song since my sister recorded it off the radio in like 1986. Though I ddt find out who sung this until 2004. lol yay!
What does it mean? Someone could help me? Thanks
rip
song is as awesome as "Im'nin alu" is but there is very high need of making an adequate remix. That's so pity that when her last album was being created in 1997 the producer didn't regarded "Galbi" for remixing.
do u know how and when she died
lol I am (well...half...my mom is yemenite israeli ) but damn proud of it :D
"By the way " Lyrics & Music by Aharon Amram
וזה אמנם לא שיר קודש של רבי שלום שבזי.. אבל בטח שלא שיר עגבים.
anyone know who did this remix? it's amazing.
Nice song, hot girl!
Who cares about jewish or muslim heritage?
Go to sleep politicians.
the interview is not long. Can we see more of it?
Totally agree, but she always asked the most er... simple questions. Don´t know why she caused such a stir - apart from her appearence. Great interviewer she was not.
Are you planning to do anything with them ?
the voice of god
somebody watched too much Bewitched as a child.
The blond girl also died.. I just checked online. How sad.. both of those women are dead now.
That's life I guess
she didnt die of hiv, she was killed in a car crash.
:-{
ahm, I read this was a rumour in the beginning or something?
globestyle 12 inch. goodluck finding it.
She systematically avoids talking about brutal Ashkenazi and Zionist-Israeli oppression, who hated Arab culture from inside as well, and just looks to exploit it.
And sadly we know what that (still) means.
it's no HAVA, sorry/...
We all weat !!!
I LOVE
common fate, common angers, and collective anecdotes-in short:a culture
Zionism started as a movement of less-religious/non-religious european "cultural" jews who shared the wish to be able to live not as a discriminated minority but "normal" many of this kind of jews hoped
X who was brought up religious has in fact still a very religious definition of who is a jew.but one can have that definition also because of being antiracist.I myself had long the idea that I am not jewish, but just a human being who is claimed by religious jews and by antisemites to be a separate category of human being.but then one day i decided to accept it-and become "a dissident jew"
shssssssssss! up!
She was not an Arab simply because the present day people of Yemen speak Arabic and it is part of the Muslim-Arab world. Jews from Israel from been in Yemen since the time of King Solomon.
the movie didnt have effect when it was released because it was a terrible movie, weak plot etc. although the movie was then broadcast twice on Israeli channel 2, which has the most rating in Israel. did you know that it was still screened on Israeli TV in 2005? Ofra was not killed because of the film.
Can't you make the difference between muslim and Arab? "Arab" is not synonymous with "muslim". There are Christian Arabs, Pagan Arabs, Arabian Jews - such as Ofra Haza, whose family came from Yemen - and so on. Just as "American" is not synonymous with "Christian" (or "moron")...
(since the Enlightment)but this did not them being the target of antisemitism.also:jews who are no longer religious often are still a bit sentimental about some remnants of the religion and because of the long history of antisemitism they also share with other jews a
if she was murdered I don`t think it was cz of Arab-Israeli promotion. However there is this story of the Yemenite children.youtube: "Israel-Yemenite babies abduction-exposer is persecuted"
and esp.because she investigated the destiny of the Yeminite Israeli Jewish children kidnapped between 1949-1950, making-OMG-a movie of it "Primal Justice"
anyway she was murdered whatsoever.:(
she's dressed int he colours of israel
@Chipmaster86- if you knew her so damn well, why didn't you sit down with her or her family and have a talk about how "fake" they were and how it's affecting YOUR life? See, no one seems to that YOU want so much to believe the lie you've continuously told yourself about her. Of course, you want to feel good and stand for something, so you choose a superstar whose dead and can't defend herself. Jew or not, you're definitely no man, in the eyes of God or man. Do everyone here a favor and grow the
i loved ofra haza and i dont care that she was a jew
weird two dead people talking
Evie3569, why are you so jumpy and looking for a fight? I work with people who are gay and l don't care if they are. Does that make me homophobic?
you don't care that she was a Jew...why SkyLondon2008 are you a Jew hater?
jews??heheehehehehe
