Great video y’all said one thing that was wrong though the compressor runs completely on vapor and letting liquid get to the compressor will kill the compressor
It is true that the process is a little more complicated than that. We were only trying to simplify the process to make it easier to understand. Thanks for the comment!
Your videos are simply superb There is a mistake at 01:32 it says compressor coverts again into liquid..I think compressor converts low pressure gas from evaporator to high pressure gas, isnt it?? pardon me if am wrong
+vaisakh tt Yes, the refrigerant coming out of the compressor is a high pressure gas. It starts changing over to a high pressure liquid as it goes through the condenser. We do mention that earlier in the video. Thanks for the comment!
That is true in almost all refrigerant systems. Refrigerant evaporates at low temperatures as it goes through the evaporator. Then goes to the compressor to be turned back into a liquid so it can be put back into the the receiver tank.
I have a double door GE refrigerator, I think the model # is TFX24R, This is the only # I found on the frig. My PROBLEM is I have to Lift up the freezer door for it to close., something on the bottom of the left side of the door I think is broken or missing. I am trying to get the part # to order but I don't know what the part is called.
I have a Samsung fridge sr216nme and the compressor seems to turn on every hour or so and it's really loud and annoying. The freezer and the fridge seem to keep food cool / frozen as appropriate but I'd like the frequency of the compressor to go back to being once or twice a day. Initially I thought it was a defrost cycle, but after watching your video I think it may be the control box (timing). What do you think it may be?
XrotarebiL There are a few possible causes. First check to make sure the condenser coils are not dirty; dust and dirt covered coils require the refrigerator to do more to release the heat from the coils. Enter your refrigerator's model number in our website's repair help for model-specific troubleshooting help: www.repairclinic.com/repairhelp?TLSID=1773.
I just purchased Haier Fridge a month ago. It keeps getting warm to hot on sides not on left side periodically during the day. It’s in open space away from heat source or sunlight. Is it normal?
Can you please make and upload videos on how to replace every part in my refrigerator 253.6880901E? No repairs, no maintenance, and no disassembly at my location. I also want you to upload another video on how to disassemble my appliance as well. It's a Kenmore top mount refrigerator.
Bruce Alexander Hi Bruce, RepairClinic has thousands of how-to videos including a how-to-disassemble video specific for that model. Enter your model number on www.repairclinic.com/repairhelp.
i have a side by side kenmore model 795-51812-410. When i woke up the ref. was completely defrosted. The fan are working and the compressor is running. What can this to happen ?
The freezer of my Frigidaire side by side has frozen water at the bottom which froze the small drawer shut. Water is also leaking onto the floor. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
+Chuck Pepples We don't have a video for that item. If you contact customer service we could email you a parts diagram of your dispenser area. 1-800-269-2609.
If the evaporator fan fails, the evaporator will freeze up in the same manner as a defrost thermostat failure. In some instances the defrost heater will shut down when the defrost thermostat detects a certain temperature. For example, if you install an L-55 thermostat, the thermostat will open when the evaporator compartment reaches 55F. So it does not necessarily operate by time but rather the defrost temperature because it has reached the thermostat's defrost temperature. When the thermostat is satisfied it will close and the defrost heater will energize when it goes into defrost. Most defrost problems are caused by faulty defrost thermostats. Or it could be a defective defrost heater itself.
What else could be wrong, if you replaced compressor motor starter, thermistor, except control board. The compressor motor three terminals have continuity and seems to be ok, feels warm, all condenser and evap fans are running.
High pressure= high temperature Low pressure =low temperature As refrigerant passes through capillar tube goes from high pressure liquid into low pressure saturated liquid/gas refrigerant
My LG bottom freezer fridge is working fine on the fridge side but the freezer is not that cold. I see water in the ice cubes tray. I have cleaned the condenser coils and replaced the condenser fan motor but it is still exhibiting the same issue. What should I do next?
First make sure the fan is running in the freezer section. If that is OK, you will need to pull off the evaporator cover and see if the evaporator has any frost on it. If it is full of frost and ice, the fan will not be able to pull the air across it. In this case, you have a defrost problem and will need to check the defrost heater and thermostat. If you are not getting any or very little frost on the coil, you may have a refrigerant leak or a restriction. In this case, you may have to call a qualified service person to look at it. If the compressor is running, the entire evaporator should have a light coating of frost after a short 10 to 15 minutes of run time.
Ok... If i turn on compressor and don't turn it off(what would fridge normaly do) will it break? Even if i cool duwn these coils I want to store dry ice so it got me thinking maybe i buy freezer and camping cool box and some extra isolating sruff? Any ideas? I only want to have it as cold as possible < - 35 would be good
mattibboss Even if you bypass the thermostat and leave the compressor on all the time, it is not likely to reach the temperature you need it to. It is not designed to get that cold. Even if you did get the temperature down that cold, the coils would still have to defrost at least once a day and that would bring the temperature back up for a while. It seems like a lot of work that may not be worth it.
hello i have a question, how come the freezer on my unit works but not the refrigerator? Whenever the door is closed, air stops from flowing into the refrigerator. please help.
Enrique Lopez www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Refrigerator/58---/Refrigerator-freezer-is-cold-but-refrigerator-is-warm?TLSID=1773 You will need your model number to get accurate information about what to check.
All that I can say is that my Crosley side by side refrigerator is poorly engineered. The air from the freezer cools the refrigerator by depending on a horse shit plastic damper mechanism. The soft HDPE plastic screw and shaft part of the damper have a short lifespan as they wear through each other and bind up the damper door & motor. $70 for this recycled milk carton part with a $3 Chinese damper motor on it.
Why don't refrigerator companies place a filter behind the kick plate so you can wash that (like an air conditioner filter) instead of worrying about the cleaning the evaporator coils?
The compressor does not turn gas into a liquid. There is a mistake at 1:34 The compressor turn low pressure gas coming from the evaporator, to high pressure gas, not liquid. At least admit the mistake....
i need help, my refrigerator display control working without light on , so i can't select option for ice or water.how can i fix it. thank my kenmore elite

RepairClinic.com please My fridge has a Problem, the Freeze side isn’t working, I fill the Gas is finish, what do u please Suggest I do
RepairClinic.com my freeze side isn't working too! So I can't freeze anything :((

Very good, instructions were simple enough even for us who have no knowledge or where to even start when it comes to a frig repair repair, thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you for teaching me how these systems work and how to fix them!
Such an assume explanation of how a fridge works! Thanks!
No problem!
So great ..love ur videos they ..i will show this to my kids .its perfect
I remember watching these in 1st and 2nd grade in school when i had a break

+RepairClinic.com ya thats right.but there was a mistake at 01:32 ..but its ok...good videos ..expecting more
Isn't the condenser the one that converts the gas into a liquid? The compressor only changes it from low pressure to high pressure... right?
Samsung fridge
It's optional. It will retain its flavor better if it is refrigerated though :-)
Crisp & clear video .. how things works.. Keep up the good job

+CityCat Normally this is due to a clogged defrost drain. You can use compressed air or a turkey baster to try and clear the drain.

A dirty condenser is the major contributing factor for compressor high head pressure which can ultimately lead to compressor burnout or failure.
Psycho9263 This is true! Thanks for the comment.
my lg fridge compressor starts and turns off after a few seconds. could it be the capillary tube?
thank u

at 1:22 wouldn’t the gas make it warm because heat turns liquids into gases?

it's a nonissue with refrigerators.
The compressor does not turn gas into a liquid. There is a mistake at 1:34
The compressor turn low pressure gas coming from the evaporator, to high pressure gas, not liquid.
At least admit the mistake....
Yes, the compressor pumps refrigerant in gas form into the condenser where it is compressed into a liquid. Thanks for the clarification.
Actually it is compressed into a high pressure heat-laden gas (hot gas) into the condenser where it expels the heat and changing into a liquid.
how to tighten door handle on whirlpool refrigeratorr
